First time diners at Fleurie for a birthday celebration. Having recently moved to the area from Washington DC, where the dining choices are numerous, we found this small restaurant nearby that could easily match and even out compete many of the restaurants in DC and Northern Virginia. We thoroughly enjoyed the small bistro like atmosphere, great service, and outstanding quality food and drinks we experienced at Fleurie. We would highly recommend Fleurie and will make this our go-to location for special occasions as well as going out with friends and family.
Fleurie is our absolute favorite restaurant in Charlottesville. We go there every time we visit which is several times a year. Our meal there on Friday was a true delight from start to finish. The service was impeccable with wonderful wine recommendations to pair with our delicious meal selections. Thank you Fleurie for so many wonderful evenings. I highly recommend Fleurie to anyone who is seeking fine dining.
My husband treated me to a fabulous birthday dinner here recently and we were completely blown away! It was a 5-Star experience. I sincerely believe that Fleurie is the best restaurant in all of Charlottesville. The quality, delicacy, care and skill that our dishes required far exceeded our expectations. The chef clearly loves what he creates because he takes so much care. The waiter was charming, the Sommelier entertaining and knowledgable and the manager very hospitable. We love, love, love Fleurie!
The crusted salmon was delicious and the pre-theater dinner was a value for the money.
We loved everything about our anniversary dinner at Fleurie. Excellent cocktails, wine, food and service. Lovely, intimate ambiance.
We have been to Fleurie many times. This time, we enjoyed the cocktails, quail and salmon starters and apple tart for dessert. I ordered the lobster for the first time and was a little underwhelmed, as the dish lacked flavor. However, on the whole, the meal was superb, service was excellent and the ambiance was romantic, as always!
Melissa’s knowledge of wine and her friendliness make for an amazing dinner.
My wife and I had the set menu with wine tastings. Every dish was excellent, especially the scallops and rabbit. The lobster was the least good. The flavors on the plate didn't come together very well as was the case with the other dishes. The staff was excellent and well trained. We must have seen 5-6 members at the table......all very well coordinated among themselves and a pleasure to talk to.
Always wanted to try this place. the food did not disappoint but the seating was almost family style as a group of four seating right next to us and their conversation was loud (as close as we were) And overwhelmed anything my wife and I even could talk about. Do not really recommend this place as an intimate or even a quiet date night venue. If you are seeking a French Bistro type this will do.
It was our anniversary and they know us, and they did a wonderful job. Fleurie is, in my view, the best high-end restaurant this side of the Inn at Little Washington. For a special occasion, you can't do better.
Our first time at Fleurie - outstanding food and service. Can't wait to go back!
Food was just not good. One of the dishes on the tasting menu came out cold. Not worth the price. Service was great, however, and they were very accommodating.
We celebrated our anniversary at Fleurie this weekend. It was, as always, a great experience. Wonderful food, attentive and friendly staff in a small, attractive setting. We hope to back soon.
Outstanding experience. Chefs menu with reserve wine pairings was among the best a I’ve ever had. At least 7 different wines - all interesting. They were paired and explained beautifully.
The restaurant space is rather small inside so it seemed cramped. Wait staff was very proficient but they were rushing around so much it was distracting. This particular night was very hot outside and the air conditioning was not working well. I felt very warm and uncomfortable and was perspiring while eating which made the experience unpleasant for me. However the food was exceptional.
Stellar dinner! Made reservations for 9 and showed up a few minutes early. They still needed a bit of time to prepare a table, which wasn’t a big deal as the staff was extremely courteous about it and checked on us multiple times while we waited at the bar.
That said, service was excellent. Our server was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about both the food and the wine list.
For food, we ordered three small plates and shared our main. The three small plates came out simultaneously. Both the sweetbreads and stuffed quail were phenomenal. The sweetbreads were incredibly savory and flavorful, and the quail has a beautiful char to the skin as well as an intense flavor. Our third small plate, the gnocchi, was disappointing. The texture and flavor were both really off and overall the dish wasn’t appealing.
