Fleming's Steakhouse - El Segundo Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful time for my wife's birthday. They weren't able to seat us right at our reservation time, but we were able to occupy ourselves at the bar, and they even comp'ed us an appetizer. The entire staff was friendly and courteous, and food was delicious!
We had reservations, but it took the. Hostess 15 minutes to get our table ready. The service following that was great, waiter was knowledgable about the daily specials, cooking methods and offered to exchange the soup if we did not care for it- which we loved it, so no need. The surf and turf combos were great- steak and lobster or steak and shrimp. Both big servings and cooked perfectly to order. Waiter suggested a nice wine at a reasonable price. Overall a good experience. The restaurant is busy, so reservations are a must and it is a little noisy. Good for groups perhaps a little too loud for a romantic date.
The lobster bisque soup was very flavorful. The prime rib was cooked to perfection and the condiments added to the flavor. The cream corn and creamed spinach were so good. Liked that the corn had sliced jalapeno peppers placed on top. Great touch! I would definitely dine at Flemmings again.
I ordered my steak medium and it was just about well done and very tough. I was halfway through the steak when the manager arrived at my table in an attempt to resolve my issue and offer me another steak, which would've taken another 12 minutes to complete. I declined because I was very hungry, but she did remove a couple of items from my bill. The flavor overall was great, next time I hope that the chef can get the temperature right the on the first try.
Westsiders are blessed with a profusion of moderately-priced restaurant focussed more on the food then on the ambience, usually featuring locally-sourced ingredients, and unique and creative takes on standard dishes. Only 8 miles south of Santa Monica,, Fleming's might have been in almost any nameless upscale business park in the US featuring upscale but mass market food. The items featured are pretty much standard fare with a bit too much emphasis on deep frying and butter to my taste. That being said, the prime dry-aged rib eye was tender and flavorful, large enough to share. The booth was comfortable and the noise level not overpowering Service was solicitous and generally helpful. T.e free corkage and $50 coupon were definite pluses.
If you like standard food will prepared in a comfortable environment, Fleming's is your place, but you will be missing out on the revolution taking place in the many restaurants in the Westside only a few miles away.
The service was excellent! Our server was very friendly and informative. We had a late reservation, so the kitchen was about to close.....but our server didn't rush us. He gave us time to review the wine list and menu, took his time to answer our questions and ensured we got our meals just as we had ordered them. Our water glasses were never empty and completed dishes were removed quickly. The food was excellent and prepared just right.
The place is overrated. It was a first time experience for me and friends for a friends birthday celebration. It's in a great location, nice luxury feel around it and in it. Great spots for taking pictures. The food was fresh and tasty. However, the prices were out of this world high for no reason. This is not a go to place when your hungry. But I would recommend this place for occasions. Maybe 2 times a year. Great for dates and social gathering and birthdays. Not for family meals. What lost me was the sides don't come with your meats. Great service though. It has to be with the amount of money you pay for a entree ($25-$60) and a side(approx. $12-$13). Sunday they had a deal that gives you one option ... salad, prime rib, a side and a desert. Not bad for approx $50 for one person. My bill was $61 because of the drink.
I ordered the lamb chops to be prepared medium. I went into detail as to what I considered appropriately cooked. The server assured me he note my preparation. Someone else in my party ordered the lamb chops as well. Not only did their portion come with one extra lamb chop, but it was also prepared to his specification. Mine were over cooked. The second order was prepared correctly. I believe they should have been prepared correctly on the first order and I should have received an equal portion to that of my guest. Moreover the manager curt and displeasant with addressing the table. In addition to my order we had 2 orders of crab cakes which were very heavily salted. When we brought it to the attention of I waiter. The manager intervened to tell us that the mix was already prepared and there was nothing they could do to adjust it. It was very disappointing because it is one of our favorite items on the menu. No apology was given for my ill-prepared lamb chops nor the overly seasoned crab cakes. As a frequent visitor to Fleming’s I would have expected that at a minimum and compensation on my bill. Neither of which I received. This was definitely NOT my expectation based upon previous visits. It really left a sour taste in my mouth.
