Not somewhere to go for a relaxed, quiet dinner. The noisy front is a bar area and the restaurant is very tightly packed. Tables for 2 were so small, best not order too much,or or it won't fit. Food was good but overpriced for what it was. The one true disappointment was the Truffle parm fries that were $12 and arrived slightly soggy, small pieces that were hard to pick up.
great food, staff is very helpful how what to eat and how much to order. good daily specials and wine list.
Went with 6 people in Friday night for my son's birthday. We were seated on time and served promptly. The waiter was attentive and suggested a very good reasonably priced wine. They brought out a donut with a candle which was nice. Overall quality of food was high. Mussels are so good. The atmosphere is very inviting.
We made the reservation (for 4 then changed to 3) a day before, but they sat us at a two people seating adding an extra chair on the side and right next to the kitchen entrance with the traffic in and out kitchen. We asked the hostess to switch to a regular 3-4 people seating and not next to the kitchen, the hostess/ manager gave us a hard time saying the restaurant is busy, and we can all fit there. We had to argue for a good 20 minutes before they finally agreed to switch for us. The food has always been great there, but this was not the first time we had problems w the horrible attitude and service from the hostess..
Usually love this place but the mussels weren't as good this time...small and kind of dry. Would still go back though as one of my favorites.
Much improved. Least time I ate here the mussels were over cooked and one third of the shells were empty. This time they were just right.
We went for the Happy Hour when oysters are $12 a dozen and stayed for dinner. The oysters were great; the mussels were perfect and the service was exceptional. It really is hard to beat at the modest prices.
We had a 745 res and showed up at 8:03 and they told us they canceled our res and we should have called. They never called us and the hostess was very rude about it. They did seat us a few minutes later but it was a bit of a strange experience.
Great food and attentive staff.
Met with our daughter and friends while visiting the city.
Wish the waiter was more professional, other then that great!
Fantastic experience. Food was phenomenal and the service was great.
An early dinner offers the opportunity for a happy hour drink at the bar for half price and the noise level in the dining areas are not yet intolerable. Good food with nice service
The best! The staff (including our lovely owner (and lawyer) Miss Shapiro;) were simply fabulous and we were treated like family! The food was spectacular, the drinks were phenomenal and the overall charm of the restaurant was spot on! Try and keep us away....Hutch and Hammer we will be back no matter what!! 💕
I went there with my cousin and her husband who are visiting NYC, we all oredered mussels and they were great. we tried the dijon, thai and the fra diavolo loved all 3 of them. when it comes to the appetizers the crab guacamole are the best no doubt!
Little bit crowded, but very cozy place.
Excellent mussels with multiple variations of meals. Recommend you take this to Philadelphia and the Jersey shore.
I did have about a 20 minute wait despite reservation but they were very apologetic and kept us updated on our table.
I have dined at this Flex Mussels over 5 times and not once have I been disappointed. The quality of the food is superb! And the service has always been excellent. I usually go here in a big group and this time, we had a baby with us. We were given a big table and high chair which was perfect! The white wine that was recommended with the mussels we ordered was divine. Will definitely keep coming back!
Never disappoints-always good food and service -MUST book in advance for weekends
Flex on 13th is always good and now 82nd just as good. Excellent service and outstanding food. Great drinks- have the Orange and something.
Wow!! The best meal we had in NYC!!
Always fabulous! Delicious mussels in so many preparations. Never ordered one I didn't like. And the signature dessert donuts are a must. Nice wine list too.
We went here because it was close to an event. The place is good. Service is attentive, the hostess seems under pressure about seating and they are a little uptight about their host station. You absolutely cannot have your table until your other party arrives, so they show you the bar and you are stuck there. The food; The Guacamole is so-so, the mussels are good and the Truffle Fries are Great! I would come back if I was in the area but would not make a special trip from the west side.
The front desk experience is horrific there’s always a line where there’s many many tables open we always go early it’s just doesn’t work for us anymore
Great Sunday brunch after attending Metropolitan Art Museum! Delicious, fresh and imaginative cuisine.
The brunch wasn’t that great as compared to other places I have been. They should stick to what they are amazing at which is mussels.
Going here about 10 years; experience gets worse and $ go up every time. This may be the last. Terrible all around. Our 3-4 waiters kept rushing us through courses, to where we basically gave up and had them clear the mains early. My Caccio Pepe had 14 mussels in it, total. Tons of little pieces of shells though. Ended up swallowing a piece on accident and got sick on the way home probably as a result. Go elsewhere,
My martini drink was skimpy. The glass was half full. The food as always was very good.
New favorite spot in UES!
Another great meal!
Fun. Delicious. Great service. So glad I live nearby!
Mussels and drinks were great! We also got the crab quac and I would definitely recommend!
Love this neighborhood jewel! Best mussels in NYC! Service is great and staff the best! They aim to please!
Probably my most favorite restaurant in NYC! I gave 5 stars to everything . Flex mussels is consistently outstanding. And they improved the non-mussel choices for those ( god forbid!!) who don’t order the mussels. Can’t wait to go back!
The hostess was rude, wouldn’t recommend. Food was good and our waiter was great. The attitude of the hostesses was deplorable and obnoxious.
great food wonderful servers only complaint was table for 2's are a little small for the amount of stuff that goes on the table for the meal ex: mussel pots, bread basket, water bottles, and all the glassware and other silverware. LOVE THE FOOD!!!!!
Friendly and efficient service. Noisy and bustling in a Friday night. The bar/waiting area feels more chaotic than welcoming, but the food was delicious, as always.
Best mussels in NYC. Fresh and shipped in directly from Canada. Excellent variety of broths. Nice complementary wine list. Have been at this location numerous times and always look forward to going back. Quieter than the 13th Street location, although still pretty tight spacing.
