Located in a renovated warehouse, Floataway Café transformed the space into a contemporary dining experience. Chefs/Owners Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison have created a local organic, produce-driven menu with daily menu changes that reflect seasonal influences. Pale blues are offset by creamy wood panels and natural lighting, while a courtyard area is transformed into a romantic outdoor café with the night sky forming a starry canopy.

Most of the food was very good. We got one pasta dish where the pasta was well over cooked so my Italian husband was not happy. He likes al dente, as it should be, always. The seating is terribly uncomfortable, so you want to eat and get outta there; cold metal chairs opposite low cushioned benches with 90 degree backs, no support or comfort. It is always cold in winter.

I chose Floataway Cafe since my husband had never been there and thought he would enjoy it since they are part of Star Provisions. The occasion was my husbands birthday. I was called the day before our reservation to confirm we were coming on the date and time of our reservation. The woman I spoke with said she would make a note for our Server that it is my husbands birthday and they would bring him dessert. When we arrived, the place was not very busy. Our Waiter came and took our drink order and it took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We both ordered the fish which was delicious, however my husband was pulling out bones after every bite he took of his meal. We had finished our drinks for awhile before the waiter returned to ask if we wanted another round of drinks. When the meal was over, the Waiter was not given the message about bringing the Birthday dessert and we were so ready to go find better service at another place we didn't bother to tell the waiter that he was supposed to have offered the Birthday dessert. It was a disappointing meal.

This was our second time at Floataway, though it's been about 3 years since our first trip. We found the first meal magical - loved every bite. It may have been the latest menu or just an off night, but our recent experience just wasn't the same. The salad was under-dressed and unremarkable, the duck bolognese overly salty and the service a bit slow, especially as the evening progressed. The ambiance was great, my husband liked the steak and the wine was fantastic, but with so many good options in town, it may be a while before we venture back.

Floataway has always been very consistent and good over the years but with kitchen changes recently, the execution was good but not as good as it was before. Some short cuts on dishes were noticeable. But still one of the better options in this town.

Our waitress was very nice, but the food took about 50 minutes to an hour to get to our table after we ordered. The food is way overpriced. It was tasty, but nothing special for the price you paid for it, not to mention that the portion was VERY small for the $25 paid. We will probably not be returning.

Floataway has the best roast chicken of any restaurant in the city. Another diner thoroughly enjoyed the hangar steak and the third diner feasted on the loup de mer.

We have been to FC for New Year's Eve several years in a row and this year was disappointing. Our crab fritter was cold in the middle, our server was sweet, but seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced. (Our wine was not opened up at the table which was strange.) The steak was seasoned perfectly, but the whole fish was lacking in flavor. We will be back, but to note, it feels like the restaurant has taken a couple steps back in quality.

A little less excellent than usual. Hanger steak came to the table cold, so we had to send it back. Service was good but a little inattentive, with gaps. No doubt thrown off by having to send the steak back. Otherwise very enjoyable.

Will keep this short...overall, food was good, but DO NOT order the butternut squash agnolotti. You will get 5 small ravioli (think thumb from the upper knuckle, if that) that aren't even enough for a tiny appetizer, much less an entree...we were literally shocked at how little was served for that dish and thought of ordering more food for the two folks at our table who ordered that dish. Otherwise, service was not all that attentive, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. And one of the busers put the *enormous* to-go bag (for one piece of pizza) right in the middle of the table, right in the middle of our conversation. Food was good, not great.

One of the best kept secrets of the ATL! I've had the pleasure of dining at Float Away twice this month and both visits were great. The apps, the wine list, the bread (OMG the bread!) and the entrees were fantastic. I find the interior very comfortable and the acoustics are so that it is one of the few restaurants that you can actually hear what the others in your party are saying. I've heard other people talk about the service being hit or miss. I would encourage everyone to give it another try as the food is really something special. I will most definitely be back.

This was my favorite restaurant in atlanta for years. several years ago i went back after they renovated and was seated at the kitchen door. i decided to give it another's try for my birthday. i made reservations weeks ahead. went in and was seated against the windows on a night when it was 27 outside. my date and i had to wear coats and overcoat on legs. ordered fish and it was tasteless on both dishes. i ordered desert and latte and desert was excellent but to remind waiter about latte. o well.

Have frequented many times since opening more than 20 years ago. This was most disappointing visit. We were late for our 9pm reservation; but kitchen was still very much open and place almost empty. All we ordered was a salad for two and pizza; we were not there to drink (hence not a hight ticket meal). Asked for salad to be chopped fine and it wasn't (how hard is it to take a big knife to a big bowl of salad) and the pizza took almost an hour to deliver to the table (are you kidding me; did they send out for it?). I know each one is made from scratch but in spite of all apologies from waitstaff, this was ridiculous. I was looking for dinner, not a midnight snack. We shall go again, but be more unforgiving next time

This restaurant is very difficult to locate and, once there, I had the feeling that I was entering a mafia hideout. With one exception, the atmosphere is cold: the building structure, the decor, the floors, the metal chairs. Only the lime green booths give any impression of warmth. Indeed, the place is physically cold and there are heaters placed high through the rooms. It was surprising that, the evening my friend and I were there, the restaurant had very few diners, although there were some noisy customers at the bar. I had the sense of emptiness. As for service, it was cool and minimal. The food was the star attraction. Both my friend and I began with green salads (enormous). Then, we had pasta with shrimp, wood-roasted octopus, and a crab cake. I had a glass of chardonnay from a list of house wines that I considered a little short. That reminds me to comment on the menu itself. There is a wide range of starters and there are pizzas, pastas, and even enough individual vegetable dishes for a vegetarian dinner; but, there are only about six entrees: a whole fish, a lobster, a chicken breast, and several other items. As you can see, my friend had a pasta dish and I had two starters. In conclusion, I really enjoyed the food, but I did not like the environment. How about a friendlier ambience, ladies and gentlemen?

