Flex Mussels - 82nd Street

Nice ambiance for brunch but it was so loud in the back - though not too crowded. Food was good, mussels and doughnuts the stand outs. Service was attentive but they forgot a side dish.

We come here every year when we visit NYC in December. When you specialize in mussels, you need to stand out and these guys do! We have the Bangkok and Thai mussels almost every time. Superb!

Our waiter was just wonderful. Really helped create a fun evening. I'm sorry I don't remember his name.But thank you for a great night...good food and the donuts for dessert were AMAZING!!!!

Great ambiance, wonderful service, amazing food! The donut sampler is a must and the mussels and oysters were quite tasty. I can not wait to return.

The volume of fries should be more generous since they only just for half a pot of mussels! The specialty drinks are well done as well.

I was frustrated that you can only get the happy hour special at the bar when we booked our table to be within happy hour. This was not explained.

It’s a perfect restaurant from start to finish. Especially if you like mussels, fried oysters, truffle fries, and fresh made donuts. Come hungry.

Terrific mussel pots. Nice wine suggestion by server. It paired well with the seafood. Oysters were fresh and tasty. The ‘Bisque’ mussel pot had nice chunks of tender lobster in the pot. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of lobster added to the recipe. I’d be happy to visit again.

Flex is consistently great. The servers are knowledgable and the staff is excellent. The food is aalways top notch

The various varieties of sauces to go with the mussels were excellent. The Shrimp cocktail was very good too.

Our favorite restaurant, consistently delicious and creative. Oysters are always super fresh, great wines by the glass, and of course the mussels are all flavorful pots of joy! Don't miss the donuts, they cap off a perfect meal.

Delicious as usual. My go to place for Boston style lobster role, though I know the mussels are excellent also!

Rebecca was a terrific server and all of the other employees were nice as well. I was dining by myself (on business) and that can sometimes mean you get ignored since you aren’t a 4 top. Not here. Everyone was attentive, kind, and helpful. The mussel special (linguine and seafood) was outstanding and the oysters were fresh, briny, and flavorful. Highly recommend!

The food is very good and our server was great. He made suggestions regarding wine. It is unfortunate that the construction persists although it will come down eventually. The one thing I would note as a negative was it seemed the portions have gotten smaller since the last time I was there.

Wonderful mussels great choices!! Nice beer selection too and the fries are awesome.

Would I recommend Flex to friend? Yes, but would recommend they request a server other than Vik - he made my otherwise nice brunch an unpleasant experience by giving total attitude when I simply asked about the Lobster Blat on the menu. I've never heard of a blat, but could discern from the description that it was some sort of sandwich, so I asked "what is the lobster blat all about?". The look on Vik's face, and corresponding hand gestures, were half 'you're an idiot' and half 'I'm irritated you're asking this'. "It's a sandwich." (Thanks, Captain Obvious). So I tried to probe beyond what I could obviously already read on the menu by asking a bit more, and he looked completely annoyed and said "what's your question?" I held my tongue and ordered the sandwich, but even my friend who was dining with me wondered why Vik had to be so arrogant and unhelpful. Good food, but the extra serving of attitude from Vik left a bad taste.

This was our first dining experience at Flex Mussels. My wife and I enjoyed the ambience and service. The restaurant has a nice New York vibe. My wife enjoyed her spicy green salad and fish tacos. My mussels with traditional sauce was not very flavorful and the kale salad had minimum amount of cheese and pine nuts. Although the food was fairly priced, I thought the wine was expensive for the quality.
Finally, there were limited entree options if you do not like mussels. The website menu is inaccurate and should be updated.

Service and food were excellent! Noise level was high and tables were too small. Everything our waiter recommended we tried and it was super. Too stuffed to try dessert.

The best mussels in the City! Flex Mussels is our go to restaurant when we want to have a feel good meal. Great food and wonderful service.

Great food, but the greeting is inept and based upon rules they have to ask the manager about. “ Can we be seated so we can order drinks? Are you all here—if not I have to ask my manager” the dining room was not full the entire two hours we were there.

Flex never disappoints. Save room for the donuts, PB&J are the best!

Went for my husband's birthday. Made a reservation few days prior to that knowing that it will busy. My husband arrived in time and I was running late since coming from upstate. Gave an early notification that will be 15-20 min late. The host didn't make an effort to accommodate us. Just said that if I don't show up in 15 min my reservation will be cancelled. My husband decided to get a drink at the bar and was chased away by the bartender who said there is a wait list, which the host never made him aware of. When I arrived we were offered the smallest table at the restaurant. We were then sitted outside, when after placing the order we found out that the table was reserved and we have to move again. It was sad that the host didn't read the note that we were celebrating a special event. Despite that the food was great and both servers were fabulous.
