Everything was fantastic. Half price bottles of wine was definitely a plus! Thanks to everyone. We will definitely be back next time we are in DC
Let your eyes be impressed. Plating of the food was excellent. I don't know if the chef had an off day or what. All of the food had hidden heat in it. It was like someone put hot pepper in the salt shaker in the kitchen. The squash soup was inedible because it was so spicy. The heat came from something which didn't have much of a taste (like white pepper but without the pepper taste) It was just heat. The food would have been spectacular, without the heat. I like some foods spicy, but none of our food would have been accentuated with heat. Service was excellent but I hope our waiter gave the chef my note that about leaving the heat out.
Love the food at Floriana! Have eaten primarily on the patio in the Summer and Fall. This was my first Spring meal Indoors at Floriana. Everything is delicious and beautifully made! The only issues are poor acoustics that make conversation difficult, tiny tables that make eating awkward, and dim lighting that makes it hard to read the menu, let alone see the person's lips across from you.
Sorry if I sound nit-picky, but had I known this restaurant was so noisy and dark, I would've gone elsewhere for dinner.
Always a great meal! Best Italian in DC!
I would have given Floriana's all outstanding reviews except for two things: 1) the noise level is pretty bad; and 2) while most of the menu items are fabulous, there are a few items that are very "meh." For example, the Burrata Ravioli was very flavorful but the Ravioli de Zucca (with butternut squash) was extremely bland and overly sweet. Other selections at our dinner were all outstanding, including the Scallop and Shrimp Risotto and the very small but extremely tasty Beet Salad.
Took a friend from out of town to Floriana for lunch
We got lamb gnocchi and lasagna
Last week Had lunch at Batali ’Massa’ , one of the top rated restaurants in L.A. and Floriana was much better ,
in terms of quality of ingredients and presentation
Our server Mario was fabulous
Outstanding service. I have been coming here off and on for several years and bringing out of town visitors both business and family. It uniformly gets rave reviews, effusive praise, and sincere expressions of gratitude for having given them the experience. There is not a questionable item on the menu and certainly some of the most reasonable prices in the District.
Our first visit to Floriana’s for my husband’s birthday and everything was perfect- the service and food were excellent. We will be back!
Eaten many places in Washington and this is one of he best. Food is great, atmosphere is relaxed and intimate
Loved our waiter, and the owner hailed a cab. The lasagna was great. Would go back again
Our server was extremely attentive and helpful in making recommendations on the menu. He suggested the lamb. We got the lamb special and the lamb gnocchi. In both dishes the lamb was cooked to perfection. The lamb gnocchi was in a savory and rich sauce that was over the top good. Our table also got the lasagna and tortellini mingon. Those dishes were good, but not as good as the lamb. The wine list provided variety.
Food was pretty good. Service was attentive. Two orders of carrot cake that were very dry. They took them back and said they'd take off bill, but afterwards we noticed only one was taken off.
I absolutely love this restaurant! Unique, delicious Italian cuisine in a beautiful setting. The staff is attentive and always engaging and we had a marvelous dinner. Thank you!
Great food. Sat for 20 minutes before we got waited on after being seated. When someone started serving us it was fine but he came because he noticed our waiter had blown it. A bit on the loud side but the food made up for it.
Our food was hit or miss. One pasta dish (ravioli) was very good; the gnocchi was so bland it had no flavor at all. And our third pasta dish was so-so. We did have a good salad, and the pesto that comes with the bread is tasty. But I would definitely not eat there again.
Food was delicious. Great service. Overall an extremely pleasant dining experience. Definitely have to go back.
Wonderful Italian food in an intimate brownstone setting in one of my favorite neighborhoods in DC. Great service and prix fixe menu as well.
Just ok food. Service wasn’t on par with other similar restaurants.
It was just amazing and delicious from appetizers through main dishes and dessert. The four of us were in gastronomical heaven. The owner is charming and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The atmosphere is subdued and energetic at the same time. Service excellent. Go there!
The best Italian restaurant in the DC area that we've been to so far after moving her three and a half years ago. Outstanding menu and great tasting food.
