This was my second visit to this restaurant. I liked it so much the first time that I had to return while visiting the DC area. This visit, on a Thursday night at 7:30pm, was not as fantastic as my first.
Our server was polite and attentive enough but he did not know the menu as well. He could not offer advice based on my preferences but rather on his. When I asked about two entrees he said he would pick x over y because he wanted to have meat. He was a nice young man who will do well with more training.
The starters are very large. I did not remember this and we both ordered one -way too much.
The pasta is where this restaurant shines. Nice delicate sauces where all the flavors and ingredients are able to shine.
I enjoy trying different restaurants when I travel and rarely visit the same place twice when revisiting a city like DC where there are so many nice choices. Floriana was so good the first time that I made an exception. The meal was very good and I don’t really regret the decision.
We felt special. We had the best experience In the Downstairs bar. up stairs for privacy . The most notable Italian food. Felt like we were dining in family home
Loved the meal (appetizer and main), but being a dessert person, I felt limited!
Great date night spot! Cozy and delicious
The arancini was just okay this time. They changed the sauce on the plate which was too sweet and didn’t go well with the dish. Also, I ordered the lasagne for the first time and was sorely disappointed. This was an unfortunate dinner.
Absolutely the best rustic Italian meal we've ever had! The pork shank is to weep over, as is the beef short ribs. Don't miss the panacota desert. Perfect.
Really good friends get-together. Butternut squash ravioli was excellent. The only minor drawback was that I sat next to a window near the fireplace and it was quite chilly.
The food was okay. Server okay - except that he was so busy with two tables of male finders that he either forgot to submit our order or just didn’t pick it up. There was a half-hour gap between appetizers and entree. Greeter at the door was also pretty casual. In short, for the price the service is pretty horrible.
The restaurant was lovely this evening. Our server explained to us the special risotto of the evening, which I ordered, and it was outstanding. Half price wine on Sundays made it an even better value. Absolutely love Floriana.
We haven't been to Floriana in a long time and forgot how good this restaurant really is. Food and service was excellent. We'll be back!
This has become our place to eat before theater at the J with the girls.. It is a lovely, quaint dining experience. The service is wonderful, the ambiance lovely, the food delicious. Can't wait to go with my husband.
Love this restaurant, so am sorry to have to say that this is the first meal I've had there that was not totally wonderful, as is the norm. My dining partner was thrilled and commented that his dish (lasagna) was too hot to eat immediately, whereas mine was lukewarm (smoked salmon hash) except for the freshly cooked sunny side up eggs on top. Assume the hash sat there awaiting the eggs. Ended up taking the leftovers home though, where they made a terrific lunch the following day.
So delicious! Marco was great! It was fabulous from start to finish. The staff was great, the dining room was cozy and charming.
Exceptional! Food was amazing, especially the lasagna. Great smaller restaurant with incredible charm.
Celebrating a new job with friends and our server was attentive, and made great recommendations. Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and high quality with a good value.
Perfect night dine outside and enjoy great food. The beet salad was excellent and the salmon had a wonderful lemon dill flavor. Our service was a little slow and we should have told the waiter we had a commitment after dinner, otherwise it was the perfect way to dine and relax.
Wonderful menu and delicious food and presentation. Attentive and friendly service. Lovely dining room.
It did not start well at all; we had an 8:00pm reservation and did not get seated until 8:35pm. I feel that that is completely unacceptable and indicates poor management. The saving grace for this experience was the bartender downstairs and also our server during dinner. As we waited 35 minutes for our table, we were directed to the downstairs bar which was extremely crowded. The bartender was attentive and personable; even bringing our drinks and wine out into the crowded area. Once we arrived to our table, our server was apologetic and determined that the rest of our experience would be positive. She was attentive and provided great insight into the various dishes on the menu. The food was good but the only reason I would go back is if management can get their act together and ensure that diners with reservations don’t have to wait so long to be seated.
Calamari was best we've had in awhile. Not overdue. Entrees were very good. Same for the desserts. A bit on the noisy side for easy coversation.
