Our server guided us to some incredibly delicious options similar to what we were thinking but really pushed our experience to a higher level.
Great Meatballs and the Bucatini is definitely a must! We also loved the wood fired calimari!
Overpriced but good
Food cooked to perfection! Exceptional service! Great vibe and atmosphere!!!
Formento's is a high-quality restaurant with a very welcoming staff and delicious food. The pistachio and kale pesto pasta was the highlight of our meal, and the chocolate cake is absolutely world-class. It was a fantastic restaurant for our anniversary, amd we cannot wait to return.
Service and food were excellent. Order the scallops, you will not be disappointed
Over an hour wait for a table we reserved a month prior
Had a great experience, however, had to wait over 30 minutes to get a table. Server (Chloe) was outstanding and went out of her way to make it up.
There were a couple problems I had with the dining experience. The reservations were made months in advance and we still had to wait to be seated because the restaurant wanted to maximize its occupancy. In the same vein, the seating was exceeding crowded. Other patrons were literally sitting in our laps. A romantic night with a loved one turned into family seating with strangers. Specifically, our table was unduly long & narrow such that I was closer to other patrons than my date which didn’t allow for any intimacy or privacy. I understand that Valentine’s Day is a busy night. However, a restaurant shouldn’t change the dining experience from one of intimacy to livestock jammed in at the trough to maximize profits. Consequently, my experience was soured.
My fiancee and I ate here on a busy Valentine's Saturday. We ate here a year or so earlier and we really enjoyed it.
The food was as good as I remember, fresh quality ingredients well prepared. Who knew cauliflower could taste so good?
Our waiter was very nice and was clearly doing his best but a bit overwhelmed with how packed the restaurant was. The small entranceway by the host desk was *very* crowded when we arrived and again when we went to get our coats.
We will definitely go back, but probably not on such a popular night.
The food was amazing. The waitstaff knowledgeable. The buss team attentive!
We had a reservation at 6:30 and were not seated until 7:10. While waiting to be seated there was absolutely no where to wait. After snagging a seat at the bar the bartender ignored us. Once we got their attention they would not take our order and told us they they had to finish making other drinks first which took atleast another 10 minutes. When asking the hostess for an update on how much longer it might be they told us "we will get you when your table is ready" and then ignored us without try to give an update or answering the question. After being seated we didn't see our waiter or get bread, etc for another 10 minutes. Upon ordering we were told certain items were not available, so after placing are original order the waiter came back later and told us they were available and we had to change our order, which by this point we were obviously quite hungry. Overall not a good value/exerpeince for the price point, the service was extremely lack luster.
They set up a area upstairs that is some kind of event space. The furniture was cheap and clearly temporary, the whole tabletop kept swiveling while trying to eat. Food was very small portions and not that great. Especially when you’re paying the high prices they have on their menu. Waiter was visibly irritated that we didn’t order dessert or any additional drinks and this was after he never checked in on us.
We made a reservation close to a month before but we ended up seated in the bar area, right near the entrance. The majority of our evening was spent with people lingering immediately in front of our table. The food was fine (good but nothing to rave about), the service was decent. Just not ideal to spend most of your meal with people pressed up to your table! I'm not sure if we were sat there because we were a little late for our reservation, but I'd recommend when making reservations you specify you'd like to sit in the dining room.
Mark was an amazing server . The food and ambiance were fantastic will be back !
The pasta is amazing. That is really what shines from their menu.
Jeff was an excellent server!
Excellent service—from the hostess to the table service. Our waitress was very attentive and the bus boys kept our table clean and water glasses filled. Would recommend!
I had an enjoyable experience. The service was good and the lighting was soft and cozy. For starters, the meat balls were very good. We had the Veal Parmesan, it was prepared to perfection and the Brick Chicken, which my wife said was seasoned well but not as moist as expected. The side dish of Brussels Sprouts was also very good. I will return and try other dishes as well as recommend this establishment to others.
We celebrated and early Valentine's here and the vibe was great. The food was delicious but I feel like the prices were high for how much you get. I would still come back!
Formento's was a very good experience. We went for Restaurant Week and it was
a very good value based upon the overall food, service and atmosphere.
