Fontana at the Biltmore Hotel
Great food in a casual (business casual) setting. After dinner, take a walk/tour around the grand Biltmore Hotel. A great find on a typically busy Saturday night in even busier Coral Gables restaurants. Valet parking.
Not the cheapest in town but it is worth every penny. Fresh and delicious, i went with a party of 6 people so I tried a bunch of what they have to offer.
Spectacular special seared tuna with a sauce of tomatoes olives.
We sat outside in the beautiful courtyard with the “Fontana”. The service was very committed and attentive.
The dish selection is good but a little pricey. They have a good wine selection with really fair prices.
- Fresh tuna tartare, avocado, pea sprouts, watermelon radish, bell pepper dressing
Good quality, but the sauce was to sweet
- Curly spinach, feta cheese, watermelon, cranberry, walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, lemon vinaigrette
Fresh, good balance between sourness and sweetness. Too much cranberries
- LASAGNA, Bolognese sauce, béchamel, parmesan cheese
Good, not special (pricey, $24)
- POLIPO, Wood-roasted Spanish octopus, fingerling potatoes, salsa verde
Great taste, only the salsa verde isn’t the right companion.
Overall a great evening. We’ll come back.
The place is beautiful, food was delicious but my ravioli plate was not very big, my moms risotto was a good size though.
The service was a little slow, and I was located on a poor spot when almost all restaurant was empty.
I have dined here many times have have always enjoyed it immensely. The whole "vibe" of the Biltmore cannot be explained in mere words. You're literally dining in history. Countless others since 1926 have had occasion to have a meal here. Fontana does not disappoint. Only downer was the from desk/hostess staff. We arrived for a 6:00 p.m. reservation (which is quite early by Miami standards) and at first were the only guests there. We were told that we would be seated right away after advising that we preferred an indoor table. Another hostess came in and grabbed two menus only to put them down and begin stapling miscellaneous papers. Other guests arrived and the same occurred. Four parties were now waiting to be seated. We eventually were seated at a very nice table. Our server was excellent as was the food. Great place, other than first contact with staff.
Disappointed. It was very hot inside, food and service were just not good. I will not go back.
We really enjoyed our dining experience. We celebrated our anniversary, while still being able to be part of Miami Spice experience. The meal was delicious, though the wine was very expensive, even by the glass:
The ambiance was exactly how I imagined it to be. Great and friendly staff. Will definitely go again. And ofcourse the food was fresh and delicious
The waitress was very nice and was very helpful with my mom’s birthday dinner
Food and service were ok but we were overcharged with some charges we didn’t recognized
Nice setting. Loved the patio seating. Service was excellent but food was average
I got sick after eating lunch at the Fontana restaurant. I had a crab cake and chicken parmigiana. I will never eat there again. Health department needs to check this place for violations in food preparation.
I loved it, very friendly, great food, beautiful location. Thank you!
Restaurant has a very open and luxurious atmosphere both inside and out. The food was authentic, simple, rustic Italian food. Pasta and raviolis were cooked perfectly al dente and the service was very attentive. Only down fall is I felt there could have been more seafood dishes (Fish ie. Salmon etc.) and the dessert was sub par in my opinion from what i ordered. I had the nutella cake which was a little too rich/bitter in chocolate for my taste, and the peach cobbler which was slightly overly sweet, but again it is a peach cobbler. Overall, a very nice restaurant with tasty food, which also contains a wow factor due to the ambiance the famous Biltmore hotel provides
The food was ok, but the service was very good and the place is nice
The valet parking was great. We waited a few minutes to be seated by a host/hostess. Took a little longer than we expected. Our hostess was very friendly and apologetic for the wait. We were seated in the corner, which was great for the two of us. *We ordered our food from the Miami Spice Menu*The appetizers were great, I had the Crab Cake and my husband had the Carpaccio. I ordered the Chicken for my entree, it was good. Lots of food and it was a heavy meal, I took half home. The dessert was great! Our waiter was attentive and great. The restaurant was quiet enough. However, we did hear a lot of commotion from the waiters, servers, and employees; they were trying to figure out seating arrangements and going back and forth. Other than that small issue, the lunch date was wonderful!
Our waiter was amazing. Arnel. So kind and professional.
Always a very lovely place to have lunch.
Best Gnocchi of my life!
Beautiful hotel and great ambiance. Showed up to a reservation 5 min early; hostess told us it would be a while before a table cleared. They escorted us to the bar and the hostess forgot they sent us to the bar. Got a call from the restaurant 25 min later asking where we were. Told them at the restauran bar where you left us. We were asked to come back to the hostess area not a great start. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Food was ok; not good for the cost. The restaurant ran out of the fixed menu desert; they had to provide a substitute. Pretty place but there are much better places in Miami!
It was raining and we sat inside . It was a difference experience . Personally I would not go back unless it is at the courtyard. There is no ambiance inside .
The wine list should have a couple of cheaper wines. The cheapest one costs US$ 55.
Waiter got both parts of my order wrong. No apology. The food is good but place has the hotel restaurant attitude about who cares about loyal locals. The managers walk around absent minded to what is happening, or the body language of diners. Abracci anyone.
Fabulous lunch and just wonderful service!
Go for Miami spice. Really surprise by the menu and the quality of food. That was the 3rd time we go in this restaurant and we going back for sure. Quality of food is amazing !
Great food and great service.
Excelent wine! They recommended us Cillar de Silos (Spanish wine). Superb!
We had an amazing time. The food was delicious and our waiter Eduardo was great.
Nourriture très bonne dans un superbe décors.
The hostess made us wait 25 min to sit when there were multiple tables available. The person pouring the wine poured a new bottle of wine into our glasses with our fist bottle and mixed the two. The staff had large fans outside near the tables which made a lot of noise,
This is a very nice restaurant but it is grossly overpriced. The food is good quality but not especially interested. Service was disjointed.
In need of upgrades, looks and feels very tired! The chairs are vinyl and sticky. The table cloth was not evenly placed, one end was longer than the other and filthy dirty (seems like it was stepped on and overlooked). The food was ok. I ordered from the Miami Spice 2019 menu and was not impressed. The pork belly as a starter was terrible and very fatty and the salmon as my main was very oily. The only dish I enjoyed was the desert but I suppose you would have to try really hard to mess up a strawberry tart. Our server was nice but I was surprised when she asked “who’s Birthday are we celebrating” and came back with my desert and nothing more. All in all I would NOT recommend this restaurant.
Quiet. Food , service, ambiance spectacular and emilo our waiter was wonderful. Even the heat was no bother!
Sent food back. Very terrible food . Disappointing for a birthday lunch 👎🏻👎🏻
Impressive, reasonably priced, service was excellent.
el lugar es muy lindo y tranquilo. la comida estaba exquisita y nos atendieron super bien!