Whenever I go to Washington, I try to visit Floriana. The food is exceptional, the service attentive, and the overall experience very pleasant. Wait staff are well informed about both food and drink selections, the location is quite accessible, and the quality is of a high standard. In addition, their Sunday and Wednesday wine specials are a particular treat.
As always this place has great food with great mood and awesome service!
Valentines Day dinner, great menu for occasion. 4 course meal with desert, variety to choose. Very Romantic, and the service was awesome. The meal was pricey though.
Great service,great food!!
The waitress was very attentive and funny. I really enjoyed it for brunch
Overall food was pretty good, salami and cheese board was the only major flaw, butternut squash ravioli was excellent and the tortelloni mignon was quite good.
good but not great! only saw our waiter about every 30 minutes, even before we ordered and asked him to come back in a minute as we reviewed the wine menu
Had a wonderful meal--no one was unhappy with their meal. Great service.
Floriana was recommended to us and we are glad to have taken the time to be there.
I had the squash soup with pumpkin seeds...it was good. The seeds were a bit over cooked but the soup was still good flavor. I also had a homemade ravioli with spinach and mushrooms...very good. My spouse had the lasagna. He LOVED it. We were there on a Wednesday evening and the special was half off all bottles of wine. We like that too.
The service was excellent. Michael was our server. He was very attentive, as was the young woman helping him. I accidently left my CC and Michael called me to let me know. Very nice.
Floriana is without a doubt our favorite Italian restaurant in DC! We try to visit on Wednesday or Sunday when wine is half off, but it's worth it regardless! The tortelloni mignon is one of my favorite pasta dishes of all time, as well as the lobster taglierini, and you can't miss the calamari - it's done perfectly every time.
The wine and food were delicious, the service was attentive and discerning. The seafood risotto was a MUST HAVE.
Such a beautiful and intimate restaurant. Sundays are half price bottle of wine. No restrictions. Food was phenomenonel. Unique dishes you would not find on a typical Italian restaurant menu.
Floriana has been a date night "go-to" for us, going on a few years now. Food is great. Service is usually great, with the occasional hiccups, to be expected anywhere. The staff are friendly and accommodating. They value great customer service in additional to serving excellent Italian cuisine.
The food was very good, specifically the appetizers and bread were excellent. It was a great experience and the only thing that brought the rating down was the very long time between the appetizers and the main course.
We would definitely recommend the restaurant!!! Amazing food and service!
Ate at Floriana in November and really enjoyed this neighborhood restaurant. Came again for the truffle oil risotto with shrimp and scallops. Two of us ordered this. We had to send the dish back. It contained no truffle taste, was “flat”,with no taste and not very hot. The waiter was very professional and took the plates back to kitchen. The plates came back tasting as wonderful as the dish is. The waiter was very apologetic and gave us complementary desserts. He told us not to order the chocolate moose: the table next to us sent it back to the kirchen it was so bad. We ordered the pear ginger cloufount: it was the very worse dessert we ever had: gummy flour taste. The carrot cake was not much better: hard and without flavor. How these culinary disasters could be served is beyond our imagination.
I did tell the waiter our disappointment as we left. If this is the quality for this restaurant, it will not survive. Too bad, as November it was wonderful.
The waiter was very helpful with our wine choice and service was good. We came hungry having been touring for hours. The bread and pesto was not at all special, but we looked forward to experiencing the food based on wonderful reviews. The Fried Brussels Sprouts appetizer and wine (at 1/2 price on Sunday) were the highlights. My dining companions also enjoyed the Mushroom Crespelle appetizer. The Caesar Salad, even with our added anchovies was average. Two of us had the duck; the meat was wonderful but served with very bland Gnocchi. The third in our party had a pasta with somewhat more interesting gnocchi. The chocolate mousse was quite good but the tiramisu unremarkable. It was fine for the price, but we would happily have paid more for a more memorable dining experience.
Floriana still has the best lasagna. The restaurant also has a fantastic Sunday brunch.