Charming multi-floor restaurant a short walk from Dupont Circle. Wonderful service and food. The portions were generous and the homemade pastas were delicious. Next time we’ll check out the lower level bar. You need to make reservations in advance.
Relaxed and friendly setting. Great food. A nice neighborhood vibe. Will definitely go again and will recommend.
Never a negative experience in all the years we’ve been going.
Everything was wonderful. When I walked in I was greeted and told it would be no problem for our party of 5 to have a drink downstairs at the really, really small bar ((I had remembered it when it was the Blue Mercury bar and wanted to show out of towners...) When I returned upstairs a minute later (the bar was full) it ws no problem. Our table was waiting. One in the party asked about 3 menu items. The waiter said "I'll surprise you! Let me choose." So she did and was blown away by the waiter's choice. Service was attentive but not over-bearing. We were on the main floor of the former townhouse and even tho the space is relatively small, the tables are well spaced and we weren't bothered by other diner's conversations. This is a lovely Italian restaurant that deserves your consideration when looking for a moderately priced night out.
Overall the experience was great! However, they made some changes to the wine list that weren’t updated. Also, the server could have been more attentive during the meal.
The food was amazing and came out quickly. I’ll definitely return.
Very intimate and romantic. It did get crowded and loud. Service was excellent. Everyone had a great meal, I had the Sunday Gravy and it was awesome. Terrific wine selection and great cocktails. It was Wednesday so bottles were half off, so we drank really well.
It was possibly the noisiest restaurant we've ever visited. There were two large, noisy groups seated within 10 feet of our table. There is a second room in the back and perhaps large groups should somehow be separate from table for two or four. In spite of that we had a great meal and will return. The service was outstanding. We were going to a show and had no safe way to take our leftovers and our server, Robert, arranged for them to be put in a refrigerator and we picked them up after the show.
Were it not for the high noise level, I would have rated all categories a 5. The food is creative but not weird. The chicken liver pâté was amazing as were the duck and Caesar salad. Good wine selection. But the noise level was really awful in a crowded townhouse setting. Maybe hanging tapestries on the walls would buffer the noise? Very hard to have a conversation without yelling.
We love the mussels and the wine on Sunday’s. Of course the other menu items are amazing too!
Easter dinner with our son. Did not understand there would be brunch only menu when I made the reservation. Food was fine though the service seemed less than optimal. Waiter pleasant and polite, but seemed new to the job? Otherwise a pleasant meal.
Food and service is always exceptional! The is our favorite restaurant in DC!
What a treat- exceptional food, service and quaint ambiance nice bar with great rye Manhattan cocktail and great wine selections! Loved the seafood risotto and their house made fresh northern Italian pesto!!
Your bartender makes wonderful cocktails. My date and I asked if he could randomly whip up cocktails for us—boy did he! I guess we will have to return ASAP for fear that’ll he’ll forget the ingredients ;)
Great cocktails aside, the entrees were delicious on their own right. Perfectly crusted and seasoned rockfish, and melt-in-your-mouth lasagna (preceded by the best arancini I’ve ever had. In short, we will see you next month, and every following month.
whenever we come to DC we have a special treat at Floriana. Wonderful food and the nicest, most attentive owner --Jamie, who takes trouble over every detail. A lovely venue. It is to be highly recommended.
Great quality food. Wonderful flavors start to finish!
Delicious food and great armosphere
Appetizers and entrees were very good. Disappointed with the tiramisu. It was watery. Most likely it had been defrosted.
We had an AMAZING dinner at Floriana while visiting D.C. The restaurant is very intimate, in an old brownstone. Our server was very attentive and the food was outstanding. We had such a good dinner (Black Gnocchi appetizer, Squash Soup, Salad, Tortelloni Mignon, Braised Short Rib, Lasagna) that we almost went back the next night!
I have NEVER been disappointed with this restaurant. I grew up with authentic Italian food always being cooked in our kitchen, and their Sunday gravy is the closest to my great-grandmother's Sunday gravy that I have found. LOVE IT!!!!!
