The fish was outstanding! The trout and the salmon were perfectly cooked . Just not the portions are rather larger and i can eat..but dont order more than one app and The mushroom toast was just ok.
Great place to catch up with friends! Great sized entrees for the price!
We ate in the courtyard. Food and service were excellent.
It’s heavy comfort food
Our waitress was great!
We've been to Flores before and had a great time but something must have happened since: For a place used to be packed and with a great atmosphere we found it only about 1/4 full on a Saturday night at 7:30pm. The service wasn't good either: the waitress had forgotten to put in the order for one of the dishes just before she finished her shift so one of the guests was waiting for their food for most of the meal. They ended-up comping us half the price of the dish but still. With a couple of exceptions the food was ok but not great. Overall we were disappointed and won't be back anytime soon and based on how quiet the place was it seems like we're not the only ones.
Went here when it opened a few years back, it had some wait staff issues and they were running out of specific items after we had ordered them. Figured it was an opening night thing. Came back again a few years later and it was worse than before. The food would be standout in a small town somewhere else, but is really bland when you have so many other options around LA. Wait staff seemed stretched thin. Food is boring. Pass. Go to Tar N Rose's instead.
The food was very good and service was very attentive. I selected this restaurant for a business dinner, but in my opinion it's on the more casual side. We had a small group of 6 and fit nicely on the patio. They have a happy hour with small bites and drinks. Parking can be a problem on Sawtelle. I didn't see any valet out front when I arrived around 6pm (weekday).
The only thing special about the restaurant is that it is near the 405. You can get to it without getting tied up on the Santa Monica. The food and service were okay not worth going back with so many better restaurants to chose from. The outside overhead heaters were too hot. Staff did not know that there is a Public Parking garage a half block from the restaurant. Street parking is scarce.
Food was great, service excellent, the patio is adorable. Perfect date night or dinner with friends place.
The food was outstanding. The tuna poke was unique and quite possibly the best I've ever had!
We ordered Oysters grilled and on the half shell, Pork Ribs with Tamarind sauce, Trout and they were OUT of everything but the trout! We were notified that there were NO ribs well after our order was placed which delayed the timing of our meal. We then ordered the Tri Tip but had to send it back when it was served inheated.
Our visit to this restaurant was an episode of “Kitchen Nightmares” without Gordon Ramsey! They should add their restaurant to Ramsey’s list for a make over on his latest show. The restaurant owner could and should use Ramsey’s HELP!
Went for brunch. Food was mediocre, chilaquiles felt more like nachos with refried beans and scrambled eggs. The service was amateur. Had higher hopes for Flores.
Great meal!!! Menu wasn’t overwhelming but had plenty of options!! The fried corn apps, fried chicken and biscuit sandwich, and cheeseburger are delicious!! My friends and I will be back!
Patio area is lovely! Food is great. I really wish the waitress would have explained how humongous their portions are. I now have enough food for a week in leftovers...
The portions were enormous and we felt bad wasting so much food
Food was uninspired and lackluster. Ambiance was nice and cozy. For the price it wasn’t worth the money. Very trendy place though. We looked very hip while eating the bland food.
I wish this place was better. I've had dinner here and thought the food was pretty good. I now work in the area and have been here 3 times in the last two weeks. Not sure what is happening but the food presentation is horrendous. It is very un-appetizing. It just feels like it's thrown together. I had the stead salad and it was pretty tough and inedible. To stay competitive in this market they better clean up their act.
Service needs serious improvement. Everything took forever and we were hardly checked on throughout the meal.
Food was great but they were incredibly understaffed! Jenny was a great server! ♥️
Pleasant evening at Flores and Son on Sawtelle. The front patio are very intimate and at night they had a gas fed heater adding the ambience. Food is average, but service is friendly and helpful.
Extremely noisy, tables too close together, so-so food.
The noise level was not “energetic” but deafening!
I find it low class to have bread on the menu but to charge money for bread when one is served a $16 salad.
The Tri tip was tender but tasteless.
This past Sunday was my second time eating here. The food is just ok. While the staff is friendly, we had three different waitresses, which made it seem disorganized. My friend is vegetarian so she ordered the two-egg breakfast, which came with bacon. She asked if she could substitute the bacon for avocado but was told "no". Surely bacon is more expensive than avocado - instead of an attempt to make things better, she was told that she can order the breakfast and pay extra for the avocado. Come on!
Other than that, the ladies were very nice and it is a cute spot.
My fourth time here, but the service was a total miss this time. Our waiter pretty much abandoned us, and one entree was 15 minutes behind the rest. Soured otherwise great food.
Really great neighborhood spot serving updated "comfort food". Everything was fresh, service was great and nice, friendly ambiance. Highly recommend.
Great for patio dining. Convenient location on Sawtell.
Ample portion and good quality of food for the price.
Large portions. Food is really good! Reasonably priced.
A delightful place. Cozy, yet modern, with comfortable and stylish inside dining and a lovely garden patio as well. Very friendly and attentive service and a diverse menu of small and large plates with an eclectic, international flavor. All the dishes we ordered with extremely well-prepared and wonderfully flavorful.
My 3 friends and I have a great dinner here. We sat outside on the patio and even though it was a bit chilly they had heaters on and it was a really enjoyable night. The food was all really good. The poke was really big, mixed with creamy avocado and fantastic. Our salad was very tasty with different elements to it as well as a light dressing that didn't drown the greens. The highlight was probably the spinach and gruyere as well as the trout. The ribs weren't bad but slightly on the dryer side. We still enjoyed them but everything else was really really good so I'll try them again next time as it could have been a one off. Anyways. Great place on a cool street.
Everything was terrific ... the food, the service -- the only complaint is that our table was a bit cramped for seating the 3 of us at a table for 4. It may have been better for a party of two. I will definitely ask for a bigger/more spacious table next time.
We had tickets to the Odyssey theater and randomly selected this restaurant and was
very surprised at how wonderful our experience was. The food was fantastic - the
caprese salad and avocado tower appetizer were 2 of the best dishes I have had. Really
Our lamb shank was tender and flavorful and the trout was also very good. We will definitely come back again - even without theater tickets!
After multiple visits, this Valentine’s Day dinner was a huge disappointment. A busy restaurant should not mean poor service. After being seated for several minutes, we had to ask the host to get our waiter and asked for water. We then placed our order and asked the server for water. Our appetizers were delivered and We then asked another server for water twice. We then asked another server for water and finally received some. We ordered roasted sea bass and a side of asparagus. To our surprise, the sea bass was served with asparagus in addition to the side of asparagus. In addition the sea bass was fried not roasted.
To their credit, the server removed 3 dishes that we were dissatisfied with.
But it was a disappointing experience - especially for a special Valentine’s Day.
Good food, pretty ambiance
Their poke is not just your average basic poke that all restaurants have, but actually really good (and big!). The other sides we ordered were also really good—the mushroom toast! The king salmon was the best main course we ordered and perfectly cooked.
The only turn off was there metal tables tops because when eating on them it smell like pure metal rust. Not so pleasant to smell.
Good food and portions are huge. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The Corn on the cob is really good, not your typical corn on the cob and try it for sure!
The food was tasty, but the dishes came out at odd times. Very disorganized kitchen
Wanted to love this place but the food is just meh. Lovely patio on very busy Sawtelle... we literally parked four blocks away. Wish they’d work out a deal with neighboring valet. Anyway, burratta salad drenched in way too much balsamic vinaigrette, trout that was good but came out lukewarm and mushroom toast that was pretty good... but that also came out lukewarm and under salted. The potato rolls were incredible though and my daughter liked her spaghetti and meatballs. I’d try it again.
