Service was very slow and we saw two cockroaches which made us lose our appetite. I wouldn’t go back.
Since Flying Fish opened in it's original location it has consistently been first rate in every way. Add to that a waiter like Fernando and you've got a home run. He is one of the best in the city. Always a good time with good food and good service.

This is not the Flying Fish of old. The food was fair, but the service was lousy. I guess it is the new owners as we have not been there since it changed hands. There were two of us who have had great dinners there since it first opened in Belltown and after it moved to the Westlake location. But this was a disappointment. Wine list was unimpressive.
Presentation, top notch. I had the fried rockfish and way it left the fryer one would mistake it for an active fish if it weren’t for the fact that it was covered in a perfectly browned crust. Cooked to perfection, the fish held together just right, not overdone nor soggy. I had sitting in front of me the most playfully interesting fried fish, and without any wait. The powerful look of the plate was matched by its flavors; unfortunately, not in a good way as the flavors lacked balance. The crust of the fish was slightly too peppery which took away from the succulents beneath it. In addition, the accompanying mango anchovy sauce was an unpleasant mix of two ingredients I typically enjoy. On the other side of the table, my date had the fettuccine with Manila clams. Again, the clams were cooked just right, but the sauce’s onions were just too much and masked much of the flavor of the clams.
Nevertheless, the outing was nice. The place wasn’t overly packed and the waitstaff was attentive. I would perhaps come back if it weren’t for the many new places I need to try out since I am new to the city.
We brought out out of town guest here b/c she loves fish. They must have put their new waiter and new cook on for Saturday night (quiet around lake union on the weekends). Waiter said the salmon was king. No - coho. Other two fish dishes completely over cooked - dry, chewy. Sent them both back. Came back perfectly done, however. But... it was the second try. They gave us free bottle of wine and free salmon for our troubles. Nice gesture. But since when does a fish restaurant not know how to cook fish?
Just lacks uniqueness. Food is ok but not great. Same as last time that I was there. Not returning.
Superb dinner, excellent food cooked perfectly, wonderful service. One of the best dinners we’ve eaten recently in Seattle.

I was excited to come here, but the fish didn't taste fresh. Maybe had been frozen? There was no flaking involved. And our server didn't make eye contact with us and made us think he had somewhere else to be. But no one was in there. The martini was excellent, as was my date's drink. I was just hoping for something more.

This was our first visit to Flying Fish, and we actually decided to leave before ordering any food. We'd reserved a table for our anniversary dinner. In spite of having reserved, and the many empty tables in the dining room, they first only offered us a table in the bar, so we asked for something in the main restaurant. Then they offered us a table way in the back corner near what looked like an open kitchen; we instead asked for one of the front booths that looked more in the main flow. Once seated, we looked at the menu. It was so ordinary for its above average price level that neither of us could find anything pleasing enough to justify staying. Also there were no "daily specials" to compensate; this was due, they said, to getting ready for Valentines Day -- two weeks away! Regretfully, we left and decided to take our chances with a restaurant that we know and like downtown, where we ended up having an outstanding anniversary dinner experience. I will never be back to the Flying Fish. Deficient both in terms of customer service and menu offerings.
I was with three business colleagues. Our first time. We all commented on the setting and the youthful clientele and guessed, no offense, many were amazon techies who were enjoying themselves, as we were. Splendid Caesar and house salads. When one of our party unacquainted with Northwest cuisine ordered her salmon "well done," the server patiently explained that the chef would question him to make sure he heard correctly and ask him to come back to the guest to make sure. The only negative note: she ordered coffee after the meal. The French press coffee had a lot of grounds, and the cream on the table curdled. Server made everything right.

The restaurant was recommended as a favorite but we were disappointed. While nothing was bad, nothing was great either. We did enjoy their signature dungeness crab but not sure the effort was warranted. We had the smaller, happy hour portion as part of a tasting menu. It was tasty but very greasy, very messy and very little to eat.
New Year’s Eve prixe fix menu was insanely overpriced for just ok food.
Had dinner for New Year’s Eve. Food was good. But maybe not worth the price as it was a prefix menu and could only choose from a few options. Looked at menu prices for a normal night and was more reasonable. The service was above and beyond. Really made dinner feel special. Overall a great experience.
Nice meal with good service. For those used to the "old" Flying Fish, you will be disappointed. If you approach it as a completely different restaurant it is fine. Note to kitchen, Halibut was over cooked.
From the raw oysters, ahi poke, calamari to the salt and pepper crab, the food was excellent. Service was on point too
Although I have loved Flying Fish for many years, taking many people there because of reliably excellent affordable seafood, my experience recently was a big disappointment. First, service was incredibly slow. The waiter mentioned a "large party" as though that was an excuse to underserve my table. Then we were shorted on our 'dozen' oysters, and were questioned when we pointed it out. The seafood was barely warm when served and my salmon was quite fishy and did not seem fresh. The dessert menu is not even worth a perusal. I hope Flying Fish can recapture it's past magic. Perhaps I will return, but likely not.
Warned waiter to not over cook halibut dinners. But fish was delivered well done and dry. Sent back for redo. Second serving was wonderful. Waiter handled situation perfectly.
The customer service was OUTSTANDING! The food was great too! Reasonably priced for the type of restaurant and location. Highly recommended!

just like it's name- great seafood especially muscles and clams. The muscles in red curry are not to be missed. Had a share plate, salad, muscles and clam fettuccine Plenty for 4.
I’m a spoiled Pacific Northwest seafood fan. The food here is pretty decent, even for Seattle. Drinks were just okay. On a Saturday night the place was 3/4 empty, basically this is a lunch spot for Amazon workers. Dinner was $300 for 4 people, 1 drink each.
Years have gone by since we last ate at Flying fish. We thought we give it a try before a play. Sadly we weren't impressed. The food was just average and in a town of great fish we probably won't be back. People raved about the fish taco's and I just don't get it. But i do have friends that say my standard for fish taco's is high. The black cod was a little over smoked and my husband felt that it kind of ruined the delicateness of the fish. The desserts were very bland and not worth it. this makes me sad as we really did like this restaurant.
Nice ambiance on an early Saturday evening. Happy hour menu was vast and the fish tacos were fantastic!

The quality of their food has changed for the worst. The food was plain without any kind of seasoning. The only eatable and good tasting item during our lunch was a cup of clam chowder.

Not worth the price for the quality of food. Steak at $55.00 was tough and the Veal Chop $47.00 was raw. Staff was great and very helpful.
The food was fine but the service was poor. We had dinner on a Saturday around 5pm before our concert. There were a total of six tables with three servers total. Our server was not around. He was hanging out in the bar while our food was sitting on the kitchen counter waiting to be picked up. Finally another server picked it up and served it to us. Our server checked on us once and did not bother to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. It took forever to get our check. Not impressed.
Sadly, my entrée of Crab Ravioli was horrible. My friends had better experiences with the halibut and New York steak selections. I used to really like this restaurant and I like to support local chef owned establishments, but after 2 bad experiences I won't be trying this one again.
