Food was delicious and plentiful. The service was very attentive. The environment was energetic and fun. A great dinner out overall.
Prompt and polite service with delicious food. Brought my in-laws here to celebrate my husband’a birthday and everyone loved it. Will definitely be back!
Perfect for a friends' get-together. We went during the week so didn't get to experience the rooftop bar. I'd like to do that next time. Very pleasant experience. Our waitress was great and the food was tasty.
Great atmosphere and staff. The food was excellent!
Have loved going here before seeing a show at the Straz but there are changes to the menu and service that were not positive. We made a reservation which we didn’t need at 6:00 and chose to eat outside. The bar/happy hour menu has changed and it now ends at 6. We loved ordering and sharing small plates but those too have changed and are limited. The food we chose was still good, a burger and fish tacos.
The menu has changed and is NOT what is posted online. Fewer selections and higher prices. Service was unbelievable. Asked for additional napkins because the burger (truly medium rare) with aioli was so juicy and the waiter asked if I knew I had a napkin on my lap!! If course I knew but if I used only that for this I couldn’t have gone anywhere but the dry cleaner afterward. Slow and quirky for an off night is best description.
A great place to dine before an event at the nearby Straz Center PROVIDED you get a seat outside where the noise level is tolerable. View of restored historic building and lots of trees evokes New Orleans. Food is not haute cuisine but imaginative and tasty. Wait staff are personable and attentive. One could become a regular here.
We were there early so the noise level was low but from the looks of the stage, speakers, and hard surfaces throughout I'm sure it gets very noisy. Menu is very limited for food. This is more a bar than a restaurant. Not ideal for us 50+.
My dinner companion ordered the Burger and I had the Hangar Steak. My friends burger arrived a good 15 minutes before my meal. He insisted on waiting to eat until my food arrived so that we could dine together. I pointed out the time discrepancy to our server who said ... "that's how our kitchen is set up, we cook each order individually". I really don't care. Two people dining together should have their meals cooked, timed and served TOGETHER.
My salmon with pineapple fried rice was supurb. My husband loved his steak, too. Just enough twists on ordinary food to make it extraordinary.
Pre-theater. 5:30 reservation. Seated promptly. Server was very nice, not particularly outgoing. Food came out as it was ready, which was fine. We were sharing all the plates so it worked out well. He did tell us that they did not have heat lamps to hold food, but we were expecting tapas style service anyway. All good. Only complaint was that last dish (curry noodle shrimp) came out long after we finished everything else. Our server told us twice that it would be out shortly. If it had come out in a timely fashion we would have ordered desserts but we were running out of time. Other than that little hiccup, we enjoyed our experience and will come again.
The burrata salad was delicious!
Fun, funky atmosphere, good food, great service. Love this place.
The burrata citrus salad was delicious and the Korean glazed salmon with pineapple rice was amazing. Leah is an exceptional waitress with a keen knowledge of wine.
They have a strange way of charging for Mojitos. They charge for the shot of alcohol separate to the drink.
The Salmon took a very long time to come out, I think the order got dropped but they compd it.
Surprisingly delicious dishes. Perfect portions for pre theater dining at the Straz.
Loved the coconut shrimp dish.
Small, bar atmosphere great food.
Great music, great food - overall superb.
My fiancé and I go to Fly Bar every Wednesday night for the live jazz duo. The music is perfect for the venue and they change up the playlist regularly, covering pop and indie songs in an original way. Luckily, Valentine’s Day landed on a Wednesday this year and as always, Fly Bar delivered. The service at Fly Bar was fantastic and the kitchen was really quick with the food even though they were pretty busy. We’ve tried probably 7 different menu items and everything has been delicious. The mac n cheese and the Brussels sprouts are my favorites.
We were their on a Monday Night. The waitress made sure we took advantage of the last few minutes of the happy hour specials available once we were seated. The food was delicious and the service attentive. We were surprised and pleased about the live musician that came on stage half way thru our time there.
While in Tampa for a conference, we happened upon Fly and had the most wonderful dining experience. Their Sangria was the best I have ever had and the appetizers were terrific. We then ordered a meal - so delicious and unique. Thank you for making a Tennessean feel at home!
Reservations for 8 and we were set in a booth! When I explained that there was no way a booth set for 4 could accommodate 8, hostess said “oh well, that’s what we always do”.
Shame on you! Her response - you can wait for other tables to clear. So why did I bother making my birthday dinner reservations if you didn’t bother to accommodate? Staff is awful! Pretentious, unfriendly and given the new competition in the neighborhood, why bother ? This venue better step up the customer service!!!
We enjoyed appetizers and drinks. We had excellent service. And the drinks were delicious.
Always love the fly bar. Hip atmospheres and incredible food/service. Erin is an amazing server who made everything perfect!
Excellent, efficient service and delicious food! Would highly recommend!!
Delicious seasonal small plates with a regularly changing and creative menu.
Poor service, my three friends were completely done with your dinner before my dinner came out and we had asked numerous times. They have a very small kitchen and appears they make like one meal at a time. They weren't overly busy so this should not of happened. Also portions are extremely small top of sized which is fine but the prices were more for larger portions. There's too many great places in Tampa to go to now I would not recommend this for food or for drinks as my husband's cocktail was in the size of a juice glass.
My daughter and I happen to be in Tampa for New Year’s Eve. Lyft driver recommended we go here. It’s was ok. Menu not very big but the tuna appetizer was good. Also got the fries... too much for two people. The hanger steak was good but very small portion. Drinks were good. Service was great til they got busy and then I felt like we were forgotten!! Music was wayyy too loud!! Hard to have any kind of conversation!! Didn’t stay to ring in New Years!
Service was friendly and attentive. Love the variety of options including those for vegetarians and omnivores alike. Great find.
Fly Bar is one of my favorite spots and it never disappoints! I have dined there often for dinner with friends or before shows at the Straz Center. You can’t beat the $5 sangria and half price bar fare—those sliders and the truffle Mac & cheese...so delicious. Actually, we’ve never had a bad dish! Definitely will return!
mostly a bar not a restaurant
limited food choices
This is a go-to place for my friends and me, especially when we just want a drink or two and an appetizer. The food is always good!
Service was great. Timing for food for party of five came out perfect. No one was waiting for their food. Thx
Tasty menu— items on menu changes often
Fly Bar has flown the coop. No longer a trendy yummy gem with small plates of intense flavor; now a bar with a few bites of non-memorable food. Lots of food, lots of salt, not much else. Very limited menu of food; mostly drinks.
Probably ok if you want to drink a lot and mop it up; but not for much else.
Server brought food and later on brought serving utensils.
Good food and fast & friendly service. Clean restroom.
Great food but very noisy. Couldn’t hear across the table.
Food was really good and came out very quickly. Wine was not the best quality but the cocktails were better.
Live music was a bonus!
Even though the menu was small, the food had big flavors. The Spicy Kin Chee Brussel Sprouts were my favored. The short ribs were my least favorite only because they were a little dry.
Nice outdoor space
