Fleming's Steakhouse - Dayton Ratings and Reviews
I have struggled with posting this review because, admittedly, I did not bring any of this up to management so they didn’t have an opportunity to remedy it. However, so many issues with our meal were visually obvious that any trained expo or BOH manager should’ve noticed them immediately.
We had 9:30 reservations on New Years Eve. We were a party of 4. I ordered the wedge salad, filet - cooked medium and Brussels sprouts. My partner ordered a wedge salad, chicken breast and wild mushrooms.
The wedge salads were delicious! No complaints.
My filet came out well done. There was NO pink in the middle at all. The Brussels Sprouts were basically carbon. They were completely burnt. Not grilled or “lightly charred”...they were fricking little chunks of charcoal with the most acidic vinegar on them anyone has tasted.
My partners chicken breast should have never left the the kitchen to begin with. The topping for the chicken was black and his physical chicken breast was black. I’m not kidding. Totally inedible and charcoal colored. Consequently, totally dry on the inside. Horrible!
The wild mushrooms we ordered...nothing more than button mushrooms. No portabella, no shiitake...nothing! Just slimy balls of domestic mushrooms. Terrible!!!!
I probably average 6 visits a year to Fleming’s and am familiar with their ability to deliver quality. I have always thought they were overpriced, but the food has been decent. This visit was totally unacceptable. My bill was $192 and I left a $40 cash tip because the SERVER WAS EXCELLENT!!! But for $232, I could’ve had an exponentially better meal for half that price at the competition on Far Hills in Oakwood.
I am so disappointed. I will struggle with ever going back unless Fleming’s strives to make it right and gives me a reason to return.
Lovely family dinner, with the expert service of Richard and crew. Steaks and lobster were excellent. Salads were not as cold as we normally are served, and forks were not chilled, but the policy may have changed there. Otherwise a very pleasant and well served meal.
Main dining area was really loud - I mean REALLY LOUD... to the point where after waiting nearly an hour for our reservation in the bar area, we gave up our table to go back into the bar to eat dinner, because it was quieter!
Positives: great wine selection & my kona rubbed strip was excellent
Negatives: ribeye was extremely fatty, well beyond the marbling expected for this cut & brussel sprouts side wasn't prepared even remotely as described on the menu - taste was completely drowned by the vinegar
Quite disappointing overall, particularly given the premium paid for the Flemings brand name
Arrived 10 minutes early and were promptly seated. A nice large wall table for 4 people was ample for the two of us. I have never liked the lighting at Flemings, personally I think it is too low. Promptly greeted and handed menus, service was efficient and friendly. I ordered a Lobster Bisque and small plate Filet. My girlfriend ordered the Wedge Salad and Petite Filet, we split a Mac and Cheese side order. The Lobster Bisque was perfect, right temperature, creamy, rich stock and large bits of Lobster in it. Outstanding. The Wedge Salad is well just Iceberg Lettuce, hard to get it wrong. Entrees were mediocre for the price. My Filet was perfectly cooked but the accompanying Risotto dull and lifeless. The Shiitake Mushrooms had become soggy inhabitants of the Risotto. The big disappointment was the Mac and Cheese. Slightly better than Kraft, dull limp and lifeless, with a runny Velveeta taste and look. Not acceptable in a steak house. Dessert was Creme Brulee which was good, served with a side of cream, totally unnecessary. A good dessert should stand on it's own, no need to embellish something that good. Service is efficient and professional. Checks are presented and collected in a timely manner. I think the standards should be higher for the price range that they operating.
This was the noisiest Fleming’s I have ever eaten at (5 other locations). The bar is inside the dining area and it had a boisterous crowd. My wife and I found it very hard to talk over the din. We enjoy Fleming’s but will wait until we travel to go there again.
Flemings is always wonderful. The service wasn't quite what it usually is, though. Our waiter made us feel a little rushed. And for the experience that Flemings should be, we didn't like that. He never offered us coffee or after dinner drinks - seemed like he was ready to be done for the night
Good food but I felt like the service was a couple notches below a typical high end steakhouse. Our waitress stopped by our table at least four times asking if we were ready to order. Not sure if they needed the table or something but the pace of the meal felt rushed from start to finish.
Really disappointed! We have been to several Fleming's around the country and were so looking forward to a great steak. Had 8:30 reservation and arrived a little early. Tables open throughout the restaurant but they made us wait till 8:30 to be seated. Standing alone in the front hallway while 4'hostesses giggled and played around. Nobody else walked in and no waiting list. The wine we picked was yummy thigh $24 for a 9 oz pour is a little on the steep side (didn't care, it was good) RobertThe Caesar salad did not disappoint but my 16 oz dry aged $65 steak came out with my son's lobster topping on it. His filet mignon came out naked. Ohhhh..so sorry...they took away everything but his steak, leaving him eating solo while our sides got cold. My steak came back out charburned. Burned. I was SO.bummed. What I could eat of it was okay but the rest of it was just a waste. The waitress asked if I'd like to take it home. Um, no. It was literally charred black. They did bring new sides - gummy mashed potatoes and.vinegar burned Brussels sprouts. I can't remember the last time I so looked forward to a restaurant only to vow never to return again. At least to the Dayton location. I believe one selects a high end chain for assurance of quality and a level of expectation. I will try not to judge all Fleming's by this location but.this one needs a good spanking.
