I have had good experiences historically at Floriana. I brought my aunt and uncle here for dinner thinking it was a safe place to bring family. The food was decent but the service was awful. We were never seen by the same server and no one really made an effort to see what we needed. We had to flag someone down for each and every thing we needed. Additionally, my boyfriend was brought the wrong dish and they weren’t even apologetic - the server rolled her eyes at us! I was pretty embarrassed bringing my family there, and don’t think I’ll ever go back.
Very good value with price fix 3 course meal. Ambience nice. Head waiter made great recommendations
The service is amazing — waiters covering up each other and are willing to go extra miles in making the dining experience amazing. We even saw the waiter helping a parents taking care of their kid and teaching the little girl how to set up table, how to serve food, etc.
The food is also amazing — scallop risotto is so good that I am still thinking about it after two days.
Great waiter. This is this first waiter I have seen in DC that did not come to the table and interrupt the conversation with today’s specials, etc. The woman at the table was talking and the waiter patiently waited until she finished. One detraction is the metro was closed and there is no where to park within a mile of the restaurant. I programmed a few parking garages into my GPS and they were all closed. Took me 40 minutes to find a parking spot.
Great service and amazing food as always!
A lovely little restaurant with a relaxed peaceful atmosphere. Nice lunch. Friendly service. Good wine list.
Floriana was the second restaurant I visited after moving to the Dupont Circle area in September 2018. And, it is the restaurant I go to most frequently, and not just because it is a block from my house -- as there are tons of options in the area. The food is consistently excellent, the staff is consistently attentive, and the menu is frequently updated. And then there is the bonus of half off bottles of wine on Sundays and Wednesdays! I also want to note that I'm gluten free -- and even though Floriana is an Italian restaurant, it has many options for me and the kitchen is very accommodating.
Floriana is always good, but on this particular visit, it was better. The service was outstanding -- friendly and prompt. We were there for Sunday brunch. Both the mushroom omelette and the Prosciutto Benedict were excellent. The Caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes and a slightly sweet balsamic dressing -- very good. Desserts were equally good. The fact that bottles of wine were 50% off on Sundays (& Wednesdays) didn't hurt. Floriana is a real neighborhood gem.
Floriana is especially great for a date night- the ambiance is wonderful and the food never fails to impress.
Always incredible food and service. Our go-to.
A delicious meal in the heart of Dupont; We will be back!
Our server Tim was excellent. He was very attentive and helped us with pairing our dishes with a wine that complemented it perfectly (fairly large wine list).
The restaurant manager also came by to make sure all of our needs were met which was a nice compliment to the meal. Looking forward to dining here again very soon.
First...the food was great. The Shrimp/Scallop Risotto is not to be missed. What's keeping me from giving this place 5 stars though is that it was unreasonably DARK. I'm not talking about dim mood lighting...but to us it was like barely any light making reading the menu impossible and it was embarrassing for my wife to have to turn on her camera flashlight (yes, we needed that much light to see the menu). And unfortunately the end...it was our anniversary but we told the waiter that we were too full to eat anymore. He sounded disappointed. So we waited, and waited, and waited. Finally he brought us a to go dessert (which we had to pay for even at a reduced price). And then we waited for our bill and to pay. Still recommending you go here to eat because the food was really good.
Our first-time experience was disappointing given that Floriana is so highly-rated. The food was acceptable, but seemed to emphasize quantity over quality. The fried calamari was much too greasy. The lasagna and lobster were very good. All the lettuce in the ceasar salad was limp, like cooked spinach. Being in a row house, the dining room is long and narrow, and the tables are very close together. Bottom line: our visit was worth three stars at the most.
Everything from start to finish - exquisite. This is a true gem of a restaurant and should not be missed!
I had a great dinner on Sunday. It was half price wine by the bottle (yeah!) and I had a Caprese salad with house-made cheese and a hearty gnocchi dish. The atmosphere was friendly and I chatted with a lovely couple from Florida. I hope to return!
Charming, historic neighborhood. Friendly staff and varied menu. Lighting is very dim though. Bring a flashlight or your iPhone
Lovely restaurant with delicious unique Italian dinner options. Wonderful evening with my dad!
Amazing food in a great setting!
Food and service were very good, but the space was very claustrophobic and loud. Difficult to relax and have a conversation.
The service was terrific. The drinks were well made and ample. The pesto served with the bread excellent. The mussels were small but tasty. The duck breast was very good. The restaurant is small and u r very close to the table next to you.
Warm welcome and prompt, considerate service throughout dinner. We went on a Friday night, when it was very crowded and very noisy; we’d go again but during the week. Polenta with boar ragu was very good appetizer, as was beet/ goat cheese salad. Lobster in gnocchi dish wss chewy and gnocchi seemed bland. A little more salt and pepper on all dishes would probably be beneficial. All in all, we’d return, especially to try sweet potato gnocchi with duck ragu.
Excellent place for a romantic and quiet dinner after a long hectic week. Service was excellent—attentive without being overbearing. Ambience was inviting and cozy but not crowded. Wine selection was great, the food was excellent.
Bat and crew are great. They make everyone feel special. Great food and great service.
I've not been to Floriana in quite some time, however, my recent visit reminded me of this "gem" on 17th Street. I was pleasantly greeted at the door, offered the table at the window, and most importantly - was catered to (for nearly two hours) by my well-trained waiter, who was keenly knowledgeable of the menu, wines, etc. Fantastic food and service. I will be back!
This place was AWESOME! Everything from the food to the service, the seating and ambiance was stellar. We even received a nice personal note and free dessert for our anniversary. A nice visit from the manager along with a nice short conversation regarding our meals and how they are prepared. Do yourself a favor and eat here; sit outside.
Absolutely fabulous! The good was incredible, presentation beautiful and the service beyond. Tim was a grand server for our evening. The only negative was the table seated next to us with loud voices and rudely using their phone flashlights to read the menu and flash into our eyes...they were not young and certainly should know better! I highly recommend the experience!
Great service. Wonderful food. Loved eating outside.
EXTREMELY disappointed! Remembered this place as being REALLY good - and LOVE THE BAR!!! - but have to say food grossly underwhelming and, for the money, a complete waste. Would rather have gone to Dupont Italian Kitchen - can't imagine food would have been any worse and am sure we'd have spent FAR less! Really great décor and decent service, but all 3 of us very disappointed with quality of food.
It was lovely! Amazing food and service. Scallop and shrimp dish, Bruschetta and duck were awesome.
Excellent food and great service. We sat outside on the patio and the meal was just spectacular. Try the salads, black gnocchi is amazing and the lasagna was a hit. The server was very attentive and accommodating. We will be back soon!
Wonderful food, ambience and service. Perfect place for a Saturday brunch if you like a quieter place around Dupont.
Great good and table service. Bar service in downstairs area was the only weak link in an otherwise impeccable evening meal. Thank you
Wonderful neighborhood gem. Delicious food, great service. Sit outside!
We dined on the patio and we’re seated immediately. The beautiful late summer evening was matched by the service and dinner. Our waiter helped with menu item selection to our great satisfaction.
we ate outside, and while the critters were biting, the staff gave us some of their insect repellent to use. food was quite tasty, service was extremely good, and the cocktails well made. we enjoy Floriana and go there every few months. it never disappoints.
Amazing neighborhood gem. Impeccable and friendly service. Homemade pasta. Wonderful wine list. Great outdoor patio and also a charming interior.
Everything was delicious and fabulous. The restaruant week menu is an excellent value.
We ate outside and it was wonderful. The lasagna was superb and the service was excellent. Will be going back often
Spectacular from start to finish.
