Flatiron Kitchen and Taphouse Ratings and Reviews
One of the best dining experiences of our lives! Chef Bill Schultz's dishes & Jason's wine pairings made us feel like family on a ridiculously busy Friday night....truly memorable. Atmosphere was terrific, service was great, and our experience exceptional. Upon our next return to Flatiron, I'm confident I'll never desire a menu again. In Bill & Jason I trust. Appreciate the entire Flatiron team for a great dining experience.
See you soon-
My wife ordered the coffee crusted ribeye, and I had the NY strip steak. Both were excellent and prepared to temperature. The name Flatiron is definitely appropriate. The chefs made cauliflower (which I do not generally care for) taste great by browning it and adding seasonings. The craft cocktails were also extraordinary; we even stayed after dinner for a second one. This was only the second or third time we had been to Flatiron, and the other times we were not nearly as impressed. This restaurant will definitely be added to our rotation on a more regular basis.
I can't begin to say enough about how delicious our first visit to Flatiron was. Everything about the place-the super friendly and knowledgeable bartenders, the overall ambiance and the unbelievably great food was excellent. We tried several appetizers which were all tasty. The brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned nicely. TRY THE PRETZELS!!! They were served with two dipping options; both delicious. I had a caesar salad with added blackened salmon. The salmon was perfect, the dressing excellent and greens were fresh and crisp. My husband had the scallops-there were four big scallops that were cooked to perfection. Oh....the hand cut fries are to die for-get the truffle seasoning and you will be addicted. They have a nice, well rounded wine list and craft beer selection.
The bar is vibrant and the location in the heart of Davidson makes this our new go-to spot!
Another overpriced yuppie haven...We came here for the first time to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the night we met... and were quite disappointed. First, the restaurant is dominated by the bar, and it sounds like it. While we didn't have to yell at each other to be heard, it wasn't too far from it. I can only imagine it when the college kids are there.
The service was good, our waitress was attentive without being intrusive, something that can be hard to find in Charlotte, and definitely the best part of our experience.
The food was the biggest disappointment of our experience. Despite the use of fresh, local ingredients, the food is only a short step up from a chain like Chili's, though the price is a bigger step up. For 3 beers, 2 salads and 2 entries, we paid over $100 before tip - almost fine dining prices for what was moderately upscale bar food, definitely not worth what we paid.
Long story short: if you want an upscale dining experience, spend a little more and go somewhere better.
Food is ALWAYS fantastic at FlatIron -- shrimp and grits and scallop entree are our favorites and go to dishes. Service was above and beyond. This was the first time we have been cold in the restaurant -- suggest bumping up the temp for the upcoming winter season!
We went to Flatiron over the Christmas at Davidson weekend. We made sure to be early for our reservation and were seated promptly. Unfortunately it took over an hour for our food to be served. The waitress told us it was because of the hold up on two of our steaks and we had to wait longer. We wanted at least kids meals to be out, they wouldn't send kids out ahead of time. Once the steaks arrived, both were raw. We did send Steaks back to be cooked, the manager did take off one steak. We probably won't be back for a while.
Great place to enjoy food and drinks with your significant other and or friends. Jason runs a great business, his staff are so accommodating and friendly. This feels like the neighborhood bar and restaurant you always want to hang out in. The food is very good, Chef Bill does an amazing job and keeps tweaking menu with good local and seasonal product. We have so much fun there, we typically sit and eat at the bar.
We were there on a very busy Saturday night of Parents Weekend at Davidson. Despite the crowd, our server was unfailingly friendly and solicitous, checking on our food when it seemed delayed. And the quality of the food was as high as ever--we especially enjoyed the hamachi crudo, the Brussels sprouts salad, the grilled duck and the shrimp and grits. The bread pudding was a delicious way to end the meal. The ambiance is relaxed but lively--a nice place to spend the evening.
My friend and I came here for the first time this past Saturday for brunch/lunch and it was incredible! We sat outside on the patio and had a wonderful view of busy downtown Davidson. The hostess and our server were excellent, the food and mimosas were delicious, and the overall atmosphere was great! We will definitely be back!
Pesto Brie Fries are amazing. Make sure you order the large portion - if you go small, you will just end up placing another order. Crepe Cellar burger might be the best burger I've ever had. Veggie burger was outstanding too. Fortunately we saved enough room for an incredible crepe dessert.
Not what I hoped for. The location is convenient for me and the atmosphere is good. I had chicken and it was pretty good. My friend had a burger, the first of which was burnt and the second was too done. My friend did not feel comfortable sending her food back twice so her meal was less than enjoyable. Service was a bit slow maybe because they were very busy.
Everything we had at this reastaurant was outstanding on a Saturday evening. Our appetizers of deviled eggs and crispy octopus were fantastic followed by grilled duck breast and a wonderful shrimp and grits meal my petite wife could not stop eating. Beefeater Martini and Bloody Mary cocktails were perfect and a nice Pinot Noir served their duck well. An outstanding evening in a beautiful town was quite memorable. We will return for another visit to the Davidson Village Inn for our room, dinner at Flatiron, drinks and dessert at Kindred as well as breakfast at Toast, A great night in a gorgeous town.
Nice location. Previously had lunch there & enjoyed it. But was disappointed for dinner. Took a long time & when it arrived it was barely lukewarm. Presentation was boring. I ordered a french 75 & it came barely chilled in a plain wine glass with no garnishment.
Our whole party was unimpressed with the food & expensive prices.
Probably won't return, even for lunch.
We enjoyed this restaurant. We had a party of 6 and were seated quickly. The bar was very noisy when we arrived, we asked for a table further from the bar, but none were available. The place looks new, trendy and is tastefully decorated.
The food was good, upscale American bar food. A good mix for everyone, steaks, seafood, pastas, salads, burgers, chicken and fish. Lots of choices for craft beer. Overall we enjoyed our dinner, the ambiance and our time together. The noise level was higher than I would have liked, but it seemed to quiet down at times. If you want to have conversation during dinner, I recommend requesting a table as far from the bar as possible. The bar large and in the middle of the restaurant, so this is not easy. I would definitely go back for beers and casual dining. I would probably pick somewhere if you are seeking a quiet dinner.
Awesome experience. Food was excellent and the wait staff was very helpful. The menu was limited which is a positive for me because of the care taken on every dish. Each one is a work of art as well as delicious. We will be returning. Job well done Flatiron!
We have been to Flat Iron on a number of occasions for brunch or typically sit at the bar. Last Friday night, the dinning area was extremely loud, could not hold conversations with our party of six, and our server would disappear. My girlfriend had to get her water refilled by the bartender and we had to grab a manager to get our checks. Possibly an off night, but we won't be back for a long time if at all.
