Food ... amazing! Cocktails ... fantastic! Loved the ambiance, decor and service. Dessert was fantastic. Note - it would be a total game changer if they added valet. I WOULD PAY FOR IT, AS WOULD MANY! They should just acknowledge where they are and agree it’s a necessity.
Outside of that, take an Uber and prepare to enjoy!
The host and server were so attentive, knowledgeable and friendly! They made our anniversary dinner extra special. This is my new go to special occasion restaurant!
Nice ambiance. Cool artwork. Gracious staff. Exquisite flavor pairings.
A charming restaurant for weekend brunch if you like trendy food. The menu selection is quite limited. My waffles were overcooked. The bacon, syrup and beignets were very good. Noise level was quite moderate; normal conversation was possible. Local parking turned out to be quite good in spite of Telegraph Avenue being partly closed for a bicycle race.
A little pricey for quantity but really tasty and fresh. Lemon cheesecake was delicious as were the cocktails. Had the halibut and it was great. Service was a little slow at first but got better as more people arrived.
As always, I enjoyed my brunch at Flora. Our service was outstanding and the cocktails were amazing!
Will be returning soon.
I don't see how the place stays open. The food is average at best, it's overpriced and the people who work there act as though they're doing you a big favor by serving you. A definite thumbs down!!!
Great food, great drinks - a fun place to dine! The menu has creative takes on their offerings - great mixes of flavors and textures!!
I enjoyed having a delicious brunch with friends on my birthday. I'm looking forward to coming back to Flora for dinner.
Great service and good food. Best Irish coffee!
Flora remains a favorite of ours for its simple art deco elegance, great cocktails and generally solid menu. Our last visit, however, wasn't quite up to par. Seated promptly, but service was a little slow after that. Ordered cocktails but it was a while before they brought water glasses for the bottle sitting on the table. Cocktail a tad too sweet, but they were amenable to the feedback and remade it. Kudos! Burger remains stellar. Salads, however, a bit over dressed, and much of the food was a tad over-salted. We had to check on a side dish that lagged behind the rest. But they were super prompt when I asked to add on fries to my steak order after it had arrived (my wife didn't like me picking at her fries :-)
I think Flora could do more with its lighting and big walls. Generally, we still like Flora. But on this night, the passion for the craft of creating and serving an excellent meal was not up to the bar they set for themselves.
That said, we will definitely be back!
We were treated like royalty for our 20th anniversary!
Drinks were creative and arrived promptly. Main courses of trout and duck both cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go back
Really great food and atmosphere. We stopped at their bar next door and had a great happy hour margarita. Then on to a quick dinner and we had burgers. Sounds simple but really delicious. Great service and just super friendly from start to finish. On top of it I left my credit card and they called and were not annoyed. And held onto it for me so I didn’t have to reset my whole life. Will be back soon for sure.
What a disappointment. Pasta out of a box for $22. Sea bass..whatever that means...for $32 dollars and the piece of fish was 2-3oz at best. Good service and cocktils. On the whole the ingredients are below standard for the price. I won’t be back.
Every dish we had was delicious and perfectly prepared, and the service and attentiveness was top-notch. Looking forward to returning to try other dishes, but it will be hard to forego the risotto hors-d'oeuvre, trout entree, and cheeseburger we ordered on this visit.
All great. A little noisy. Only complaint...sorbet was tasteless...had specifically asked waitress if it had flavor. I should have sent it back
Extremely noisy and it was just a Tuesday night. Can't imagine a Friday or Saturday
Stopped in to Flora before the Neil Schon concert at the Fox. Very charming decor, white table cloth tables, etc. the whole staff was top notch! It was a well oiled machine watching all the staff work together effortlessly. They didn’t miss a beat. Our waitress was wonderful! We never had to ask for anything, everything just flowed so well. The glasses of wine my wife and I selected were wonderful! The appetizer break and cheese is to die for! I had the trout, which was cooked to perfection and was very
Fresh and tasty! My wife asked for the hamburger to be well done, which took a little longer time, which the waitress apologized for. We told her we were in no rush, we were going to the show after dinner and the staff never gave us the feeling of rushing us out the door to seat another party. We were there for 2 hours of drinking and eating and it felt like 45 minutes! Just an outstanding place for dinner!! Truly set the mood for a wonderful night!!!
Innovative and delicious food, excellent service.
The customer service was great from the host to the servers. Drinks were excellent.
Very limited menu. Noisy. Food OK not great. Nice servers
Ambience was nice, food was average.
We would not recommend this place.
