Fleming's Steakhouse - Newport Beach Ratings and Reviews
Came here today to take advantage of the Restaurant Week lunch special for $25 which included choice of daily soup special (seafood bisque today) or Cesar salad, filet mignon or salmon entree (both served with mushrooms), and dessert was either cheesecake or a box of four truffles. We had made reservations at 12:30pm and were seated right away in a nice booth. Our server Zax was very friendly and helpful. The soup was delicious, so were the entrees, although portions were a tad small and the portion of mushrooms was even smaller. But it is quality over quantity. The cheesecake was perfect for my taste, not overly sweet or dense. We bought home the truffles, so can't comment on those yet. We enjoyed our experience throughly - good atmosphere, good service, and excellent food. They refilled our water glasses promptly and food was served promptly and dishes were cleared in a timely manner. The only things lacking was there were no flowers on the table and we had to ask for the bread. Otherwise, we were very pleased with our lunch today. Self parking is free, however it does get crowded during lunch time.
Overpriced and Underserved
This is officially our last visit to Flemings. In past years we had wonderful service and wonderful food at this location. We gave it another try after receiving horrible service and food for our holiday office party in Dec 2016. We booked it 6 months ahead of time for a party of 8 which they sat us on outside on the patio without even having the courtesy to ask us beforehand. Everyone left with a cold and in addition to the bad taste in their mouths from the food and service.
We decided to give it a 2nd try on January 15th just to see if the restaurant was too busy at the holiday time. It was equally as bad and where should I begin? We waited 40 mins for our salad, our steaks were dry (thank god we asked for A-1), the king crab was dry, they no longer serve drawn butter under flame, the rolls were cold and no longer fresh baked, the champagne brie butter is no longer served, the waitress didn't suggest any side dishes or vegetables thus our plates were bare, drink glasses were empty frequently, waitress suggested ordering the lava cake half way through dinner because it would take 30 mins to make but never returned to the table to ask if we wanted to order it. We are giving away our remaining gift card to a friend to use. Flemings is now off the list and I won't spend another dime there.

I asked for no onions or chives due to my onion intolerance and the waiter informed me and said he will write this down for the kitchen. My soup arrived with chives on top, so I sent the soup back. Helper arrived with soup with no chives, and said "there is onions IN the soup." ?!
The waiter didn't check on us much, and when he brought the bread, clumsily plunked it down on our plates. The help, on the other than, was much more attentive and was smooth and professional in serving us bread, water, and lemons (which the waiter forgot).
Food was very heavy with salt on everything (including red salt on butter) and cream on everything. I'd like my filet with creamy sauce with whole clove of butter NOT on it. It was hard to determine if the filet was really good or not, covered with strong, salty cream sauce all over.
Cheesecake was the best. However, it also tasted a bit salty.
If you don't mind salty, heavy cream-laden foods and poor service, you might enjoy Flemings. But I won't be returning to this restaurant.
Food was great but services were not up to Fleming's standard. The server did not clean our table after we finished our starter. When the bought out our main course, the server could not put them on our table because they did not take away our starter plates. The server did not offer desert option until we ask him. It takes 20 minutes to prepare lava cake. We did not wait anymore and left. Expect better services when we are paying over $75 per person.
Fleming's never disappoint, the ribeye is by far the best, it's seasoned perfectly, juicy & tender! The service is always superb, we have celebrated our anniversary here every year for the past 10 years and they give you champaigne and truffles on the house!! I do miss the old layout, it kind of made it mysterious when you couldn't see the bar and other side, also that back room should be reserved for private parties, it's isolating and weird, we refused to sit there along with 4 other parties that night.
First time at Fleming’s to celebrate anniversary. Waiter was very nice but it was weird that he made the effort to go over the menu with the people sitting on each side of us but did not do the same for us. Steak was good but it did not stand out from other steaks we had at other restaurants. The experience was ok but not great.
It took over one hour from placing our order to receiving our meals. It was four dinners (two steaks and two fish plates) so nothing unusual. The steak wasn’t prepared as ordered so the manager insisted a new steak be made. The second steak came out too well done like the first attempt and was the wrong cut of steak.
Everything was delicious and presentations were beautiful. We ordered the Seas food Tower and it was fresh and prepared perfectly. My husband and I ordered the bone-in filet. The flavor was amazing all the way through the meat and the quality was great. Service was excellent the desserts were terrific and the cocktails were beautiful especially the espresso martini at the end of the meal. I think Fleming's is the number one best restaurant in all of Orange County
Delicious new lunch menu and great service ! The new burgers are very interesting My husband had the surf n turf; it is topped with a crab cake. I had the steak wedge- steak perfectly cooked. I would prefer it with a mix of lettuces - don’t care for straight iceberg lettuce as far as nutrition goes
We had to return our steak. Both of them.
The bone-in filet and the filet mignon.
We ordered medium and the steaks came completely well done. Yes they changed both of the steaks and they apologized.
At the end I caught them over charging my bill.
It was awful and a bad experience.
I will not go there again.
This was our 2nd visit. Unfortunately, it wasn't near as good in all categories as a week ago.The food, with the exception of calamari was not consistent. There was way too much cheese and less meat and caramelized onions. The service was confused and unorganized.

First let me say our service and food was OUTSTANDING!
My only dislikes are the new decor/ambiance and I felt a little cheated. It had been a few years since I'd been to the Newport location so I hadn't yet experienced the remodel. While the restaurant is gorgeous, it no longer has that neighborhood feel and I was really, really sad when I found out the small bite menu is no longer available. Also as I was splurging on an evening out I really wanted to enjoy my favorite drink (1942 Don Julio Tequila). While the cocktail they brought me was of excellent quality, it wasn't exactly what I ordered. :(
This was our first and not last visit to Flemings opening for lunch. We were not disappointed. The lunch menu has a good selection; good portions and friendly pricing. The Chicken sandwich and sweet chile calamari were wonderful.
They have a very nice dessert selection.
I highly recommend Flemings for lunch. The new patio dining is beautiful and comfortable. The wait service is attentive and professional
My husband and I had a very enjoyable New Year's Eve Dinner. Food and Service were great.
The only downside was I had requested seating in the back room and the people at the front desk escorted us to a table out on the patio where it was very cold even with the heaters going.
We refused to sit out there as it was cold and we had requested seating in the back room. The front desk people shortly accommodated us with a nice table in the back. I know it was a very busy night, that being New Year's Eve and your restaurant was very busy. I did feel, however, that the front desk was testing us to see if we would accept the outdoor seating even though it was not what we had requested. It was a little insulting.
NYE at Fleming's turned out to be a great choice. Vibrant, frenetic, happy people...it had it all. Although a surprisingly small wine list, the options were good and the bottle was a nice complement to great (as always) steaks. A hearty meal to start a hearty year!
The food use to be better quality. The service was so-so. Drinks took awhile to get to our table and our server didn't even check back with us until after we finished our apps. I have over 24 years experience in the restaurant business and am definitely writing a fair and experienced review.