The main that we split was the Bison ribeye, which we were lucky enough to get one of the last or given our last reservation. Absolutely stunning. Cooked to perfection with an amazing char and crust that gave way to a tender, buttery chew. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life.
Overall, besides one lackluster dish, an overall great experience. Will definitely be back when in the area.
We LOVE Fleurie! The pre-theatre menu is outstanding and an incredible deal for the amazing food, service, and experience. I would highly recommend Fleurie to anyone!
My husband and I totally enjoyed our evening meal at Fleurie. The meal was excellent and our French waiter was... Oh la la...superbe. The drinks he prepared for us was perfect as well as his guidance toward the best wine to drink. We also enjoyed his friendly demeanor.
A most wonderful evening.
PS: In case this note reaches our waiter please tell him that the meal was according to Dennis "vachement bon!"
Best restaurant in Charlottesville Food is incredible. Wines are a little pricey though.
Fleurie is the best high-end restaurant in Charlottesville, period. If Michelin were ever to cover Charlottesville, Fleurie would definitely get a star. The cuisine is inventive and fabulous. The service discreet and inobtrusive, and the wine list to die for. Beverage director Melissa Boardman is a delight to interact with.
One of my favourite restaurants in C'ville. Fleurie can only be described as highly civilized. Absolutely flawless service, comfortable, quiet and soothing. The food is EXCELLENT and the chef is very accommodating with regard to dietary requirements and preferences. I can't wait to go back there for the third time and try some other dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good food in an atmosphere that is conducive to enjoying the good company at your table.
Always a pleasure! Thank you!! We were dining with a friend from out of state and he enjoyed it as well. The food was delicious, the service outstanding
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner last weekend at Fleurie. It overall atmosphere is inviting and pleasant. I love that fact that you can carry on a conversation because it's not too loud. The service was excellent. The food was creative and delicious. I absolutely loved my gnocchi appetizer, the duck, and a dessert we shared - chocolate mousse cake with a blackberry sorbie. I highly recommend Fleurie and I definitely plan to go back again.
Amazing! Great food, incredible service, peaceful ambience. Overall, a wonderful experience!
Tasting menu was great, wine pairing too.
Always love Fleurie. Been fifteen years since last there but just as lovely as I remembered.
Overpriced mediocrity. Tiny portion of lobster (estimated at 3-4 ounces) that had absolutely no flavor. Garden salad was nothing special. This used to be our favorite restaurant but doubt that we will return.
The restaurant staff and service was incredible! Attention to detail and care for their guests was the best I have ever had in Charlottesville. I had just proposed to my girlfriend (she said yes!) and had left a note for the staff that we were coming to celebrate our engagement and they were completely prepared for us and made us feel special. Amazing food, wine, experience!
My wife and I have eaten at Fleurie a dozen times and we think it is a terrific restaurant. This occasion was no different except for one odd dish - the fines herbes risotto. It was bland, as if they forgot any seasoning or perhaps the confit garlic. A little shaved Parmesan might have been nice. Anyway not bad, just bland. And everything else was wonderful, as usual. Delicious gnocchi appetizer, great salmon main course and the chocolate mousse with a hard shell was to die for. Our server was excellent as well.
The food is beautifully presented, original in its preparation and there is an extensive wine list. The service was excellent. The only negative is the noise level.
We go to Fleurie every year for restaurant week and it never disappoints. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable.
The scallops served during restaurant week for the entree was the best thing that I have eaten this year. Every other course was very good but the scallops stood out. They were perfectly cooked and had a sauce that was outstanding. I could only hope to replicate the bearnaise sauce with fresh corn and lardons. Highly recommend.
Superb restaurant, amazing food and attentive, knowledgeable staff.
Best fine dining experience in Chancellorsville. Service was outstanding. Great location.
Unbelievable meal - the food was incredible and the service truly went above and beyond. We will definitely be back!!
The food is excellent and always prepared with flair. The restaurant is cozy and lovely. Service excels.
The food and services are outstanding! It is one for my favorite restaurants!
It was a wonderful experience. We 4 friends enjoyed the food-so delicious-and we loved the attention by our waiter.
