Fleming's Steakhouse - Knoxville Ratings and Reviews
The food was good. I wanted the crab legs which I had twice before but now they are $84 not $49. The service was ok. We had to ask our server for a couple things . I was so surprised that my steak was not hot and I had to ask them to heat it up. My husband said his was not that warm also. For what you get this restaurant is way too expensive
We went to Flemings for New Years Eve. Our reservations were for 6pm so the restaurant was not very busy. We were seated at a comfortable table and the hostess checked our coats for us. Our server, Victoria, was friendly and helpful and attentive. We ordered the special price fixed menu but also ordered wine, an appetizer and extra sides. The price fixed menu included salad, steak and lobster and choice of dessert. The salad had large shrimp and crab meat. It was delicious! The steak and lobster were large and tender. Too much food for us so we had to get to go bags. Finally we enjoyed chocolate lava cake and creme brûlée. It was the best New Years dinner ever and we will be back!!!
I've heard good things and I've always wanted to go so I went for my birthday and was very happy with everything. It would not be fair to compare this restaurant with any ole steak house... It deserves to be compared against Ruth's Chris, or Ye Olde Steak House, country clubs, or higher end steak places in or around Knoxville. Comparing the them I have things I like more about one than the other but on balance I would say that the food is every bit as good if not better on some dishes. My meal was excellent, the staff was very friendly, the restaurant was a nice atmosphere. The music was a little loud but this could be explained by how busy it was. Maybe the music was being used to drown out peoples conversation.
One other thing. They provided a tablet in a nice leather type cover when we were seated for the wine/cocktail list that had lots of information on pairings and descriptions. I imagine there are some people that really appreciate this because they don't wan't to ask or sound ignorant when ordering wine. But I it sure felt out of place. I wonder if it is a way to eventually outsource and replace knowledgeable staff. For me the solution was simple. After looking at it I put it down and spoke with the server from looking at the paper menu. But I hope this is not intended to replace knowledgeable staff that have tasted the wine/cocktails and can describe them and recommend from first hand experience.
Worth a mention in no particular order:
Dry aged meat
Bread with cheesy butter! Yummy
huge shrimp on the shrimp cocktail
Fleming's is well, Fleming's. Sometimes it's very good as it was on this occasion, but it can also let you down. This was my birthday, so we decided to go because we do like the food. I had the petite filet cooked medium rare, and it was very good. I added a bearnaise sauce, which was a little cool for me, but still good. My bride had the small plate of beef medallions over a risotto. It too, was good. We tried the crispy bacon and brussel sprouts only to find more bacon than sprouts. The taste was a little unusual. I don't think we'll try them again. I think the place is a little high on its mixed drinks, and the wine is always high as well. The service this evening was good, with Josh keeping up with us well. I recommend Fleming's as a high-end steak house, but they do other things well.
I am very choosy about where my food comes from. Our server was very knowledgeable. She did not have to ask the kitchen regarding every sustainable question I had. She was friendly and attentive, a true professional. Also helpful with wine selections as well.
Thanksgiving last year fantastic, this year very disappointed. We arrive and are seated quickly. Perfect. Biscuits without pumpkin butter and honey delivered. Waiter told us later there wasn't any pumpkin butter on counter when he delivered ours so he didn't bother to get any. Brought us additional burned biscuits with butter. Useless. Lobster bisque wasn't hot, not cold but luke warm and rubbery lobster. Ordered tenderloin instead of turkey. Didn't ask how we wanted it cooked. Flagged waiter down and he said chef was cooking everything well to med well. We said no. Med rare. It arrived cooked properly and by the time sides, including burned beans, were delivered tenderloin was cold. We asked four our leftovers to be boxed up. They put both mine and my wife's in a single container. Really? Asked to have dessert to go. Got two shavings of carrot cake. 2 glasses of wine, crappy dinner for 2 and service for almost $200! Never again. Very dissapointed. Happy Thanksgiving!
A quiet night of in restaurant appetizers and fantastic takeout main courses. While seated at the bar, awaiting my takeout, my appetizers were something to munch over but nothing to applaud. Specifically, the seafood tower was a bit mushy. Nonetheless, my takeout entrees, eaten at home, were prepared wonderfully.
We dine at the knoxville location once a month average. Have gotten to know some of staff. Have also attended numerous wine events. Always a positive experience. Seems like low turnover rate. From the greeting at the door to the farewell...everything is always above and beyond and personable without intrusion. Perfectly appropriate. Excellent service. Excellent pace. Excellent food. Excellent overall experience! Flemings is our special. ...relaxing ...special...night out !
I have been to that restaurant many times and the quality seems to be going down every time. The mushroom raviolis as appetizers were barely warm and not fresh. The bread still tasted like the freezer. The asparagus were overcooked. Very disappointing overall. This restaurant is overrated and overpriced.
My husband had the new your strip and I had the filet. Both were delicious. The asparagus had much to be desired, very tough and so thin you could not pick up with your fork. We should have told the waitress but did not. Their steaks are expensive but well worth it.
We loved it. Thanks to Roxana for the great service and recommendations. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were spot on. Wonderful place for a celebration. Food was a little pricey but it was worth it as this was one of the best fine dining experiences we've had in Knoxville. We will be back.
We had booked the reservation through Open Table and noted it was our Anniversary.
We were greeted by the front desk staff with a Happy Anniversary and a card was presented to us when we were seated signed by a number of the staff wishing us a happy anniversary.
After the meal when presenting our check, the waiter presented us with a beautiful box of Truffles and a $25 meal card to be used in the future.
Would highly recommend this Fleming's!
Wide selection of menu items, quality of food, extraordinary service - never felt rushed so was very nice to enjoy our meal. Restaurant ambience was a nice escape for night out with spouse. I selected a small plate - shrimp and scallops with feta cheese grits - which was a perfect size, tasted amazing, and very filling. My husband selected the specialty course - filet mignon with crabmeat - perfectly prepared steak and the lava cake was well worth the calories!!
