Floriana Ratings and Reviews
We wanted and needed a quiet evening out for dinner. Thursday night before restaurant week proved to be a winner. Tables are close together so if you have a person whom speaks loudly, you will definitely know their conversation. It was relatively quiet. Service was excellent and the wine choices were very reasonable. The harvest butternut squash soup was delicious. For dinner I had scallops, which were well cooked. But the hit of the night was the shrimp/scallop risotto. Dessert menu was limited and we decided not to over indulge. Overall a nice time
Really great restaurant - exceeded my expectations. Came in with a party of seven for my birthday. Our waitress Stephanie was amazing - attentive and knowledgeable. The waitstaff was kind and was always filling up our waters and clearing our table. The food was delicious, better than I expected. The price is between 20-30 per plate, which is not bad for something in DuPont. The hits of the night were the Shrimp and Scallop risotto and the signature Lasagna. The duck was also amazing, although not really a pasta dish. The only complaint is the prices on a bottle of wine are ridiculous. On Wednesdays they have half off bottles, which puts them back into the normal ~$25-$50 range for fine dining. Enjoy your dining experience here!
Floriana is a special Home style restaurant in one of Washington’s best neighborhoods. The food was excellent and the service was even better. We started with appetizers to be shared, beet salad, calamari, mussels and black pasta. Large portions and the bread was warm and so good. It was served with a green pesto and garlic and olive oil dip. We all had pasta for our mains and once again everything was excellent. We finished the meal with a tiramisu and cappuccino and mint tea.
Floriana is one of our favorite restaurants. We have been coming here for years and it is consistently excellent. Our waiter Marco gave us good advice on wine and food selection and was so attentive throughout the evening. He went out of his way to make sure we had a special evening.
Overall a great experience! Staff was great and managed to get me a table after I goofed up my reservation and modified it to a different day by accident. Food was delicious - fresh Italian bread (with pesto!), delicious sweet potato appetizer, my date had the scallop and shrimp risotto and I had the squash and Gorgonzola ravioli. Everything was well seasoned and nicely arranged. Some good Italian varietals I had not sampled before on the wine list - try the dolcetto if you haven't had one before! View from the second floor was nice, and the setting is charming. Two minor notes - noise level was moderate as the room filled up, and be CAREFUL on the staircase. It can be a bit treacherous. Overall, though, 5/5, will dine again!
We came to get lasagna for my daughters birthday. She said it was the best she’s had. All of our food was great! I especially liked the Brussel sprouts.
Michael, our waiter was incredible!! He talked to the chef and got my picky, cold, overtired son some specially made breaded chicken and was fantastic with the kids through out!
Amazing! I was trying to find an authentic Italian place for homemade pastas and this hit the spot! The arancini appetizer was amazing and the caprese used the freshest tomatoes and mozzarella. I got the vegatable risotto (with pesto) and it was incredible! Some of the best risotto. My boyfriend got the tortelloni mignon and loved it. Great date spot with a cozy, romantic atmosphere in an old row house.
Food was outstanding. We were thrilled to get Restaurant Week pricing. All three courses were delicious. The service was excellent. My only complaint was the stairway leaving up to the 2 nd floor entrance did not have a handrail and was a big precarious, especially on a rainy evening.
Food was spectacular.... Had a roast duck that was perfectly done, tender on the inside, crispy edges, perfect seasoning. Wine half price on Sundays, a bonus. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Atmosphere nice and relaxing, although tables a bit too close, hard not to hear other conversations. Strongly recommend.
Our server was delightful and gave us many good tips for food to order. Caesar salad was very good with homemade croutons and flavorful dressing. Caprese salad had fantastic house-made mozzarella but slices of tomato were mushy. Husband adored lamb ragu with potato gnocchi. One friend had the lasagna and declared it wonderful; just like his Mama ( Italian!) used to make. I split shrimp and scallop risotto with my other friend; wonderful flavor to the risotto but scallops were very salty, which was a big disappointment for an otherwise great meal. Definitely recommend the place but one warning-- not accessible for anyone who has trouble navigating stairs as restaurant is located in a 3 floor old home-- lovely and homey setting.
Floriana is one of our favorite restaurants in DC. The ambiance is cozy; the food usually exceptional; the half-priced wines on Wednesdays (and Sundays) a great way to go. This time around, I had to send my food back to the kitchen (main dish) since it was less than hot (it was somewhat rectified). Service was, as usual, outstanding. Brin is simply super. We would like to see "the boss" a little more: he is super knowledgeable but he's been absent the last three occasions...
I found Floriana on Yelp and it lived up to my expectations. I went for a business/friendly meal for two on a weeknight. The restaurant was quiet. The service was attentive but relaxed and unobtrusive. And the food was really great across the board. Delicious appetizers (black gnocchi and mussels, autumn salad, rockfish, zuca ravioli). There is also an upstairs dining room that would be great for more private dinners or groups.
