Fontana at the Biltmore Hotel
Nice place, good food. It had some noise because a wedding was happening. Recomendd
The place was clean and the tables were well set up (we requested inside table), the food was good, not excellent, as we expected. The service was poor, extremely slow. At the end, we requested a dessert menu and when finally our waitress came she was surprised no one had brought us the menu yet.
For these reasons, I would not recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful surroundings, fantastic food and wine, great service! It was the perfect place for a special dinner.
Excellence in all respects. Incredible attention.
Old world enchanting hotel, & food quality amazing, always a good memory & long to return back for enjoyable meal,
Por service, late on bringing the food, not worth the trip
I made a reservation at Fontana, expecting it to be a fancy restaurant, where people dressed up. Since it is at the Biltmore Hotel, I thought the ambiance at the restaurant would match the luxury and beauty of this grand hotel. However, when we arrived, there were people dressed in everyday clothing, shorts and some even in sandals. The area where we were sat was very empty and it felt like we were in the middle of a hallway. There were no decorations, nothing pretty to look at, no music playing in the background. I was looking forward to a fine dining experience, but was pretty unimpressed by the feel of this restaurant. I expected it to be a little pricey, but that’s what usually goes with fine dining. However, this was not what I expected, and it’s unfortunate. The food was decent, but also not worth what you pay for in the end. I hope that whoever goes, doesn’t expect a formal, fine dining experience, because this won’t be it.
Excellent - as alwsys
The hotel is really great but we were disappointed by this restaurant. The meals were tasteless and basically cooked.
We tried Cascade and 19th hole restaurant that are also located in the Biltmore and both were much better than this one that was supposed to be fine dining.
Wife’s birthday on Christmas.
The service was very slow. The waiter spilled oily food on my purse and it left a oily ring on the leather. Will not be coming back. Really disappointed.
The food was good, the service not so good. They brought the food before the wine, and then they brought the wrong wine. We ordered the steak medium raw and they over cooked it. They didn’t bring us bread, we had to ask for it.
We chose Fontana Restaurant at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, FL to spend our Christmas Eve dinner with the family. The food was superb, however the service was not good at all.
They first put us in area that didn’t merit the Biltmore Hotel, we requested to be changed, which they did after a half hour wait.
The service in general was not very good. Many of the items in the pre-fixed menu were no longer available, we had to choose whatever they had left. Our wine selection from their menu not available either, we had to go with a different wine.
The general experience was not what we expected, especially for what they were charging per person.
You expect high standards from a reputable place, maybe is not a good option to go to a restaurant for these type of dinners during the high holidays.
Everything was lovely, only the lack of staff, we noticed there were not too many servers, so we had to wait too long for the desserts and decided just to take it to go, since our 3 yr old was getting restless!
But, we love love La Fontana restaurant and we will be back!
Great experience. I like to go there for breakfast. The buffet is great and quick
Excellent food and service. Good value and even honored the table I requested!
The service and the ambiance were good. Unfortunately my wife’s main course was not. A pasta dish on the specials of the day was very dry and short on seafood. She returned it and decided not to replace it with a different dish since we’ve being already at the restaurant for a while. On the other hand the drinks, the appetizers, my main course and the desserts were pretty good. Not a 100% positive experience, but it is a good restaurant.
I eat here most Friday nights. Close to my home, not noisy, good food, interesting specials and usually good service. This night service was very efficient as most diners were needing to be finished before Gables Stage.
Not for those looking for a bill under 100 for two.
The food was cold and the service was terrible. Will never return.
Always delightful to have a meal at Fontana
Always lovely environment and great food.
Eli is an extremely courteous and professional manager. We were pleased to be greeted by him during the beginning of our dinner (celebrating our anniversary). He was very nice, welcoming, made us feel very welcomed. The Fontana Restaurant is very lucky and fortunate to have a caring progressional manager of his caliber. Thank you again!
My group and I were pleasantly surprised by how great an experience we had here. Although Fontana is in the Biltmore Hotel, the menu and wine were not overpriced. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. Everything we ordered was delicious. This is a great place for date night or any special evening.
Great service and excellent food, beautiful place to enjoy Miami.
One of our favorites venues at this fantastic hotel.
The waiting was awful the food took forever the waiters were lost. They pay for a wine glass because the wait
Part of the restaurant is on a beautiful courtyard. When we were there, though, it was not very pleasant. The restaurants had its own, rather loud, music track, and there was also live – very loud – music coming from a wedding reception elsewhere in the hotel. It was actually quite wonderful after both musics ended an =d you could hear your dining companions speak. Service was fine, but a little slow at times; the food was abundant, but a little uninspired.
Business lunch menu available weekdays is a great deal. The setting is wonderful and the food as well as service exceptional. Well worth the experience.
Great waiter - food...not so great. Tasted like chain restaurant food. Bland, chewy, 100% unremarkable.
We were seated at the inner patio, ambiance very nice, the food excellent and the service awesome. Great recommendations from Luis. My father in-law, who is a finicky eater, got a chicken breast with potatoes that was not on the menu. My father in-law just asked and he said yes, we can do that , without having to go and ask the chef and voila, it was delicious. Excellent all around, but Luis made it even more special!
Great food in a casual (business casual) setting. After dinner, take a walk/tour around the grand Biltmore Hotel. A great find on a typically busy Saturday night in even busier Coral Gables restaurants. Valet parking.
Not the cheapest in town but it is worth every penny. Fresh and delicious, i went with a party of 6 people so I tried a bunch of what they have to offer.
Spectacular special seared tuna with a sauce of tomatoes olives.
We sat outside in the beautiful courtyard with the “Fontana”. The service was very committed and attentive.
The dish selection is good but a little pricey. They have a good wine selection with really fair prices.
- Fresh tuna tartare, avocado, pea sprouts, watermelon radish, bell pepper dressing
Good quality, but the sauce was to sweet
- Curly spinach, feta cheese, watermelon, cranberry, walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, lemon vinaigrette
Fresh, good balance between sourness and sweetness. Too much cranberries
- LASAGNA, Bolognese sauce, béchamel, parmesan cheese
Good, not special (pricey, $24)
- POLIPO, Wood-roasted Spanish octopus, fingerling potatoes, salsa verde
Great taste, only the salsa verde isn’t the right companion.
Overall a great evening. We’ll come back.
The place is beautiful, food was delicious but my ravioli plate was not very big, my moms risotto was a good size though.
The service was a little slow, and I was located on a poor spot when almost all restaurant was empty.
I have dined here many times have have always enjoyed it immensely. The whole "vibe" of the Biltmore cannot be explained in mere words. You're literally dining in history. Countless others since 1926 have had occasion to have a meal here. Fontana does not disappoint. Only downer was the from desk/hostess staff. We arrived for a 6:00 p.m. reservation (which is quite early by Miami standards) and at first were the only guests there. We were told that we would be seated right away after advising that we preferred an indoor table. Another hostess came in and grabbed two menus only to put them down and begin stapling miscellaneous papers. Other guests arrived and the same occurred. Four parties were now waiting to be seated. We eventually were seated at a very nice table. Our server was excellent as was the food. Great place, other than first contact with staff.
Disappointed. It was very hot inside, food and service were just not good. I will not go back.
We really enjoyed our dining experience. We celebrated our anniversary, while still being able to be part of Miami Spice experience. The meal was delicious, though the wine was very expensive, even by the glass:
The ambiance was exactly how I imagined it to be. Great and friendly staff. Will definitely go again. And ofcourse the food was fresh and delicious