Everything was good in regards to the service. The food was subpar. My steak was not as I ordered but I was too hungry to make a huge fuss. It was a busy night and the kitchen may have been overwhelmed. Either way, what brought me there fell short of my expectations.
We chose this location as a half way point for family traveling for Thanksgiving dinner. We had a group of 10 which can be tricky but we had a great table in the back room. It was quiet enough for conversation but lively enough with the other groups in our area. Our server Brandon was FANTASTIC! He really did a great job managing all the personalities at our table and delivered an A+++ experience to everyone. I really appreciate the time he took with my father who is 90 and can be a bit challenging. Joey was also great, we had the pleasure of his service when Brandon was on break. All in all, the table turned in 2 hours, the menu was on point and we did not feel rushed. The pace was perfect. The extra bonus was the fresh "leftover" boxes the waiters prepared for everyone at our table. We would DEFINITELY return. Great job all around and thank you for a memorable meal for a family who was hesitant about dining out.
Went for the steaks-Fleming's signature offering-a treat for my husband's birthday. Soft mood lighting and modernized old school steakhouse decor was just right for the occasion. My prime bone-in ribeye was exquisite. Tender and flavorful with tasty charred edges. My husband's prime dry-aged ribeye not quite as flavorful. At 20oz my ribeye was enough to share so we toted his home. Marks off an otherwise top score is due to the sides dishes. Fleming's potatoes were under cooked as were the brussel sprouts which weren't as crispy as advertised. Attentive wait staff. The birthday card and boxed truffles a nice touch. We'll be back especially for the bone-in ribeye.
Jamie was our server and she was simply amazing!!! Very attentive and a great waitress!!! The food was just ok. My husbands medium filet was well done and my lobster tails were not that good had a weird taste. Dessert was great! We ordered The lava cake and creme brule'
I live in Texas, but always enjoy Flemings (El Segundo) when I am visiting family in LA. Yeah, it is expensive... but the meals are super. I have never had a better steak in the state of California. My long time waiter was not there on the night we dined, though "Dell" did an outstanding job, and helped ensure a wonderful evening.
I hope to return in the near future.
As I was 5 minutes away from the steakhouse I booked kind of last minute.
I appreciated not having to wait to get a table which was a nice one though I was alone.
Very efficient service and good advices from the waiter.
Impressive wine and cocktail list, starter was really good, but steak was outstanding.
Food was excellent, service was superb. Main and petit filet mignons cooked to perfection.
We selected the lobster mashed potatoes--very good choice! And lava cake was worth waiting for. I had noted on my reservation that the occasion was my son's birthday, and there was card for him when we sat down...and truffles at the end of the meal!
Ambiance was pleasant and not too loud, in spite of many tables of 4 to 6. An excellent choice to which we'd return without a doubt!
MIke was our waiter for the evening, and he made everyone feel special, especially the four birthdays being celebrated. We enjoyed sharing a glass of wine we brought, and he shared with his wife, who also works there. While the occassion was to celebrate birthdays, it was also a good-bye dinner for me as I will be heading to the bay area. I hope they have a Fleming's there.
We chose to drive this location for a celebration of our anniversary based on reviews, but were quite disappointed. We anticipated an atmosphere conducive to quiet conversation; instead, the noise level was so intense that we could barely communicate at all. Our server - who was excellent - had to stoop down to tabletop level to converse with us. Tables were so close there was barely room to pull out chairs, in a nearly capacity-filled "great room," bordered on one side by the bar- complete with two big-screen TV monitors displaying the game du jour - the open kitchen/service staging area on the opposite side, and the restaurant entry area an the third. The back wall appeared to be dividing off a private room of some sort.
The champagne and wine our server recommended were very good, as was the crème brulee; the rest of the meal, including our steaks, was no better than average. A gift box of specialty candy bites in acknowledgement of our anniversary was a nice touch (we found the candy delicious when we ate it later).
When spending a lot for a dining experience, we expect it to be a good one, especially when celebrating a special occasion. Sad to say, this was a big letdown...and on a Thursday evening. Can't imagine what weekends are like.
