    My son and I love this place. He goes to Iowa State and whenever I visit him and if we can make it, we do dinner here. The steak never disappoints and this time we tried the crab cake on our server’s recommendation and it was really good. As he’s got 2-more years at school, I hope to make it to this pace a few more times.

    As I searched for restaurants within walking distance to the DesMoines Civic Center, I discovered Mulberry Street Tavern, what a find! Made Open Table on Thursday for 5:30 Friday night. We walked to the lovely MST within the beautiful Surety Hotel, we were greeted and sat immediately. The owner welcomed us, gave a bit of history and discussed the locally sourced farms/butchers and businesses they use for the small but well appointed menu. With drinks ordered (glad for the NA options!) we decided to share the Ricotta Gnudi as a starter, a hearty butter and Parmesan sauce accompanied by mushrooms and gnudi, so good. Robert was our attentive and helpful server, he knew the menu, was cheerful and pleasant. I ordered the seasonal pot pie (filled with mushrooms, carrots, onions and a side salad), husband ordered the meatloaf that came with carrots and mashed potatoes. The food was outstanding, unique, flavorful, filling, beautifully presented and brought out in a timely (not rushed) manner, only wished we had room for dessert. Thank you, MST, for a delightful pre-show dinner date at Mulberry Street Tavern, our compliments to Chef Michael, Robert and the management team, we will be back!
