Outstanding. So sorry to hear that you are closing :(
Service was excellent
Celebrated our Wedding Anniversary and they made us feel special through out the evening.
Our table was near the bar and was sometimes a bit noisy but it didn’t take away from our everything else we enjoyed about the restaurant.
I am very sad to see Flora go. It was an institution of the best kind. Best of luck, Tom!!
My first dining experience here was Everything I look for in a restaurant: ambience, great service, great food and easy to get to. I love art deco style restaurants so terribly sad to see this gem go. I so wished I had gotten here sooner. Somehow it just fell off my radar. I LOVE a good burger and this was one of the best. We started with the Aaron Cheeni and the cheese platter. Both a little small for four but definitely adequate. The other three ordered the pork loin and of course I ordered the burger. We ordered the last bottle of Textbook Cabernet and it was terrific. Our waitress was charming, personable, beautiful and a great server too! So glad we got in here finally, but wish The restaurant had more time.
So heartbroken that this Oakland cornerstone is closing.
The food here is consistently very good and interesting. The service is efficient and friendly. Like many fans, I'm very disappointed that they will be closing on November 10 but am hopeful that the new owner will carry forward the style, quality and uniqueness of this gem.
Enjoyed one last meal before one of our favorite downtown oakland restaurants closes in early November. Great food, creative cocktails and excellent service always.
Flora will be must missed, a groundbreaking restaurant in Uptown that has changed the face of Oakland dining.
Fantastic. Sad to see them go.
Best cheeseburger since fabulous Australian beef cheese burger in Hanoi!! Flora isn't a hamburger joint, and neither is the Metropol Hotel. But both have put a lot of effort into making a divine concoction that so many hamburger specialty places get wrong. Flora gets extra points because of the delicious fries and blue cheese dressed salad. And my companion ate every bite of the calamari clam fisherman's stew. We enjoyed the special raspberry infused brandy margaritas. Service was superb even though the restaurant was full to the max. Cheers
The atmosphere and waiter were top notch, but the food was mediocre.
Always have a fab meal at Flora and this time did not disappoint. The seasonal offerings, great wine list and truly outstanding wait staff- who truly function as a team - was their wonderful selves. Another great evening at Flora!
We returned here to celebrate our anniversary. There was a Happy Anniversary greeting printed on our menu! Also, they brought us a celebratory dessert with a candle!
Flora is vegan friendly using impossible “meat” in the ragú. It was tasty but on the small side.
I was disappointed that they had run out of the trout dish I wanted.
Overall Flora is trendy, with good cocktails and well executed food. The space is stylish and pleasant. We’re happy to have this in Oakland.
Note: Parking on Saturday nights is difficult so consider an Uber.
The service and food were outstanding
The heirloom tomato salad was outstanding: simple and fresh. All our main dishes were tasty, too. And of course, the cocktails: Carter Beats the Devil, always wonderful.
One of our favorite Oakland restaurants. Great location for pre dinner and drinks before a show at the Fox Theater. Would highly recommend! Thank you FLora!
Perfect date night before the Fox. Outstanding cocktails and yummy food!
The food was phenomenal and the cocktails were spectacular. Top notch. It's an excellent restaurant (and really close to the 19th bart station in Oakland). Flora has romantic lighting (maybe a little bit too dimly lit for me) and is rather loud and lively... but overall a fun atmosphere.
Disappointed...the entire meal was too rushed. Shared apps served with the salads?....dinner served before salads were finished....2nd drink was hard to order really slow to deliver. Anyway won't be returning.
I was very pleased that they accommodated us by squeezing us in at 7:00 so we could catch our show. I let them know we had an hour to eat our meal and they were prompt but did not push. Food was good. could use a bigger beer selection but I enjoyed the meal and would definitely go back.
I would give a higher rating if the portion sizes were larger and the menu not as limited . The small slice of salmon, although tasty, was not enough. The accompaniments were nice, but didn't make up for the miserly slice of protein. Cocktails were fantastic and waitstaff super.
I would recommend for drinks. The seating staff was not very friendly and was put off that we wanted to be seated by some friends. As well the food was just okay. I had not been to Flora in a couple of years and the experience was not the same as it was back then. I hope it is not a sign that business is not doing well as I would hate for it to leave Oakland. Maybe find staff who wants to work - we would like to visit more often at least for the cocktails which were still very nice.
One of our favorites in Midtown Oakland. Flawless preparation and presentation of seasonally balanced cuisine. Our server was spot-on and we can't wait to go back.
We've been going to Flora for years, but not recently. Went after hiatus on September 26th and was very surprised. The Service was slow and unreliable, disappearing when needed. The menu had very few choices. Drinks were slow arriving. We ordered roasted garbanzo beans and they were awful, the worst we'd ever had. My wife and I had the ravioli: highpriced and we each had six, a remarkably small portion. Our guest had goat cheese and bread sticks, which looked like airplane food and was tasteless. The place was half empty and I can see why.
The portions are outrageously small and very expensive, even more than the normal trend. We spent almost $200 for a four-top and left hungry. The service was ok, but the restaurant was so loud the server couldn’t hear well, and the bar was backed up so our drinks came out after the meal. We had a table that was too large for 4 people and we huddled around one side so as to get out of the footpath. 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve had good experiences in the past but will probably not return.
Excellent food and service. The only challenge was the heat (it was a hot day and there was no cool air blowing through the restaurant). But the food was so terrific, and the service superb, I will be back.
Great food, friendly service.
very noisy, pasta was great, salad was soggy, service was fair
Lovely innovative restaurant that offers a satisfying dining experience to young and not so young alike. Food is fresh and local, and menu options change frequently and seasonally. Dinning room is airy in daylight and atmospheric in candle light. This restaurant can serve for many different kinds of meals -- family, date night, business, pre-entertainment. It also has a lovely big bar, great cocktails, and fun bar snacks. Finally the caramel pudding dessert is delicious.
It was 90 degrees in Oakland and they do not have air conditioning so it was a bit uncomfortable. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and attentive.
We were in the area to see King Crimson at the Fox across the street. We are so glad we went to Flora! We chose their french bread/parmesan appetizer and it was off the charts! I had the pork chop, which was delicious, and a good-sized portion. The mushroom/pasta dish my partner had was also very flavorful and cooked to perfection. We split a chocolate cake-y dessert and it was pretty good but not great. The pressed coffee was excellent. Our server was friendly, good-humored, and provided just the right amount of attention. Next time we're up that way, we will surely be back!
We were so pleased with our experience at Flora and wondered why we had been there before! The food was excellent, the service faultless, and the atmosphere casually classy. We will return!
Terrible. Food was not great and the portions were very small. The food was over priced
And I asked for a Diet Coke and got a day deferent kind of soda
I don’t think I will go back
Great cocktails, great food
Sea bass slightly over cooked, otherwise excellent
I love Flora and this excursion was no different. The drinks were superb and the service was lovely.
The food was tasty and service was pleasant but slow... busy waitstaff led to really long gaps between courses. Interior noise also made conversations strained.
