Really enjoyed the food
What an amazing restaurant! Excellent food and drinks.
We really enjoyed the food. The fried green tomatoes were delish...just the right amount of spicy. I had the shrimp and grits...generous portion so I couldn’t eat all of it. My partner had the jerk wings...they were good. He really like the collard greens. We will definitely visit again.
I thoroughly enjoyed my date at Flavor! The food was absolutely delicious and the live jazz was outstanding!!!
Hello, my wife and I was there for VALENTINE'S Day. I made the reservation a week in advance, and they couldn't find it, luckily it was early and the place wasn't crowded yet. They were able to sit us right away. After being seated my wife and sat there for a half hour without being waited on. My wife had to ask the one of the other staff members for help. A waitress finally came over and took our order. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for a Appetizer and they were great, but everything else was terrible. The drinks were watered down, my spareribs was tuff, and garlic mashed potatoes was cold. My wife ordered the jerk chicken and ribs, and they were bland.
We've eaten at Flaver many times before at the old location and the food and service was great. This new location looks nicer but food and service lacks.
This was my first time dining at Flavor. It was a nice atmosphere for a date. The food was tasty. Our sever Nikki was very personable and she made sure that our order was to our liking. My issue with Flavor is that they have very few sides that do not contain meat products and I was not allowed to substitute. Luckily for me, my date allowed me to exchange one of my sides for his. The salmon and mash potatoes were really good! The cornbread was not the greatest. Overall... I like this restaurant and would return.
I really enjoy Flavor. The food has never disappointed. The live music is an added touch on the weekend. It's nice to have a restaurant with not only great food but free parking in your own back yard. Continued success.
The food was great. It arrived to our table "HOT" not warm. The drinks were ok. Our server was excellent attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere is intimate. Great for friends getting together or date night
Overall I really enjoyed Flavors. My boyfriend and I were a little skeptical at first because we waited about 25 minutes before being served but once the co-owner realized it she provided us each with two free mimosas each. The rest of the experience was great. Good for a weekend brunch with friends, family, or your boo. I also heard Friday nights they have a live Jazz band, so although my first experience was a little bit of a rough start, I will definitely be going back again. Also the catfish is recommended and the french toast is amazing!!!
I made my reservation on the open table and it did not state that there would be a $10.00 cover charge. When I asked to speak to a manager to voice my concern I was told that the manager was busy.
Love this place! Everything was excellent! Highly recommended this place to anyone....!!!
Its was our server’s 6th day on the job and he was putting in a good effort. The jerk chicken wasn’t anywhere near as spicy as I was expecting and my wife’s fried green tomatoes wasn’t seasoned all that well. My wife ordered the smothered shrimp and grits and could tell the chicken in the dish was reheated and not fresh. Other than that, the environment and prices worked well and the fact the place was filled with POC makes me hopeful that this place is here to stay, just need to slightly improve the food.
Flavor is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. I visit frequently and enjoy it every time
Just Wow!...We had Girlfriends Night at "Flavor"and it was fabulous! It just so happened to be owners Ms.Rochelle's 15th anniversary for her restaurant.
The decor was beautiful and jazz singer Margaret Webb and her trio slayed it. The food was delicious, first time trying Fried Grit Cakes they were so good. Everyone enjoyed their meals no complaints whatsoever. Our server Nikki was warm, attentive and hilarious. Flavor truly bought the flavor...we will be back!
I took my boyfriend here for Sweetest Day and we had great time. The food was delicious. Unfortunately because i dont eat pork or chicken my food options were limited. I had the fried green tomatoes and smothered rice. My BF had the cajuan pasta. There was live entertainment with a gentleman playing the xlyophone(which was interesting to watch). The only thing that was kind of upsetting was that I had made reservations thru open table but for some reason they couldn't find my reservation. We ended up waiting about 35min to be seated and ending up having to sit at the bar next to a loud annoying guy. But the bartender Jordan was very attentive and had a great upbeat personality. The owner came over and spoke with us and found out that I didn't eat chicken or pork and apologize that she wasn't able to accomadate but did offer to whip up a veggie platter for me. Even though i decline her offer, i felt that was very thoughtful of her and appreciated the customer service that she provided. I definitely will be back and will recommend the is restaurant to others.
The Shrimp and grits was amazing !
The appearance of the food is fantastic. The salmon crouqette, jerk chicken and ribs were very good. However, the shrimp and grits had good flavor but it was extremely watery. The greens had a very strong and pungent after taste. The peach cobbler is more like peach soup. I have never had peach cobbler that was watery and no pie crust. Last the server Kevin was very sarcastic and not concerned at all about pleasing the guest. He made no attempt to resolve the problem or get someone who could but instead he had an attitude take it or leave it. It saddens me that we encounter this type of service considering we try to support all black own businesses. People like him is why businesses don't make it. Change your attitude or profession Is my tip to you Kevin instead of being rude and counting your tip in front of the customer!!!
When I got to the restaurant for my reservation it wasn’t open for business. They never reached out regarding the appointment. I had to find another restaurant at the last minute.
