Fleming's Steakhouse - Birmingham Ratings and Reviews
This place does not deliver on the prices they charge. Steak prices are on par with some of the best New York places I have ever been but not nearly as good. Their strip was cut very thin. French onion soup was not served in the classic way with the cheese baked over the bowl it was melted in. Wine prices were extremely high- bottles in my local market quadrupled in price. Shared sides lacked any other vegetable outside of asparagus and Brussel sprouts. About the only thing that was good was the shrimp cocktail appetizer. I’m willing to spend a good amount of money on a nice meal but much better steak options can be had in Birmingham for much lower cost.
We Love Fleming’s! My husband and I usually go for a special occasion. We went the other night to the Summit location in Birmingham for a date night. The food and wine were excellent as usual, but we were very disappointed in our service. This is a first for us, but still equally upsetting. Our waitress didn’t check on us enough or pay attention to our wine glasses. She also didn’t ask us if we were planning on the lava cake for desert which takes at least 20 minutes to bake, so we had to opt out on ordering it, which was a bummer! When you are paying over $200 for a dinner, you expect the service to be as equally superb as the food.
Excellent experience! Kudos to our waiter, Forrest! He did an outstanding job matching wines with foods, dealing with particularly interesting tastes, and managing to keep the guests entertained. The service was excellent and rivals any restaurant in Birmingham. I enjoyed the extra personalization to the service and the staff did an amazing job!
The food was as good as the service. The dry aged ribeye actually intensified in flavor with each bite. I chose the Oberon Cab with the steak which was matched perfectly. We decided to have the wedge salad which I split with my wife. More than enough, and the brussel sprouts were delicious (I’m generally not a fan). However, the lava cake topped off the meal and was totally enjoyable.
All and all, Fleming’s was the best dining experience I’ve had as a whole of late. I’ve been to Ruth’s Chris, Bellini’s, Perry’s, and Bottega lately. Fleming’s edged them out, catering the whole package. Great service and excellent food!
Loved our very first visit to Flemings! We both had the filet - perfectly prepared. The service was the best I've experienced in Birmingham. Our waiter, Quinn Runnion, introduced us to an excellent wine - one we had not tried before but now plan to add to our cellar. Quinn was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and helped make our dinner one to remember. Oh, and don't pass up the chocolate lava dessert!! Looking forward to a return visit!
Food was mediocre at best. Steaks were very tender but taste was bland as were the sides. Flemings potatoes were greasy, mac n cheese had no taste and creamed spinach was ok. I dont like leaving a restaurant disappointed that I spent so much for a meal that was not great.
Fantastic meal. We got the sweet Chile calamari for appetizer and it was delicious. For our entrée, we shared the 12 ounce Main Filet Tenderloin cooked medium with peppercorn sauce. It was cooked perfectly. We also got the double cut shoestring potatoes and the crispy Brussel sprouts. Both were great. For dessert, we shared the chocolate lava cake, which was the perfect ending to the meal. I personally loved the lava cake by itself, but my husband thought the vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream served alongside really finished it off. Overall, we had a fantastic meal and wonder experience. Our server, Seth, was very attentive as took great care of us throughout our meal.
Always very good and one of our favorite places for steak. The 89$ special was great. Steaks cooked perfect temp. The mushroom sauce was amazing. The only item that tasted off were the Fleming’s potatoes. Just weren’t as good as usual. Also the bread was a little tough to chew. Really would be 4.5 stars.
Went here for my boyfriends mothers birthday and they made the night so special from the beginning! The hostess asked our party who here was having a birthday and when we were seated they had a card for her that a lot of the staff had signed. They also gave her a rose, came by and took/printed out a picture for us to keep, and a box of house-made truffles chocolates! The food was awesome as always and our drinks and wine choice were spot on.
Food was good. Took a really long time to get our dessert. Manager came to our table while waiter walked up and waiter told us he was sorry it was taking so long. (Almost like the order was not placed to the kitchen). Manager didn't even offer any discount after that. So that was a little disappointing. Very packed restaurant with tables way too close to other diners. Could hear all of the conversations next to us.
Good service. Attentive, but not intrusive. They actually ask before they remove a plate which you may, or may not, have finished.
Great food. Usually take home leftovers, but had to eat it all, because it could only decline in quality later. A New York strip cannot be better than this one was. Seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly. Delicious!
It was a busy Friday night. The manager was so kind to bring us champagne because we had to wait 15 minutes past our reservation. At dinner, we ordered a bottle of wine and the “special” for the night to split which was lobster bisque, steak and lobster, and chocolate cake. We also added a wedge salad and a side of potatoes for the two of us. The food was delicious, but with everything being a la carte, it can get expensive. We spent $250 (including tip) on our meal. The food is always delicious, but I’d recommend this restaurant as special occasion dining because of the price point.