Great place! Restaurant week menu was great. The only thing i would change is the portions were small and felt that they scaled back the size of platings. Customers notice things like that, however we had a great experience, and the service was top notch! We were celebrating my birthday, and they brought dessert for my friend, and I to share. I believe our server was Jason, or Jared, great service!
Everything was perfect! The only reason why it was not 5 stars is because my fiancé’s steak was purple and definitely not cooked enough. Everyone else’s steak was great. The meatballs were to die for!
Had a wonderful time but were seated in the back room with huge groups. Very very loud! I wouldn’t want to sit in that room again for a party of two.
The food here is so authentic and so so good. Expect to spend a lot but I thought it was worth it!
The service was great but the food was subpar. Only one of us wanted to order the restaurant week menu and the other from the regular menu. We were told that the chef “wants everyone at the table to participate” that we both had to order from the special menu. We ended up both having to order from the regular menu and the food was just ok. The chicken and broccoli tasted like it was cooked on a bonfire and I hardly touched it. I have had a better meal at chili’s.
Went for Restaurant Week and had an amazing time. Service was great, portions were generous and delicious.
Went here for restaurant week. Saw great reviews so we decided to give them a try. Hostess was very attentive and made sure we were seated. Once seated I felt like it took a little long for the server to get to us. When we finally ordered our drinks it seemed forever until we got our drinks (like 15 min). You would think they would at least offer bread if we have to wait and being its an ITALIAN restaurant! So we all had the prefix menu with an appetizer. The grilled Octopus was tender but needed to be a little more grilled on the outside to give it a more texture. But the beans and sauce it came with was amazing! Then we had the meatballs which was pretty decent. Didn't care too much for the Bucatini because it was overly salty. On to our main entree, the Branzini was delicious. Perfectly cooked with my favorite pea pod leaf which had a slight kick to it which I liked. Finally had the chocolate mousse cake which was pretty tasty but needed maybe a scoop of vanilla gelato to break the richness down. Not sure if I’d go back again due to the slow service and mediocre food.
I would HIGHLY recommend this venue. Not only the food was phenomenal, but the customer service was SPECTACULAR. I wish I took our server's name - he went out if his way to accomodate everyone. Also, the teamwork was extraordinary. When our our server was occupied with other tables, other staff noticed we needed water or something and immediately stepped in. They all were rockstars!
We had a great time there for restaurant week! The food was incredible and the staff really let my friend and I enjoy our time.
There’s was nothing special about the food except for the chocolate cake. That was stellar.
We showed up during restaurant week, and understandably they were busy. However, our reservation seemed to be an afterthought, as it took 25 minutes for us to be sat. The explanation was that, apparently, the only 2-top in the house was paid out and lingering...
Once we were finally sat, our waiter poured water for us, and disappeared. After about 15 minutes MORE of waiting, the manager came over, apologized, and took our order.
The food was good. Not amazing, but good. However, waiting 30 minutes between each course, and not having a presence by our waiter until wine was ready to be poured (pouring the wine without words, and disappearing again), it was just a very machine-like experience.
We attended several restaurant week hotspots during our Chicago trip, and even when there was a wait, it wasn't met with the lack of ambiance that we experienced at Formento's.
The manager tried, but she was also very busy, again understandable. But for my wife's 30th birthday, we were hoping for a more memorable experience. Well, at least memorable in a good way.
Went for restaurant week, very crowded and loud. Tables were very close together. Food very good, service was outstanding.
TWO WORDS RIDICULOUSLY GOOD
They seated us in a banquet hall room rather than the regular dining room. The room was not nearly as nice and had cheap chairs/poor ambiance. The service felt rushed and they forgot several items. I'm guessing this was all because of restaurant week, but they should just not accommodate as many reservations if they are not able to keep the level of service to par.
We always try new restaurants during Restaurant Week and I’m sorry to say I was not happy with Formento’s. The steak was by far, way too charred on the outside and most of all, I do not like the table arrangement in the restaurant- I don’t like to be inches away from the other patrons where you can every word of their conversation, that is my biggest complaint. The homemade pasta was delicious and the service was wonderful but due to the ambiance, I would not come to the restaurant again- especially given those prices.
Great choice.... enjoyed the experience very much.
Murphy was an awesome server! He made our first experience one to remember. Will definitely go back!
Pasta was delicious! Branzini also very good. Steak was fine.
