Server wasn't very knowledgeable or attentive. Meals uneven - ordered Medium Well burger for kids-split in half so chef could easily see how it was tone served and it was bleeding in center. Salads were great. Bread tasty. Drink prices too high.

This is a great place for lunch as well as a nice casual place for supper. It has a small menu, but they change the preparation and ingredients regularly. The smoked deviled eggs are great and I really enjoyed the flavors of the spring vegetables that accompanied the crab cakes.

The service was very slow and the restaurant was not completely full. For a "wine" bar, it too forever to get our wine. Our appetizer came before our wine. The food selection wasn't great. I had a hard time finding something I wanted to order to eat. I ended up with the chicken because nothing else appealed to me. It was very boring and disappointing. We won't be going back. :(

We made a reservation at 9.30pm, but by 10.15 they were clearly in a rush to collect payment. If not good service can be assured the rest should not take late reservations. We wanted to stay and relax with a glass of wine but felt pressed all the time to do it fast. On the contrary, food was excellent!

Nice atmosphere, somewhat limited menu, ok service and ok food. Went for 6:30 weekend dinner. Server was polite, the hamburger was hugged! and good. The crab cake was ok but had nothing close to lumps (they weren't promised) and was stark: no sauce, little accompaniment.

I've been here before and the one thing that fell apart this time was the service. It took a while to get our drinks, and our main courses arrived after a long wait and before our appetizers. The restaurant was very nice and took the appetizers off the bill, but it had been a long day and this was not how we wanted to end it. I think - hope - it was a one-time glitch. The food is always terrific. I'll go back, and I recommend it.

deviled eggs, truffled fries are delicious. Meat cooked perfectly. Handmade pasta. Attention to detail. Sauces are excellent. Suggestions: Needs some more grilled or non-fried foods, more interesting veggies. Side dish of salad was sparse. Noise level could be reduced.

We have been to this restaurant many times and considered it to be a reliable family favorite. Our last experience on Mother's Day was very disappointing. The service was extremely erratic, and the food was well below average. Even the staff at the front desk seemed to be completely disinterested in providing a positive guest experience.

Make a booking if you want to be sure to be seated in the back-end room (midway between a cellar & a library). Atmosphere is really good and excellent service. Our waiter was great on suggestions for the wines as well as for the food.
I recommend the Steak (truffle sauce) and the Octopus !!!
Desert were great : K-lime creme brûlée and Rum Cake.

Wines : we tried the Chianti and the Tuscany (by the glass) Both were just excellent.

The food is consistently good here. This time we wanted a good burger and a place to watch the Caps game. Food Wine & Co filled the bill perfectly and we were able to get a last minute table on a Saturday night at 8:30. It's lively without being crazy loud and crowded.

Service was very friendly and food came quickly, but then the waiter kind of disappeared. We had to track him down to get the check.

Food & Wine is a good restaurant in a convenient location. Our overall experience was very good. I had been there a couple times before with friends, but this was my husbands first time there and we both liked it. I would recommend a more varied menu with some lower priced options for dinner.

My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We had heard good things but we were also a bit hesitant because, after years of living in this area, we have come to find that the downtown Bethesda dining experience can best be described by the phrase "overpriced mediocrity." We had a nice time at Food, Wine and Company, but we ultimately paid $120 to learn that this place epitomized the idea of overpriced mediocrity. Here's what we got:

We started with the calamari, which was good, but no better quality then the Calamari you would get at an Italian carry out place. What set this one apart was the Incan peppers, which were a very tasty addition, and the squid ink dipping sauce, which was quite tasty and has a sweetness to it.

I got a glass of the $12 Predator Zinfandel to go with my truffle burger. The wine was good, but not $12/glass good. I later found out that the wine I ordered sells for about the same price per bottle. I understand restaurants marking up the price of alcohol, but I would expect better from a place like this that prides itself on its wine selection. The burger was very tasty and certainly one of the better burgers I've had in a while, but it was not $19 good.

My wife decided to splurge and got the risotto paella, which was just okay. The risotto itself did not have much flavor and the whole dish was devoid of the kind of high quality ingredients and creative flair that would warrant making it one of the most expensive things on the menu. She also got a mixed drink (I can't remember which, but it had jalapeño in it) which was excellent.

I can respect that there are a lot of reviewers who love this place, but my wife and I both agreed, we won't be coming back. There isn't good value here.

Lots of great, fresh seafood on the menu. The paella-style seafood risotto was delicious. Quick, good service and a very convenient location.

This has become our go to restaurant before we go to the Roundhouse Theater. The service is good, so we can eat leisurely with plenty of time to get to the theater.
We had small plates this time and the spaghetti squash was delicious, deviled eggs amazing.

Always a good experience,

We have been here many times and always has been good. This time not so good. Except for the great brussels sprouts and our glasses of wine, our other 2 dishes left a lot to be desired. First the flatbread- basically just some plain pita bread with a few toppings. It didn't even look appetizing. Absolutely not worth the price and our server said it was his favorite one! then the steak salad, although had enough meat lacked the salad dimension. Very little salad and other ingredients that were advertised. We left appreciating the pretty ambience but not feeling great about the meal

The appetizers were delicious, our entrees not so much. I substituted spaghetti squash for pasta with the mushrooms ragout and it did not taste good at all. Good wine - but I thought overpriced at $14 - $17 a glass. I would not go back.

I've eaten here numerous times, both for lunch and dinner, and I've never had a bad meal! The menu constantly changes with the seasons, which is great, and there is always a good variety of options. The staff is always great, very attentive. And the food!! It's one of my go-to spots in Bethesda to guarantee a great meal!! Love it!

Though it was a bit noisy, I was throughly impressed all around. I have multiple allergies and the waiter went above and beyond to confirm every ingredient in multiple dishes. The food was absolutely incredible and the bill was surprisingly reasonable. A great dining experience that I highly recommend.
