Foreign & Domestic - Austin
What Insiders Are Saying
A super creative menu and adventurous food make this one of our favorite spots in town.
I can't get enough of this place. Chefs Sarah and Nathan have created a special experience. Food, service and space all coming together perfectly.
Went here once a few weeks ago and loved it so much we came back! Amazing food at really reasonable prices. The wait staff is all awesome. I recommend sitting at the chef's table.
Despite a couple of minor service hiccups, the food was fantastic and our overall experience was terrific. Looking forward to visiting again, and will definitely recommend F & D.
Great food served by very knowledgeable server. Atmosphere was lively. We will definitely go back
Small, cozy, and packed 30 minutes after opening on a Tuesday night. Get the tasting menu - it really reflects the Chefs personal style. Also, gnocchi in koji butter was a favorite.
Soo good I’m sorry it took my so long to come back!
It was amazing
Set at the bar in head chef was the best to us
The portions were small and wasn’t worth the price in my opinion
Easily one of the best food experiences I’ve ever had! We met some friends during SXSW and was looking for something local and good.
Boy were we in for a surprise! The food was spectacular, a real revelation of the best produce the area has to offer.
I would highly recommend this place. For friends or family, the waiter will provide you with all the information you need to have a truly memorable experience.
Great service and food. Was worth venturing out of the city.
I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Foreign & Domestic. I chose the tasting menu which I thought was a good value for the quality of the food. I sat at the bar which provided a great view of the open kitchen and it was fun to watch the staff in action. Service was very good. Highly recommend.
Without a doubt one of our top three, no two, favorite places at Austin! Love Chef and her family’s cooking and the outstanding cuisine they bring to this cozy and romantic spot gem of a place🥰
The food was fantastic and the service was great. Absolutely LOVE this restaurant.
The risotto and the pork chop that I ordered was outstanding. The cut I received was awesome. I have had some great risotto and pork chops, but by far the best for me.
This is the best meal I have had in Austin! The duck and the house charcuterie were incredible.
I love that they include a percentage for healthcare for their employees.
We have heard about this place and wanting to go for awhile. My wife's birthday was a great reason to go. Made reservations which I would recommend anyone do who wants to go there. When we arrived we found a nice small cozy place which was very inviting. We settled in and frankly the wine list could have been a little better which is the only criticism I have. Very attentive staff and they were very enthusiastic about the menu. We started with the puff pastry which was outstanding, they were big but we gobbled them up and could eat more. We split (we always split) the pork chop and have to say it is one of the best chops I have ever eaten. I would go back just for the pork chop. Finally we ordered fingerling potatoes fired in duck fat...anything with duck fat is something you need to try. We ate every last bite. The staff found out it was my wife's birthday they brought her a dessert, which made our first trip a huge hit...You need to try this place you will not be disappointed.
Might have been the best meal I’ve ever had! I’ll be back
We had a wonderful evening celebrating our son's birthday. The food was very good, the service friendly and efficient without being intrusive, and the wine list was reasonable. We had not been there before -- it is a little off our usual track geographically -- but shall be back!
We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious. We'll be back for sure! Hope they will keep the same quality in the future. Austin needs restaurants like this.
Everything was delicious and the staff was super friendly! They brought us an extra off-the-menu dish that was one of our favorites. Happy hour prices were great as well. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service as always.
The food was great, but the portions for the price are a bit small. Great meal overall and the service was perfect!
Our brunch was fine. Nothing memorable. It was alright. 3 stars
One of the beat eating experiences we've ever had. So much good flavor and great food!
Great, unique experience! Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
Way too loud
The food was so excellent, it made my 82yo father hum to himself while he ate it. It was busy, hectic, and delightful to watch. Thank you for another fantastic experience.
We've been going to dinner here for several years. The brunch was acceptable, but a few areas were off---coffee wasn't hot and they were having a french press pot shortage? Service was dicey, but not intolerable. Food was decent and the menu is diverse enough for a picky crowd. We prefer this place for dinner.
We had a somewhat disappointing experience here. Our waiter started off attentive but disappeared in the middle of the meal. On two separate occasions, the wrong dish was brought to our table, which we alerted a different waiter to because our guy was MIA. The food itself was mostly tasty, from the onion rings to the risotto to the cookie dessert. The kicker at the end was when they tried to charge us for the two dishes we didn't order, and never comped us anything for their repeated mistakes. Not worth it imho, maybe we were unlucky bc their ratings are high.
Was VERY well done
Appreciated some HH deals too on both apps, a decent white wine and a local ipa
You might NOT want to do the unbelievably good chocolate chip baked cookie with butter and ice cream...it may ruin you for all other desserts!!
A bit loud, but I believe planned that way. No problem with conversation, but seating is RIGHT on top of each other. I loved it, almost communal, my wife, not so much, but she was impressed by food
She did order steak Medium and it came much closer to rare. A house staple, I’m sure
My pork chop was a perfect med pink, so I was happy and the “shake and bake” ( was actually sold as such, by our waiter) was dynamite
Nothing else was pretentious and you should check out that ‘hood before it becomes TOO cool to get a rez.
Food was good, atmosphere was amazing. Sit at the bar and watch the open kitchen!
We had a reservation but the staff didn’t have a table ready for us; they had to make a phone call and talk to others to get a table for us. The people who were seated next to us about 5 minutes after we had been seated, had their drink order taken before us. Their beer was poured into the glass for them while my boyfriend’s beer was not. It was a bunch of little things like that, that were noticed through the night. It was disappointing because it was my boyfriend’s birthday and he specifically requested your restaurant for his birthday dinner. Based off of our overall experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was phenomenal, but the service is a huge part of the experience and must be on point.
MY husband and I ordered a few shareable plates. The lamb campanelli, crispy beef tongue and Parisian gnocchi were our faves. We will be back!
Interesting farm to table restaurant with ever-changing menu, located in an eclectic area. Interesting food combinations which are always solid, in a small and intimate setting.
We went to dinner before concert and had a wonderful dinner and even dessert. Have to have the chocolate chip cookie. We are planning on trying brunch soon
The new, improved Foreign one order per two people is more than enough. You may think paying for bread is crazy, but you won't be disappointed.
Popovers are amazing! Very friendly and attentive service, too.
I cannot be happier that I dined here!
The food is outstanding and prepared with skill and creativity.
As a native of the touted San Francisco food scene and a self proclaimed serious “foodie”- I can honestly say - this restaurant is top notch.
The value for the quality is also impressive. The server was knowledgeable and personable and just great!
Don’t miss this restaurant if you’re searching for a comfortable setting and a fabulous farm to table experience.
Our dinner was incredible. The only thing we didn't care for was the chocolate cake. The rosemary & salt was overwhelming. But it really didn't matter to us as the rest of the food was so damn fantastic!
