Fontana at the Biltmore Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Service was not up to Standars! We waited 15 minutes for our Server, took wrong order for my 3 year old, had to change it.
Manager never stop by to do a Quality check on guest, I had better service in Privately Own Restaurants.
VERY LOUD due to a Wedding in Ballroom, could not enjoy a conversation with Wife!
The Place itself is very nice but then again everything falls apart with Service and Noise.
For a $400 rate per night Hotel the Service Is NOT there.
More like Ocean Drive type of Service.(SoBe)
Its a Shame!
On our most recent visit we went for the courtyard experience but because of threatened rain we were moved to a table under the eaves next to the entryway. Doors were constantly opening with gusts of wind and banging shut. Otherwise this is a grey place most of the time and the venue is truly stunning.
I have eaten at this restaurant several times because we are staying at the Biltmore Hotel. The food is great; unfortunately, the service is very inconsistent during holidays. Christmas Eve service was a disaster - it took over 30 minutes after being seated just to order drinks and another 15 minutes after that to order our food. The restaurant seemed overwhelmed with the Christmas Eve crowd that was dining. The delays continued after ordering and the manager did not seem to care about the disappointing situation. We went back for an early seating Christmas Day brunch and had an amazing experience with great food and fantastic service from a team of wait staff assigned to the table.
This was our second time at the Fontana. OUr first visit was spectacular and I would give everything 5 stars which is why we returned. This time, it wasn't as favorable as the first time, but it was Christmas Eve, so we are hoping the less than great experience we had was just due to the busy time and maybe being short-staffed on Christmas Eve (although you would expect a restaurant such as the Fontana to be appropriately staffed for a big night). Would probably give it one more try, but for a special occasion.
Usually great service. There were a few holiday parties on grounds and suspect restaurant was under staffed. We had a pseudo server who couldn’t get us water in 20 minutes or other drink in 30. Didn’t know specials. After about 1/2 hr experienced server took over. Food was very good.
Don’t go for a intimate and peaceful meal on a Friday or Saturday night if there is a wedding or other event happening. An otherwise wonderful experience was completely ruined by obscenely loud music (bass thumping) from upstairs. Staff just dismissed it as a “regular” complaint. One of the most beautiful courtyard dining settings around, but lost to the noise.
Relaxing. The ambience is one of a kind. Sit "outside" under the stars in the atrium dining room when weather permits as we did when we were there. The staff is very professional and the food was wonderful. Have dinner then just walk a few feet to GableStage for great theatre. It will be a night to remember.
We ate in the court yard which is really nice. The hotel was built in 1925 and the architecture is truly a treat to see. Not many places like this are left. Our food was really good and they always have nice Sancerre wines available. One great thing about eating outside is that noise level is minimal which as a hearing challenged person is very much appreciated. We go to the Gable Stage plays, eat at Fontana and stay overnight at the hotel. Makes for a superb weekend getaway for folks from Ft. Lauderdale.
Thanksgiving dinner at Fontana. The food was incredible: old school, high end Italian with a turkey and pumpkin orientation, in a romantic setting. Service, as usual, didn’t quite match the food quality ... friendly but just a little off given the price point and the food quality (“who had the risotto? Ah, yes”). But the food was superb. Best Thanksgiving meal ever.
A great choice for treating family, without having to clean up afterwards.
We went to try the Miami Spice Menu. The food was good. Is not a big portion so I left the restaurant missing something. The restaurant is located at the Biltmore Hotel , which means is not a modern place, but is nice. During the day, seating outside you will have a good view. The service was good and the entire staff. Not sure if I will return, but is good to visit at least one time.
Celebrated birthday at Fontana. Had dinner outside by the fountain. Service was excellent. Food was good, not great The margaritas were ok, but they cost $22 each. The Biltmore Hotel , on the other hand, is worth staying for 1-2 nights. The hotel staff could not be nicer or more friendly.
It really is a shame to witness what has become of La Fontana. Last months experience was unpleasant. Upon arrival there was no one at the reception desk, after a few minutes I went inside and located what appeared to be one of the managers and he sat us. The noise level was very high due to some large fans. There were only about there to four tables occupied on this visit and yet service was spotty at best. Case in point, it took more than 15 minutes and no bread service had arrived..I had to ask for it. It arrived with no butter and several very stale pieces of bread. I spoke to the manager and the bread was exchanged. The entrees arrived and one was good, the other not so good. Over the years, dining at La Fontana had always been a pleasant experience, One could rely on the service level, quality and taste of its cuisine...and of course, the ambiance. Sadly, that is no longer the case.
Good menu options, good service, at reasonable prices. The decor inside is more like a cafeteria than a classy restaurant. Too much light, boring decor, too quiet. It needs to add some ambiance and less lighting. Ot looks like outside seating is a much better option (more romantic), given the nice gardens and surroundings of the hotel
