Fleming's Steakhouse - El Segundo Ratings and Reviews
We have been going to Fleming's since this location opened. This dinner the service was the worst ever. Server was never around. The bus boy gave us boxes to deal with our own take home. Food was great, service was disappointing. Birthday family dinner for eight. Server gave no receipt after paying.
Of all the times I have been there I have never been disappointed until last Saturday night
The service was slow the food was not hot
And one of our guests was served the wrong meal. The rest of us were almost finished
By the time his correct meal
There was plenty of staff on hand to accommodate the New Year's eve crowd of diners. Everyone was pleasant and attentive to our needs. The menu will cover anyone's tastes from appetizers to dessert. The wine list is extensive. Our dinner choices were all delicious! However the prices are not moderate. Because of this I would only recommend Fleming's for special occasions. And with the holiday crowd the noise level was too high for any quiet conversation. I would not go back again to dine on a holiday. Which is too bad.
It was New Year's Eve. ... busiest restaurant night of the year ... we had an early 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. The place was packed. New Year's Eve. is a tough night, expectations run high. Our waiter, CHASE was up for the night. He was super on top of things and I must say he made the night something special. Dinner for 4 with only two alcoholic beverages for the group was $400. $100 bucks a head seems to be the going rate for New Year's Eve. The steaks and sides were excellent. No high pressure upselling like at the Charthouse.
The good news is that I had gift cards from friends and relatives that put a comfortable dent in the tab. All in all, a nice night.
Initially they sat us in a small back room adjacent to the bathrooms. We asked to be seated at a better table, when they realized we were not going to back down, they seated us in a nice booth. We had excellent service, delicious meal and a great time.
Selected Flemings for a family member's birthday celebration. Because the restaurant was crowded...and even with a reservation...we were seated in the private dinning area in the corner next to the bar . The area was so tight, my dad's head was hitting the bar counter so we had to pull out the table.
Our waiter was pleasant but we soon realized, he was juggling too many tables. He just couldn't provide detailed attention. Our appetizers once eaten sat on the table until we requested them to be removed. We had to hunt down the staff for water refills and drinks. Again, after our entrees were eaten, the plates sat on the table. The service was so incredibly slow and spotty....not crisp at all...very disappointing.
I will say the food was tasty but the service was so poor that it overshadowed the good food. Flemings completely over-sold the restaurant. If I would have known, we could have had a better experience at another restaurant that could have truly accommodated us.
There are so many great restaurants in the LA area...but this night Flemings failed miserably.
Another wonderful birthday meal at Fleming's. Had the 3-course filet + lobster tail - and what a HUGE lobster tail. The seafood chowder was delicious and topped it off with chocolate lava cake. Ask for one of the back rooms - it's quieter and better for conversation. Also ask for Chase - he is the BEST server - knows his stuff and is a great person. We have amazing conversations as it gets late and empty.
We were there for a special occasion- moving and to use a $25 gift card. $91 including tip for 2 large wines, 2 salads, and starter crab cakes is very expensive, but we were going to use the $25 gift card to lessen the pain. But we were told they no longer accept "this" gift card. The waiter took it and did not bring it back. I am still waiting to hear from corporate Flemmings. The food we had was very good, however.
Traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Our server Keith was exceptional, very attentive. My only complaint is my favorite dish, the lobster mashed potatoes were not good at all. My last 2 visits to Fleming’s both DoLA and El Segundo the potatoes have been overly mashed, too liquid-y, full of peelings (ES only) and skimpy on the lobster. The servings of carrot cake I received at the DoLA location were too small to even share, but God, is it delicious!! Fleming’s is known for its steaks, but the pork chop and Chilean sea bass are very worthy. Fleming’s staff is great!
Had a wonderful time for my wife's birthday. They weren't able to seat us right at our reservation time, but we were able to occupy ourselves at the bar, and they even comp'ed us an appetizer. The entire staff was friendly and courteous, and food was delicious!
We had reservations, but it took the. Hostess 15 minutes to get our table ready. The service following that was great, waiter was knowledgable about the daily specials, cooking methods and offered to exchange the soup if we did not care for it- which we loved it, so no need. The surf and turf combos were great- steak and lobster or steak and shrimp. Both big servings and cooked perfectly to order. Waiter suggested a nice wine at a reasonable price. Overall a good experience. The restaurant is busy, so reservations are a must and it is a little noisy. Good for groups perhaps a little too loud for a romantic date.
The lobster bisque soup was very flavorful. The prime rib was cooked to perfection and the condiments added to the flavor. The cream corn and creamed spinach were so good. Liked that the corn had sliced jalapeno peppers placed on top. Great touch! I would definitely dine at Flemmings again.
I ordered my steak medium and it was just about well done and very tough. I was halfway through the steak when the manager arrived at my table in an attempt to resolve my issue and offer me another steak, which would've taken another 12 minutes to complete. I declined because I was very hungry, but she did remove a couple of items from my bill. The flavor overall was great, next time I hope that the chef can get the temperature right the on the first try.
Westsiders are blessed with a profusion of moderately-priced restaurant focussed more on the food then on the ambience, usually featuring locally-sourced ingredients, and unique and creative takes on standard dishes. Only 8 miles south of Santa Monica,, Fleming's might have been in almost any nameless upscale business park in the US featuring upscale but mass market food. The items featured are pretty much standard fare with a bit too much emphasis on deep frying and butter to my taste. That being said, the prime dry-aged rib eye was tender and flavorful, large enough to share. The booth was comfortable and the noise level not overpowering Service was solicitous and generally helpful. T.e free corkage and $50 coupon were definite pluses.
If you like standard food will prepared in a comfortable environment, Fleming's is your place, but you will be missing out on the revolution taking place in the many restaurants in the Westside only a few miles away.
