Fleming's Steakhouse - Winter Park Ratings and Reviews
We went for Valentines Day had reservations and waited for twenty minutes to be seated. It took an additional ten minutes for us to be greeted by our waitress. When she approached our table we asked about the feature menu. We expressed that we had food allergies and could we make needed adjustments and she rudely said no the feature is this no exceptions. Then she said you can just buy your steak, sides, desserts separately. I expressed that it was much more expensive buying separately and I said perhaps we should talk to your manager and she said she'll tell you the same thing. She said sorry and walked off. We just got up and left, ruining our Valentines Day plans.
My hubby and I were told to go to this location because of the great steaks. I'm really picky about my restaurant choices especially when it comes to steaks. My hubby and I are one of the few people who like their steak well-done which is why we were sort of hesitant but instead of going to Charley's Steak House which is our usually spot I figured let's try it. The salad and potatoes were great. Service was great! We were very specific in informing the waitress of our desire for a well-done steak. Once the steak arrived, I immediately noticed how juicy it was and knew that it wasn't well done. As both of us proceeded to cut out steak, pink was all we saw. we immediately got frustrated but didn't want to make a fuss. The waitress asked if it was well=done and we informed her that it wasn't. She left and came back with the manager who was very nice but she wanted to give me a lesson on how those particular steaks (ones we order well-done all of the time) can sometimes hold a pinkness color in them even though they are well-done. I've been eating teaks all of my life because my dad raised cows, so I definitely know about steaks. She manager was nice but I wasn't amused by what she had said. So basically after much going back and forth the manager took our steaks to get new ones cooked to our well-done liking. Will we waited, the manager brought us shrimp cocktail which wasn't our request and neither of us are fans of that. We weren't asked what we would like while we wait so she didn't know if we had seafood allergies or not. After several pieces of bread, shrimp cocktail and another order of potatoes, the steaks came out after about 30 minutes. We were not amused and now we were ready to go home. When we looked at the steaks we could immediately tell they were well-done because they were burned crisp which was not pleasant at all especially when you're paying $50 per steak. At this point, we asked for a doggie bag and took the steaks home which ended up in the garbage.
Maybe because it was Valentine’s Day, but this was my second experience there the food was just not as good. The service just OK offered us lava cake at the end of our meal and said it would take 20 minutes to cook, came to the table in five and was cold.
I don’t think I will be back it cannot compare to Ruth Chris.....
Valentine's Day is likely the busiest day of the year; or, at least it was very busy at Flemings earlier this week. Nevertheless, service was excellent, the menu additions were creative and the overall experience was a pleasure. We'll continue to visit the restaurant regularly.
I went to Fleming-Winter Park on a date with my partner. This was our first time at this location and our expectations were extremely high based on the reviews. The service was amazing; however, the food was not. The temperature of my steak was wrong initially and they returned a steak that was burned to a crisp. Once the manager came over to check in on us, she noticed the condition of the steak and immediately removed it to make another. After about 30 minutes, a new steak was prepared and all of the sides were brought as well. This was a very nice gesture, but it defeated the purpose of a dinner date seeing as though my partner and I had to each separately.
We stopped at the last minute and honestly were dressed a little casually and no one made us feel unwelcome. Nevertheless our server was enthusiastic and helpful. The rest of the staff was really on top of things. They were quick to clear things and get the food and drinks served. The filet was one of the best I have had. We ordered one Brussels sprout side and a baked potato and it was more than my husband and I could eat. Enough for 3 or 4 people honestly. We alsO shared the house salad and it was fantastic. We were both full and had a good time. For me personally the restaurant is classy but boring in terms of decor. The staff is spot on and the manager stopped by all the tables. The food is delicious. The reason we wouldn’t dine frequently is that it’s just too pricey. With steaks over $40 and not including any sides it just adds up. And it doesn’t feel quite special enough to warrant it with so many fantastic choices in town. Still it’s always a solid choice and we have never had a bad experience at Fleming’s.
Food quality and service was excellent as I would expect at Flemings. Unfortunately this is not always the case. Sometimes they miss the mark.
I suspect a new manager, at least I hadn't met this one before, and hopefully he becomes a permanent fixture and always delivers an excellent experience.
Billy (William) did an amazing job taking care of us. We starred with the Tuna and then did salads and then steaks with potatoes, mushrooms, wine and of course we started with and finished with wine all suggested and amazingly done so by Billy ....yummy food and drinks
I've been to Flemings Winter Park quite a few times over the last 10 years. And it seams to have taken a little dip. My girlfriend and I went Jan 13, 2017 for a little special occasion but end more focused on the below standard meal instead of our special occasion .The salad Fleming salad is good, nothing to write home about. We ordered the bone ribeye with the kona seasoning rub. When the ribeye came out, it didn't look great and marbled as it should. The bone was coming out of the middle not on the outside edge as would a traditional bone-in. Cut into it to check the temperature only to find the steak was tougher than expected and temperature was over. Apologies were given and accepted and second steak was quickly on order. Second issue, I ordered the creamed spinach and got sautéed spinach with red onions? Third issue, Bread finally came out the same time as the steak. Bad timing. Final issue, Ribeye #2 looked more like the bone-in I'm used to but cooked improper again (too much on one side and barely any on the other). Plus they forgot the seasoning and kona rub. The brought out a couple dishes with the seasoning and dry rub but to put it on after the steak is cooked and on my plate. Not for me, not for what it costs to have it right. We just ordered more drinks and a dessert. Of course they took care of the meal and I tipped the waitress appropriately. Every restaurant has a bad night every blue moon, just wished it wasn't when I was on a special occasion date with my girlfriend. It left a sting that will take a little time before I go back.
Per usual; our dinner was amazing. We always enjoy our experience at Fleming’s for a multitude of reason(s):
The waiting staff is always professional and charismatic.
The food is always prepared and served to perfection.
The dining room is always clean and comfortable.
The best part of tonight’s dinner was finding out Fleming’s has gotten rid of the IPads. Great choice as they are tacky and filled with bacteria.
We celebrated a birthday at this restaurant. The
Hostess, waitress, water boy, and manager all
acknowledge us. The table was decorated with glitter and a card signed by the staff. The
Service was exceptional and the steaks were top notch. We liked the valet service a lot.
As usual, we had a very good meal at Flemings. Our server was exceptional and the food was great. This is not the staff's fault, but a family with young children sat right next to us and the adjacent seat was a young boy with a tablet. He was watching a movie at high volume and this took away from our otherwise enjoyable experience, (it probably would've been more annoying if the tablet was absent and the kid was misbehaving, but I can't predict alternate scenarios). I may not get out much, but I feel like this should be frowned upon. If your kids cannot make it through dinner at a nice restaurant, it may still be time for a sitter... Heck, they probably prefer pizza and PlayStation anyway.
I was in desperate need of a good steak and knew I could always find it here. While a bit pricey, it was exceptional nonetheless. I would highly recommend the creamed spinach (always a favorite) and Yukon Gold Mashed Pots. Our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu and made wonderful recommendations.
