Delightful restaurant. Attentive service; well-prepared, tasty food; pleasant room.
Scallops and steak frites entrees were delicious, but steer clear of the radicchio appetizer (soggy and lacked balance, too bitter).
My sister was visiting and my apt building water was turned off and made last minute reservation for 8 pm on Sunday at 7:30 pm. Went was seated and because of time or it was Sunday, not many tables were occupied do we felt we could comfortably linger over a leisurely meal. We had fabulous sidecars, shared a pasta, had sea bass and scallops (which upon tasting, wish I had ordered even though my fish was delicious)! And can't recall the wine but it was good and dessert and coffee rounded out the dinner on a high note and best of all, plumbing emergency was over!! I always have a great dinner there and it is a special place as I celebrated my 60th there with family and friends in the private room!
Wish it was open for lunch!
This is a wonderful, warm and bistro friendly staff and excellent service. Especially good martinis.
The food:
- Tiny 4 bite (really!) salads for $11/12
- Overcooked, dry duck confit
- Undercooked chicken with mushy skin
This used to be a favorite, comfort food spot but it is apparent the kitchen is on autopilot. I hope they can get it together as the room is one of my favorites (and the only reason they got 2 vs 1 star).
Excellent Italian food. I had the seafood stew and my wife had the bucatini with meat balls. Both excellent. Interesting wine list. We had a lovely Muller-Thurgau from northern Italy that stood up well to the spicy stew and meat balls. The service was friendly, efficient, and unobtrusive. We called before arriving to ask about parking. The very friendly and gracious maitre-d' suggested that we park in the loading zone beside the restaurant's front door. Terrific.
Had the fish stew, it was very bland and did not have a lot of fish. The broth was pretty tasteless it could have used some spice or vegetables. The dish was not worth the money.
We had a party of 8 at 6:30 and it was a perfect evening. Great menu with lots of food choices for everyone. Fresh complimentary bread was outstanding. Seafood and pastas. All great. Would highly recommend.
my wife and I always eat here when visiting SF. great ambiance. great food. great service. Their pan broiled chicken is amazing. so simple yet so good.
can't wait to go back.
Our waiter was great, young guy with dark hair and glasses, very patient and helpful. We loved our dinner! Seafood stew, roast chicken and steak. Elegant and cozy space.
A neighborhood gem on Fillmore. Cozy, comfortable, good food, good drinks, people watching. Good place for a date or business dinner. A consistently satisfying experience. We go there about once a month. Has become a "go-to" place.
The people who work at Florio are very nice—and take excellent care of us
The food is good :the place a welcome warm well designed ambience : great helpful efficient staff : fresh food : the best fries / exceptional chicken and addictive pasta
Always a great place to dine ! Often, we will eat at the bar and enjoy that as much as the dining room area.
This is a special spot that is a gem in a lively neighborhood and a destination for discrete diners. Excellent traditional cuisine. Friendly welcoming competent staff . Warm environment : small bar : Just Sweet & such a treat !
Always delicious, always consistent. Great food, service and ambiance.
Florio was delicious! Ambiance is a neighborhood feel. The restaurant was not too loud to enjoy a private conversation. Neighborhood gym!
The restaurant definitely impressed my date and me. The ambiance, design, lighting and decor is warm and artistic, with a combination of woods, earthy tones, metal accents and art everywhere. The food was spiced in a way that made the natural flavors come alive - we tried this muscle/shrip soup dish which had probably the best seasoned shrimp I've ever tasted.
The atmosphere is happening on a Friday night. We had a table inside from the door (away from the bar) along the wall. The noise level was high enough that I had to lean in forward many times over the evening to hear what my date was saying. I think the tables were positioned too closely together and felt like we were practically shoulder to shoulder with other diners and nearly sharing our conversation. If the restaurant were to remove a table and just spread those out a little more it would actually make it a bit more intimate.
Overall, great experience!
My fries were cold. Good besides that.
Very NYC in style with its jammed boutique table setting and hustle and bustle of the servers! If you want t to feel like you are in s hot spot off Filmore ...this is it!!
The chicken was delectable! Florio has been my neighborhood favorite for years and it's always a delight!!!
Over priced for average food
The most miserable dinning experience in recent memory. The place was cramped and noisy. We were sat next to a group of rowdy and vulgar businessmen. We can hardly hear ourselves the entire meal. The food was average at best. The roasted carrots with my chicken was completely undercooked. Portion for salad was so tiny it was laughable. $30 Seafood stew was bland and came with mostly mussels sprinkle with a couple of scallops and shrimps. My friend’s $36 steak was underwhelming at best. The best thing about the whole meal was the cheesecake tartlet. It was soft and creamy on top of cherry or cranberry sauce. But by that time I couldn’t wait to finish and leave. This wasn’t my first time being there but the experience made me regret picking it for my birthday dinner.
While I listed everyday dining, it’s also a place to go for special occasions or a date. It takes me to a bistro I used to frequent when I worked in Paris, but it also feels like home. Great service. Great food. Great ambiance.
Neighborhood gem
Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu was wonderful, our reservation was a bit late at night so by the time we got seated and started eating the tables around us cleared out and it was pretty private. It was absolutely wonderful!
We had a fabulous night here. Great cocktails, great food, and the service was perfect. We will be back!
Good food, good service but too much noise.
Frisee salad w grapefruit left a lot to be desired. 'Famous' roast chicken skin was completely black as were the carrots that came with it. I expect a higher standard for the price point.
Great service! Great food!
A New York feeling with a great vibe, good food, good professional service,
and good drinks. One of the best spots for something fun and stylish with
a casual but nicely dressed folks.
It was great. I love Florio. It’s a great neighborhood place
Very enjoyable meal. Friendly staff. Good food. Good service. We have been going there for 18 years. It is better than ever.
Nice atmosphere, however, the food was rather generic and a bit sub par.
Lovely comfortable ambiance ; the meal was enjoyable. Started with a salad described as radicchio with quinoa; however, it should’ve been described as quinoa with traces Radicchio . I enjoyed it but felt being described as the salad was misleading.
Main course of duck confit with white beans was fabulous. The duck was crispy and moist not greasy at all and the white beans added a comforting complement to the duck. Would have loved a cheese course to finish the meal but alas the restaurant does not offer. Note to restaurant, why not? With all the great she’s available in San Francisco and the French bistro styling of the restaurant seems like a natural to have on the menu.
With all the wonderfulness the restaurant offers in food and ambience, it was unfortunate I thought that the service did not measure up. Maybe the waiter was overworked but he was very inattentive, and I had to wave to him to gain his attention to attend to us several times during the meal.
All in all an enjoyable occurrence and I will go back to Florio with the hope that the service picks up.
My wife and I had a great meal and time once again at Florio! We started at the bar and had a couple fantastic cocktails. We moved to our table and had one of the best dinners in the many times we've been up to San Francisco. My wife ordered the Pappardelle with braised beef cheek sugo, marsala, manchego and I ordered the Pan Roasted Chicken. Both dishes were to die for!
Thanks again Florio for making our anniversary dinner amazing!!
Service was outstanding. Reservation mix-up but host handled it seamlessly. One of our favorite neighborhood haunts.
Nice spot, great food. We liked our server. Great date night.
Gloppy soup, peculiar and miserly beet salad, dry over-cooked ungenerous portion of hanger steak served in unsightly chunks for $38 was shockingly overpriced. Good frites though....
Such a warm intimate space : friendly great service and good fresh caring cuisine . Nice vibes
