Flex Mussels - 13th Street
7 nights a week at the bar & counter. All night Sunday and Monday
Excellent as always! Food and staff delightful.
Have been several times. This time it was freezing in the restaurant, and I think I had a bad mussel in the pot, as I felt pretty queasy for a while after leaving. That’s always a risk with mussels, though, and not the fault of the restaurant. Generally a big fan of this place, though it isn’t exactly a great deal. $12 for fries is a bit ridiculous.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!
Nice and elegant location with a very good service, ideal for a date or group dinner. The food is delicious.
The seafood is consistently good, and the service is lovely. Try the oysters casino.
Very good spot for casual dinner, food is great, service is good. Outside area is very cozy and cute
Been dying hi try it and i absolutely will go back
Food was really good!
It is always fun and awesome to eat here. For the most part, I always have the special #23 on the menu and this time my friend and I had the baked oysters special for appetizer- yummy!
This place is great you really can’t go wrong, Thai curry mussels and the crab guacamole was awesome.
The Thai mussels are absolutely amazing!! There are so many mussels options you can keep going back again and again.
The selection of muscles was really extensive and everything sounded really good. I would go back again and again and again to try each different recipe. They had a very good happy hour deal on oysters! And they were delicious. My only disappointment was the crab guacamole. It is quite literally guacamole with crab on it. I was expecting something really unique and tasty and it was average.
We love the food, the service is generally great and welcoming too. Love to sit outdoors, but not such a fan of the cave like environment indoors.
Super yummy mussels! The crab guacamole is delicious, and the wine/cocktails are great! Look forward to going back with friends soon.
The mussels and their sauces were excellent. The french fries a disappointment for any restaurant let alone one that specializes in mussels. The guac was good.
Considering the price the portion of mussels was paltry.
It was alright. Not amazing. No options for after dinner drinks.
I brought a friend who had never been and LOVES mussels. While loud the food was awesome, so much so that we couldn’t even have dessert!
This restaurant is a gem! My boyfriend and I and came here for his friend's birthday celebration. The bar scene had a cool vibe and the inner restaurant felt a bit more romantic but relaxed. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. We started with raw oysters and they were so fresh. For dinner we ordered the fish tacos with truffle parmesan fries, Thai mussels, and lobster roll with clam strips. Everything was absolutely superb especially the Thai mussels which was so creamy and mouth watering. Then for dessert we tried the Flex 4 donuts and I gotta say the s'mores had me at first bite! We will definitely return.
The happy hour is a bit of a scam. Only one beer (Narragansett) is discounted and one Portuguese wine. The happy hour meals posted outside are not the same ones on the actual menu, there is less actually offered. You kind of have to order from the regular menu and it is overpriced. Nothing special about the atmosphere. The fish tacos and truffle fries were really good but definitely a forgettable place.
Sat next to a family table of two babies constantly crying and even without that the noise level was so high i had to yell across the table to my friend. Left with a sore throat after dinner.
Outstanding mussels! The sauces used for preparation are very interesting and unusual. Crab guacamole appetizer was great
Great food and great service. If you love Mussels, this is the place to visit as they have many varieties. You won’t be disappointed.
I usually have the perfect dining experience and bring new guests often but this time around it was horrible. My aunt was in town so i for sure wanted her to experience this place. When we arrived it was maybe only 5 other guests in the facility. It was World Pride but that was ridiculous being you could see the parade from the front of the establishment i would have expected them to be better prepared with staff. Needless to say the food was amazing as usual and staff friendly just poor preparation for the day.
Always great!! Come for the mussels. Leave room for the donuts.
So glad we happened upon Flex Mussels while visiting NYC. The ambiance was great. It was cozy and quiet (probably b/c we were there early...5:30pm). The service was attentive. But most of all the food was absolutely delicious!! The raw and fried oysters were fresh. The parm truffle fries were delish and the parma mussels were some of the best I've ever had. The broth was so scrumptious that we dipped our bread and fries in it! I will definitely be back for more on my next trip!
The most incredible selection of mussels that I have ever had. My ten year old loved the South Pacific, I loved the Bangkok and my friend devoured the bruschetta with lobster mussels. I can’t wait to go back and try more.
Have been going to flex mussels for YEARS and it never disappoints... love it!
Great food and great service!
Excellent waiter. Excellent meal. Excellent ambience. Will be back !
We always try to go here when we visit NYC. The mussels dishes (all of them) are out of this world. Everyone always orders something different and then we share. And truffle fries are a must.
Yummy, yummy, yummy. This restaurant is a well-oiled machine and never disappoints.
The service was incredible -- the food just wasn't great.
Great food with excellent service. Food is marked up but worth the trip again.
We love the mussel pots here, along with truffle fries and clam strips. I prefer it on a warm evening when you can sit outside, as inside is dark, noisy and feels like a cave.
They always have a good selection of oysters. Loved the mussels - they were fresh and tasty and cooked perfectly. We really enjoy their cocktail list too.
Always great! I keep coming back to this location over and over again :-)
We go to different oyster happy hours in Manhattan all of the time and by far this was the worst place. Oysters are small and not that fresh. You can only order a dozen at a time. The wait for drinks and oysters was very very long. And happy hour is only if you sit by the bar, which is extremely small.
Dinner for 4. If you like mussels, no one else really compares for the variety that Flex brings to the table. Everyone in our party had a different type and all enjoyed a lot. Good wine list for pairings and not overly pricey. Overall, a fun night out.
All was wonderful as always but I wasn’t happy that I had to call to confirm my reservation.
