This was a beautiful meal. The restaurant was open and airy. The service was well timed and friendly without being intrusive. A perfect evening all around.

My first time at Forest but it won’t be my last! We ate at the bar and Taylor was great as our server and bartender. I had the farm egg and my friend had the carrot salad. Both delicious. We both ended up getting the braised short rib pasta - fantastic! And you can even order half portions which is much appreciated. We also had homemade cinnamon ice cream for dessert. Lovely evening.

Waited 45 minutes after our reservation time for our table. Food was meh.

From start to finish the staff at forest grill are outstanding. There were No disappointments. Will return!!

Great dinner

A very lovely meal at Forest, once again. The food, service and ambiance are always consistent.

Our server was great. Food was good, not excellent. Salads were underwhelming (carrot salad tasted and looked good but the dressing/overall taste and presentation of the radish salad was not great). Short rib pasta was fantastic. Duck was slightly bland and the pears/potatoes were OK. Dessert was flavorful but very simple.

Have not been here in a while and with the new owners I think this restaurant has significantly improved . Our dinners were very good , the service was fast and friendly and the whole experience was impressive . I had the bolognese which I have to say was amazing and totally unexpected for not being an Italian restaurant . My husband had the bronzino which also was very good. Had a new dessert on the menu , carrot cake which unfortunately was just okay. Would recommend and we will return.

The food is amazing. Love the black rice for an appetizer as well as the Brussels Sprouts salad which was easily shared between the four of us. The branzino is prepared and served beautifully and it was delicious and more than enough to it! Can’t wait to return!!

The staff took very good care of us from beginning to end. We did the chef's menu and were taken on a culinary experience. We didn't like everything and some dishes were a little too salty, but overall was excellent food. In all fairness, when you get the chef's menu, you may not like what is presented as you aren't choosing. However, they took care of us and replaced the dish with something we did enjoy! You should go and enjoy this experience!

We have been to Forest Grill several times and went for a birthday celebration. It was the perfect venue - the food was amazing as always and the service was outstanding - very gracious and thoughtful.

horrible service

We had a reservation and confirmed it by phone. We were a party of 3 but drove separately. When my single guest arrived early 7:25, the hostess would not seat her as the “whole party” was not yet present. We came in just behind her at 7:26 and the hostess sat another table first, while we waited. The restaurant was nearly full so we were escorted to the most dimly lit, awkward and most undesirable table in the back corner of the restaurant. Which we did not appreciate.
The service was very good. The food not so much. My ribeye was dramatically undercooked. I was specific when ordering that my preference was medium temperature pink not red. The meat was thick and chewy and because it was so dark in the corner I could not tell that it was blood red in the center. My guest ordered the $90 tasting menu and my husband ordered the short ribs. We ordered a side dish of mushrooms that had no flavor and were cold. We also had a nice bottle of wine. The service while good did not make up for the crummy seating and the very average overpriced $400 tab.

Overall a wonderfl dining experience. Located in Downtown Birmingham, Michigan, the Forest Grill has an extensive wine list that includes some wonderful French red blends and American Cabernet Sauvignon -Pinot noir wines. We started with Scallops. Sweet, fresh and cooked to perfection. Then the veal sweetbreads. Disappointing. Cooked in a Parmesan crust that overpowered any hint of sweetbread flavor. For a main course, we shared a bone-in tomahawk rib eye medium rare. Dry aged for 28 days and grilled perfectly, it accompanied 2015 French Bordeaux blend perfectly. So good nobody had room for dessert

Too noisy to enjoy dinner with friends.

We did a birthday diner with the tasting menu, a nice bottle of wine and cocktails. It was a very nice dinner overall, but some of the courses didn’t hit the mark for us. Ambiance, drinks, wine selection were excellent.

Outstanding Service and food quality. The farm egg appetizer is a must-have. The new dessert menu is ok. They removed some great selections simply to make a change. Love the granola mini jar the give at departure. Pricing is similar to other seafood and steakhouse restaurants in the Birmingham area. We love this place and dine out there often.

Had a great time at Forest. No complaints and would recommend for a nice evening out. A bit pricey but the quality and experience are worth it. Our server was outstanding. I know I am going to spell his name wrong but just in case he sees this or someone from Forest does I hope it is close enough so he gets praise for how great he was. I believe his name was Shaty. Apologies if this is spelled wrong.
The fish I had was my favorite thing. The flavor of the mushroom sauce that was on it was delicious and complimented the fish perfect. All good things to say about this place.