Although I had made a reservation ahead of time, service was extremely slow and we were given our bill to pay; prior to us informing our server that we were ready to leave. We were planning on having an after dinner cocktail and dessert, but got the feeling that we needed to leave!
Food is excellent! Service a bit slow , but our waitress was great!
Great service. Great food. Overall great experience. One of my favorites in the south suburbs
We have been there many times before and this was one of the worst experiences. Our server was amazing but the food no longer tastes the same. It took over a hour for us to get out entree. The pancakes were cold and the shrimp and grits tasted like fish. We usually put flavors on a pedestal but this time was nerve racking. They trying to have us wait to remake the pancakes but after sitting there for so long we could no longer tolerate being there. They took some of the charges off of the bill which was a good thing. The food was not what it used to be. It was to the point we didn't even take the leftovers home. The best part was that the fried green tomatoes are still very delicious.
It was my birthday and I had heard so much about the restaurants so I decided to give it a try! Glad I did! The food was reallllly good! I got the chicken jambalaya, my husband and mother got the pork chop, and my grandma got the liver and onions. Everyone was very please and FULL! For appetizers we got the fried green tomatoes and the grit cakes, both were soooo good! I will be back!
Family went there for a birthday celebration. Food is always great, and the server was as well. My only issue was that, after reserving a table for 7, we had to wait about 30 minutes before it was ready. Other than that, it was a great experience.
I love the restaurant but I would suggest that they concentrate on making sure that all of the food is hot when presented. Some of my food was hot, other dishes lukewarm. A friend experienced cold bites in what should have been hot throughout, and had to send it back to be warmed. Other than that, I love frequenting the restaurant because the food is always good tasting!
celebrated my mother's birthday. Food and service were great
I believe the batter has changed for the green tomatoes. The last 3 times we've gone, they were just ok. They used to be one of the items we HAD to have. Not so much now. The shrimp and grits are still FABULOUS!
It was awesome my Hubby and I needed some us time so this was perfect. Will visit again. My hubby had the fried pork chop very filling I opt for the Salmon ,everything was cooked to perfection. I was a,little disappointed because I wanted to here some live jazz but it was still all worth it. Thanks again.
Flavor is a great addition to the Richton park community. The food was tasty and service was good. I would go back again!
Client took me there to thank me for doing a good job for her. I picked the restaurant because I knew she would love it. She did. Food has a ton of flavor and service was outstanding. The peach cobbler has been better, it wasn't as good as usual. But eveything else was fab. On top of my list. Collard greens are the best!!!
I decided to treat my husband to something different for his birthday breakfast so I chose Flavor because of the legendary Shrimp and Grits! We were greeted by the owner Rochelle Kemp, who upon learning that it was Chuck's birthday, treated him to a watermelon sangria, which by the look on his face while sipping was absolutely Delish! Our menu of Smokey Turkey and Red Beans and Rice Omelette, Shrimp and Grits, Garlic Breakfast Red Potatoes, Praline Maple Bacon, Sweet Potato Pancakes, Red Velvet Pancakes and of course Fried Chicken Wings was fresh, hot and absolutely DIVINE! I recommend Flavor to anyone heading to the south suburbs looking for something different and delicious.
the food was excellent, my first time dining at Flavor after trying to get there for about three years, I live downtown so it's a drive for me, but worth the drive - it's nice to get out of the city sometimes, I'll be back
The food was very good. The Host adknowledge us as soon as we walked in the door. The waitress messed up my order twice, she did correct it. Overall it was nice.
The name speaks for itself, "Flavor" the taste of the food is great. The servers are amazing and friendly. Good live music as well. I want to go back just to get everything on the menus.
Overall, I rated my experience as a 3 star. I did enjoy the new location, decor, and much bigger space compared to the old location in Flossmor. However the waiter service was very limited. After receiving our food, he never came back to see if our drinks needed refilling, to see if everything was ok or if we just needed anything. With it being early in the morning, I'm not sure as to why he was so missing in action. The next time he saw us was to give us the bill. He didn't even see if we needed a carryout. After receiving the bill, we had to go to the counter to pay, because the waiter was missing in action again.
Furthermore, I noticed some of my favorite dishes we missing from the menu. That was a little disappointing. So overall, I can say I probably would rush to go back or even suggest it to anyone at this time. Which is so unfortunate.
Disorganized. Salmon was undercooked and children running around.
Good food.. drinks could have been a little better but overall experience was ok
I made a reservation for 6pm for a Mother's Day dinner with my wife of 25 years and part of the evening. I was called several times over a few days and asked to move the reservation earlier. I could not because of the plans for the day. I arrived at 6pm only to find the doors locked. This ruined the entire evening. There were 2-hour waits at every restaurant we went to, which was expected considering the day.
This ruined the rest of the day and was extremely disappointing.
Went to dinner with friends. Dined at 7p to enjoy the live music at 8pm. Food is consistently good. Had the grit cakes with shrimp and andouille sauce. Very good. Cajun pasta spicy and tasty. Jerk chicken dinner also very good. They serve breakfast all day so you can have signature waffles or pancakes anytime. Their cocktails are good. Jazz music was good. Still able to have conversation while music is playing. Great place in the south suburbs.