The Caesar salad came with a dark hair stuck to the boiled half-egg. We called the server's attention to this and he appropriately offered to bring a new one. The new one came with what appeared to be the same hair stuck to the same egg. We can't be sure, but it seemed like the kitchen served us the same plate rather than making a new one! I suppose it's possible that whoever made the new plate could have had another hair drop in the same place? When we got the the server's attention again, this time he suggested that maybe it was my hair! Ummm ... nope! There wasn't much of an apology. In a well-run place I think the customer would not have been blamed and the manager would have personally apologized. But not at Flora, where they assume that diners are putting hair in their own food! We were not charged for the salad, fortunately, but overall the experience was awful.
Enjoyed my lunch with my friend. Everything was good. We cleaned our plates.
Twas alright af
Our merry band of friends came together to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday, as well as their birthdays too. The fine wine and cocktails were flowing and the food was delicious. We all shared a bunch of appetizers, soup, steaks and pork chops. It was a great evening.
We had 6:15pm reservations. As soon as we I arrived, I was disappointed. The male receptionist, who showed us to our seat was rude and dismissive. He sat us at an undesirable table. I ask if we could seat in a booth seat. He replied, “no you may not.” The entire time we were dining, no one sat at the requested table. The food choices were limited to a set menu and the food was so so. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, but the experience as a whole fell short.
The wait personnel were fantastic and had great recommendations. The caramel pudding was outstanding. I’ve been there many times and had not tried it previously. A wonderful night all around.
Overall ambiance was spectacular. The food was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. My only comment is that the portion sizes were quite small for entrees. We came for brunch and ordered the trout hash (which was super tasty) but the bowl had maybe half of a single potato and maybe 2 tablespoons of trout. Luckily we got a few starter items as well and left feeling pretty satisfied. Looking forward to trying Flora again, but for dinner next time.
The food was to an excellent standard, and I will be returning. Only meal criticism was that the appetizers were maybe a little too 'dressed-up'. From what we had, it would have been better is the starters leaned more heavily on their quality main ingredients, rather than their unnecessary accompaniments that didn't offer much more to the dish than allowing for a more extravagant menu description. However the mains were fantastic.
The service was a little slow, both for meals and drinks, but they were still very friendly and informative - plus it was a busy Saturday night, so maybe I'm being unfair.
A nice spot for date night or just a late night drink.
A good choice for dinner if you are attending events at either the Fox or Paramount theaters. The chopped chicory salad was excellent. The main second course was good (dish with clams), but not exceptional. Next time I would order the duck. The chocolate pudding desert was fabulous.
We have eaten at Flora several times and enjoyed the food but have never felt it really outstanding. Four of us for dinner all ordering different entres. Mine was the duck and it was really outstanding. My wife ordered one of the pasta dishes which came with barely enough sauce to wet the pasta - she didn't finish the dish. One of our guest's dinner was the clams and pasta also barely enough sauce and while good he advised that he would need another glass of wine to wet his throat. Very noisy environment so conversations were difficult. If you want to dine in this part of Oakland because your attending events in the area it is a good place to dine but I wouldn't rate it at the top for dining places
One main dish arrived barely warm. the other two mains were the pricest item on the menu, steak. It was 5 small pieces (supposed to be medium rare) that were all different cook temps. One chunk was well, one slice was medium well, one was medium. If you wanna pay $34 for 5 pieces of poorly cooked steak this is your spot
Flora is wonderful. Each dish is on point. The portions are appropriate and the ingredients are high quality. The service was seamless. We enjoyed everything about the experience.
I've heard so much about Flora and was excited to go but was underwhelmed. There were lots of sad pieces of lettuce in my salad and the micro greens on my main were wilted too. And it was just not as delicious as I thought it would be. It's a nice place, probably great for a drink at the bar and maybe a burger but it most left me feeling underwhelmed.
Diner and service is always amazing !!!!!
Flora definitely has its strengths! The Deco interior is timeless. Among the cocktails, the Sophia Loren is true to its namesake and worthy of an ogle. In my mind, an oyster menu would be the pitch perfect follow on to Sophia’s lusciousness, but alas, that is not to be found here.
Of the food offered, arancini was surprisingly briny, but otherwise, a standout. I found the ribeye, done rare and sliced lengthwise, to be flavorful, but the plating and presentation inspired distress: the disheveled heap of red pulp did an injustice to the taste sensation of the dish.
The service at Flora was excellent. We were in a hurry and received fast and attentive service. The food choices were interesting and when arrived very delicious!
