Fleming's Steakhouse - Palo Alto Ratings and Reviews
We went to Fleming's because we had a $50 gift certificate -- but for two of us, that didn't even cover a *third* of the bill. The food was very good at Fleming's, but grotesquely overpriced. I'd much rather go with my spouse to a "really good" restaurant 3 or 4 times, than blow it all at Fleming's in one trip. Food very good, service outstanding, but overall value was poor.
When we got to our table, my husband had to wipe crumbs off his chair. I don’t mind that when you’re at a diner, but a high end restaurant- really? We ordered wine from the wine list - they don’t have it. The waitress suggest an alternative which was fine, however, the cork was so dry it breaks when she opens it. Instead of bringing a new bottle, she simply offers to decant it. Our food was delicious as always at Fleming’s but it seemed they have hired a group of amateurs to work the dining room, hopefully the kitchen isn’t next! It was our 1 year anniversary, we got engaged at Fleming’s - they had no record of us nor did they ask... things have declined a lot in a year!
Anthony K. was our server and he professionally handled opening a 35 year old very rare wine that we brought. The cork was a bit crusty and I worried it might come apart but Anthony got it out cleanly. And then he decanted it so it had a chance to breath. With that bit of anxiety behind us, the meal was lovely and we were well-served. Hats off to Anthony.
Had reservations for an early birthday dinner. The experience didn't start off too well as the hostess tried to seat us at a table with 2 chairs and a benchseat but in the middle of a row when 90% of the tables were empty. We then politely asked for a booth as we wanted to have a somewhat private celebration. The hostess then sat us at the front booth by the entrance, again not thinking about the situation. The rest of the dinner went well as the steaks, lobster and potatoes were all very tasty. The service was a bit slower than usual but the waitress was knowledgeable and attentive, especially when she had to report that the kitchen was out of sorbet. I will come back but learned that very specific request instructions are needed when making special reservations.
Ordered medium rare, got medium well. I don't understand how a steak house can incorrectly cook a steak with so much environment control and repetition. Quality of beef is good. Service was really slow. Service is hit or miss generally. Friendly wait staff but not good enough for the prices being charged. Would go back because the food is good
Had a wonderful time celebrating both our birthdays. I had the petite filet mignon. It was done a bit more medium than I like it to be. But it was still good, melts in your mouth. Hubby had the Angus ribeye. Excellent! The lobster mash potato was superb. Asparagus was prepared just right, not over cooked. Sorbet was on the house. The service was spot on. Definitely a great celebration with plenty of good eats!
Food was excellent. Service was terrible. My wife and I arrived at 5:30 for our open table reservation. We were seated promptly. It was all down hill from there. We finished the standard menu dinner at 8:30. The wait between courses was unbelievably long. My complaint to the manager went nowhere. If this had been my first visit to Fleming’s, it would be my last.
A couple of friends and I went to Fleming's Palo Alto last Sunday for their brunch. I misunderstood and thought it was a buffet, but was mightily relieved it wasn't. I ordered their Sonoma pancakes which were excellent and came with a delicious pair of sausages, and a cup of coffee. Their version of a Mimosa is also delicious. I recommend this brunch, and am looking to go back!