This was our second visit and it was as great as the first. Love the ambiance and mood. Nice to go to an adult restaurant where the patrons are all well dressed and while clearly enjoying their meal and having a good time, there is no screaming and shouting. Love the separate rooms where you could have some privacy if desired. Bar area is fantastic. The cab cake was amazing, hard to figure out how so much crab meat was held together in such large chunks. Gnocchi melted in your mouth. The sauce on shrimp and maccheroni was so good I could have eaten a bowl of it. The apple tart was sinfully good. It is very clear how much care is given to meal preparation. Loved the drinks as well. I make a Brooklyn or Start Spreading the News at home and was impressed that they not only had one on their cocktail list but that it was fantastic. Will definitely return

We had not been to Floataway for several years, having moved away, so were pleasantly surprised that the food was just as creative and delicious as we remembered. Even better, the remodel separating the bar from the main dining room was a big plus. however, we did enjoy moving to the bar/cocktail room for our after dinner dessert and drink. Nice modern ambiance overall.

We have visited Floataway many times in the past and have always been met with attentive service and wonderful dishes. Unfortunately things have changed. We were seated in the bar/lounge area and was greeted and given drinks by the manager saying our server would be right out. It took her at least 10 minutes to visit our table after we were given the drinks and we had to constantly flag her down to take our order, clear our plates and even to bring the check. Another server brought our dinner to our table and my husband was completely finished by the time our server even visited our table to check on how it tasted. It was so frustrating that I don't think we will be back.

I have been meaning to visit your restaurant for at least the past 3 years. Glad we finally got a chance to visit. At first I couldn't quite figure out the decor and seeing the servers in sneakers also threw me. However, I was sold once we began interacting with our server. He was friendly and paid attention to us throughout the evening. My wife thought her ragout dish was delicious and I was incredulous as to how tender and moist my hanger steak was. Lastly, the bill came to a very reasonable amount. Overall, great date night. Only minus was the walking trail in back seemed so inviting until we saw the SNAKE signs! :). Thanks for a great evening. Will be back soon.

Faded glory. When we first moved to Atlanta 6 year ago, Floataway was a happening place. Hadn't gone back in a while and went for a casual Friday night dinner. I was surprised to see I could get a table at prime time with 24 hours notice for a Friday night, in retrospect the reason for such is evident... Decor and ambiance is fine. Elegant casual. It goes downhill from there. Asked for a Negroni, paid $14 for a bunch of ice and a bit of a cocktail. Bad start. Appetizers were adequate (fried seafood and beet salad) but unremarkable. A bit greasy but forgivable. My wife had lobster dish. We were not told it was a "cold dish". It was ridiculously anointed with a few minuscule cold potato fingerlings and olives! I had branzino. It was smallish and covered with overwhelming sauteed herbed red peppers. Forked the bell peppers aside, fish was correctly prepared. Had some uninspired gelatos at the end. Shared a bottle of white wine which was not sufficiently chilled and plunked on table without an ice bucket. Waiter seemed overwhelmed by processing of uncorking and wanted to remove my plate while I was still amidst eating. Total Gong Show. To be avoided unless there's a substantial turnaround in a shop worn formula...

Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. The drinks were flat and a main course was cold -- including the corn on the cob (but not listed as a "cold" dish on the menu or under "salads"). I've eaten here before and know the food can be superb or dismal. We were there on a night when the food was the latter.

A great restaurant with a variety of foods done with great presentation. This was for our anniversary and the dinner was a hit. The okra was fantastic! My only gripe was one of my personal tastes. Every thing I liked seemed to be paired with some thing I didn't care for. I'm not a fan of succotash, squash or eggplant. If you order anything, get the Piccolo Fritto! It was absolutely amazing!

The shrimp pasta dish I ordered contained WAY too much garlic. It was not a good dish. The pizza was not notable either, I expected a much better pizza from Floataway since they state it is a favorite. There were five of us and two enjoyed their meals. The salads and octopus were good. I'll definitely give this another try because the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy and the bar area is very intimate.

We were so excited about our dinner reservation at Floataway Cafe but from the moment we arrived until we walked out at the end of our meal, things were problematic. The air conditioning was broken, but we tried to set that aside in the hot August weather. They were out of the oysters we wanted but the waiter said the others tasted similar so we ordered them. They were not similar and we left 2 untouched. Our appetizers arrived while we were still trying to choke down the oysters. Were they in a huge rush to turn the table? Felt that way. Our drinks were delivered long after we ordered them-way long after. To the point we just sat with our food in front of us waiting for our drinks to be delivered. We ordered a bottle of wine but turns out they were out of it. Why did it take 10 minutes to figure that out? Our dinner entrees arrived very quickly after our appetizer plates were cleared. We still had no wine and didn't even know they were out of the bottle we ordered. It took so long that by the time they told us, we no longer wanted a bottle of wine so we ordered glasses. The sommelier was helping us at this point and comped our glasses of wine as a nice token of acknowledgment that things were not going well. The entrees were delicious but the experience overall was so disappointing, we won't be back. Too bad. We had high hopes.

We arrived at the restaurant and noticed it was warm inside on a hot August day. We were told the A/C was broken. I was shocked to find comments from over a week ago with the same issue. Surely they could get it fixed! I loved the crab fritter and dessert, peach croustade. My entree, trout was lackluster.
