The Forebay at Hershey Lodge Ratings and Reviews
We met friends in Hershey and planned dinner. It was a very busy weekend due to holidays festivities. We managed to snag a reservation. I had filet mignon. Excellent. Cooked to perfection and mashed potatoes great. Chocolate speciality sauce was a treat. Guys had snapper which was special of day. They enjoyed. My girlfriend had scallops and she said they were quite tasty. Our server Kim was fabulous and we all had a different chocolate martini that was so wonderful. We can’t wait to go again. It was a little noisy with kids going to see Santa but heck we were once in their place.
Overall it was a typical steakhouse. Food was average . My husband ordered the ribeye medium. It was definitely undercooked more in the rare side when cut. My steak was undercooked as well as my friends steak. The sauce that we chose was the chocolate stout. It had a barbecue flavor which did not enhance my steak at all. I felt for the price the food would have been better. The service was excellent and our server was very nice. I would try again and maybe choose a different sauce and maybe order my steak well to have it medium.
What I liked most about this restaurant was that they offered salmon and NY strip on the kids menu!!! My boys range from 10-16 and the youngest gets tired of chicken tenders and burgers all the time but an adult meal is usually too much food. Kudos for giving kids adult choices in smaller portions!! All the other food was delicious too!
The Forbay menu is my favorite of all of the Hershey dining experiences. Always a creative approach. This time I had the scallops - always well prepared. I did splurge on dessert this time but the chocolate pomerganate creme brulee was more like chocolate pudding and not creme brulee - and TOO sweet (had my heart set on flourless chocolate cake but not on the menu). All in all, I like this place and the food. I don't go there for dessert anyway.
Located in the Hershey Lodge, this was the pick for a nicer dinner out after a day of touring. Restaurant was pretty and romantic in a sense; greeted warmly and drinks were pretty tasty. However, I ordered a ribeye steak medium rare; it came out completely well done and very charred. The butter on top of it was all melted down and pooling around it, another "slice" had been then added on top. I asked for it to be remade, came back out medium rare in spots but medium well to well in others and again very charred. It looked like it had been smashed down and burnt on the grill.
I did get an apology and a new steak that was better, but was still not great. No offer of free dessert, soup, etc; my companion finished his meal before my remake came out.
Overall was just OK, on a note I know this is in a family friendly hotel but the amount of obnoxious/rambunctious children and their inattentive parents at 8:30pm didn't add to the upscale nature of the venue.
The service was very good from beginning to end. The staff was was very nice . The waiter was great and checked on us to make sure our meal was fine. He was even a bit funny. All in all we had a great time. The food was very good, and we all enjoyed it. I would recommend the Forebay to anyone. The resturant also had a very nice decor.
This was our fourth time at the Forebay and it was the best by far! We sat on the deck which made for a perfect time! (We were glad we chose to sit outside because when we departed, we walked through the dining room and it was very loud.) The view was beautiful and the food was amazing! I had the seared scallops with asparagus and leek risotto and my husband had the ribeye. We were both very happy with our choices. I also had the beet and carrot salad...outstanding!
This was our second time at the Forebay. The first time was just my husband and I. This time we went for dinner on Mother's Day with our kids. The food was absolutely delicious. They had a nice kids menu and were kid friendly. The portions were a good size for the price and the bread sticks are delicious. Our server was so polite and friendly. My husband loved the creme brulee. Overall I would definitely recommend the Forebay.
Excellent atmosphere; quiet with cozy chairs. Attentive wait staff, especially to refill waters.
But the food is outrageously expensive for what you get. $10 salads and another $8-12 to add protein source. Crab cake added was the size of silver dollar. Other guests at our table's food was just OK for $20+/ plate. No sure I'd go back...sorry I wanted to love it.
A busy restaurant with loads of kids and families that made for an energetic environment. The service and food was good. Both my wife and I had the Ribeye Steak dinner that was prepared to our liking and very tasty. The wait staff was particularly attentive with a nice personality. The only draw back was the cost of the wine which was quite expensive and at least a 3-4 fold markup from what you could buy at the local liquor store for ordinary wines. Overall a good experience in a busy but nice setting.
Food is high quality, flavorful, and decently priced for a hotel restaurant. Wine markup was a disappointment but probably typical. Service friendly and attentive, and the ambience is quiet and interesting. For the area, it is near the top of the food chain
