In 1996, flora opened in Arlington, Massachusetts in the renovated Arlington Five Cent Savings Bank building. Its dramatic barrel-vaulted ceiling and two story windows presented the perfect location. Simple but sophisticated fare in an elegant atmosphere provides flora patrons with the best experience in the area.
Notable entres at flora include a roasted Giannone half chicken with a lemon-rosemary pan sauce, lamb fricassee, porcini spaetzle and white miso-honey glazed salmon. The meal is complete with the house specialty, cinnamon almond croissant bread pudding served with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. For a lighter dessert option, there is house made blackberry sorbet.
It was their last night so they seemed to be out of everything
We had to ask for Bread and they brought us some crumbly old muffins
the waiter was openly hostile and the food was nothing special
Second last day; great to have one last meal at a great restaurant. It was also Bastille Day!
I'm very sorry to see this wonderful restaurant close. but thanks for the great 20-year run.
I hear its closing which is sad. It is a wonderful space, the food is really incredible, and the staff are really quite nice. Do yourself a favor and go before they are gone.
So sorry Flora is closing!! I recently discovered it and have only been twice; both were exceptional meals with excellent servers!
The scallop special was excellent! We are sad that they are closing in mid July, we will miss them!
Flora has always been a very special place for us. Sadly, they are selling the restaurant and closing on July 15, 2016. I anticipate excellence from the new owners, but this very special restaurant will be missed.
As always we had a perfect evening at flora. Food, service, ambiance excellent. I had a salad of sugar snap peas, strawberries, bitter greens, pistachio studded goat cheese, followed by a perfect pork loin with a fruited sauce, grilled asparagus and sweet potatoes. Bob and Mary Jo Sargent really know how to please every palate in grand style. So happy to have such an extraordinary restaurant in our neighborhood. Bon Appetit!
We will miss Flora's owners -who are retiring-as this was a top notch restaurant. Friendly, refined cuisine, quiet enough yet still alive. We look forward to the next owners who apparently were carefully chosen by the current ones.
We will miss Flora immensely! this is a great restaurant with a wonderful history of 20 years, and we look forward to seeing a new restaurant blossom in its place. But for now, we salute the many years of great hospitality, food and memories of family celebrations -- all in an artful atmosphere delivered by Mary Jo and Bob Sargent. We wish them all the best.
