Fly Bar & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Fly Bar has flown the coop. No longer a trendy yummy gem with small plates of intense flavor; now a bar with a few bites of non-memorable food. Lots of food, lots of salt, not much else. Very limited menu of food; mostly drinks.
Probably ok if you want to drink a lot and mop it up; but not for much else.
Server brought food and later on brought serving utensils.
Menu is limited, food quality is good and service is excellent. We dined on the sidewalk on a Saturday night and enjoyed the evening. Wines are reasonable and they have several specialty cocktails. The upstairs, out door bar has entertainment on the weekend and attracts an average 25-35 clientele.
We went to Tampa to view the "Art of the brick" art show. Had reservations for 6pm but we were done early so we tried to get to fly bar early. We were pleasantly surprised that we could get in . Food was great share plates for the four of us. Try the Kimchi Brussel sprouts OMG. The only difficulty was parking before 6 pm, but that's the big city. Our waiter Mikey was helpful and great. We will go back ( after 6 pm). LOL
Go for drinks and rooftop. Drinks, indoor bar and the rooftop are woodsy, have that "good kind of Hipster vibe" but also comfortable for suit and tie crowd, lots of after work happy hour goers and local college students from UT. Happy Hour drinks and food are a great value. However, dinner was..... smokey. All of our food had a deep cedar-like taste and was not appealing (Mac 'n cheese and broccoli especially). Salmon was amazing though and I'd order it again if I had to stay for a meal.
Great atmosphere. Went with my adult daughter who loves a creative cocktail menu. She really enjoyed her drink. I had a wonderful glass of wine. The food was delicious. Can't think of anything that was not fully enjoyable! Can't wait to go back - well actually we did go back two nights later!
Had a great time on date night with my wife the bar was very energetic the tapas was delicious the shrimp and grits I recommend they were out of this world The truffle mac & cheese was delicious and the Gouda cheese balls were to die for I highly recommend this restaurant for a quick meal before or after the theater keep up the excellent work The rooftop bar is a great setting to watch the sunset and have a few drinks
My friend and I ate here before a show at the Straz and it was perfect! We had a reservation and were seated right away, even though it was a pretty busy night . I had the butatta salad, which was fresh and yummy , and we shared the grilled avocado which was awesome with the addition of crunchy jicama sticks! The Smores dessert was amazing and I would highly recommend. The service was very efficient and attentive. It was also helpful that it was only a short walk to the show and we didn't have to move our car.
Sat quickly at 6 pm reservations. Party of 4. Drinks were slow, they were busy. Ordered apps then food. Food comes out as it is ready. Refills on drinks were slow as well. Need more bartender staff!!
Unfortunately 2 entree items took over 35 minutes. Our guests were completely done with their orders before ours came out. Other tables received food (same items) before we did.
Waitress took late items off check which was thoughtful but no management came to apologize.
This first negative experience at Fly Bar. Food is unique and delicious. Great place to come before show at Straz. Will continue to frequent Fly Bar as it is very good.
Great atmosphere. Had a wonderful time getting food and drinks before a show at the Straz. The food is tapas style and was absolutely amazing. The panko crusted goat cheese was out of this world. Very friendly staff and great service. Will be going back soon!
