We made this reservation three weeks prior to the actual date and a phone call was placed by FLANNEL'S on 12/23/17 to us CONFIRMING out TABLE at 7:00p.m. which I personally verified with them. Imagine our surprise when they told us we were at the "Chef's Table". No I explained...well there is no other place to sit you can wait but there is no availability. Fifteen minutes went by finally no option but Chef's Table. First FOUR tables remained EMPTY till 8:00 or after. Chef'S TABLE consisted of sitting at a bar overlooking coolers where the cooks were on the entire opposite side of the kitchen with their BACKS to us. Not cheap 3 drinks, 3 appetizers, 1 meal...$170...to sit overlooking refrigerated coolers...disgusting!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We both LOVED it. Such a nice quiet atmosphere. The food was impeccable. By boyfriend got the steak and I had some. By far the most tender steak I have ever had. I would recommend this to anyone. Great location and great service.
The food was fine but a bit over priced (and I'm used to Chicago pricing) for what we received. The rest of the experience was a mess. Let me say that this restaurant has a lot of opportunity. However we ended up having 3 different people serve us (including the busser and the hostess). Service was odd with our waiter fumbling through the menu The restaurant was not terribly busy so this awkward service didn't make sense. Our bill had an extra bottle of wine added to it. Thankfully we caught this. Perhaps everyone was having an off night.
Service was terrible. Staff was short. Took forever to get drinks and wine. Food was generally good. Server preoccupied with large group being served inside. Lighting out on the patio was poor. Could not see the food.
It is a great location and evening view. Too bad the service does not match the prices.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner at Flannel however I am compelled to share why I gave the # of stars. We were hoping for a 7:00 pm reservation but could only get one at 8:00 pm. Upon arrival at 7:50 pm more than half of the tables were completely open. It was a bit disappointing to see this. Our server was just okay. He took our drink order fairly quickly but then I watched as our drinks sat on the bar for several minutes before he delivered them to us. The restaurant was not very busy (remember, half the tables were open) so it was disappointing to have to wait so long. To lighten the atmosphere when he apologized for the delay, I made a joke about watching my drinks sit on the bar---he kept a stone face, didn't crack a smile. The food of three in the party was very good overall, but one plate, the salmon was just so-so. Very bland flavor and unexciting presentation; I was expecting more. We really enjoyed the ambiance, decor and layout of the restaurant, it was very comfortable. We had received great recommendations on this restaurant however it was, for us, only slightly better than average.
Space was nice, Food was good, but the service was slow and inattentive. Our waiter took as little time with explaining the menu as possible and was already walking away by the time he was mid-sentence during check-ins. For the atmosphere and the price you would expect a higher level of service that just was not present (and looked absent from most of the other tables around us). We were not in a rush so it was not necessarily a problem the night of our reservation, but when we are out in town in the future, Flannel will not be on our list when considering where to go for our next special occasion. We actually much prefer the Roost!
we enjoyed a light dinner at flannel after arriving at the resort. We tried the dried sausage appetizer which was served with a fabulous mustard. The cocktails were excellent, and the bouillabaisse was quite good. It lacked seasoning though. The black barley salad was impressive and creative. Portions were tiny.
we found ourselves crowded in ceremonious elation, at a quaint, uncandled table (our utmost gratitude as one of our ladies has an unfortunate history with fire)...
Ah, yes...our party of 4, began our meal as any decent and wonderfully debaucherous individual should--cocktails.
First, a beautifully potent mulled marguerita, two Moscow Mooses, and would you believe, after sipping the Marg, blissfully forgot what sparkling flute of fizz I ordered.
Exchanging drinks--a pre-eating must, the ladies took to serious existential banter--what cheeses were to be sampled.
The waitress, Beth, was tremendously buoyant and accommodating--
We began our culinary venture with:
Yellowfin tuna in white bean and arugula broth, cooked to perfection (as rare as it is legal to cook). What a velvet and cohesive bite! And the broth: alight in depthful notes.
Sweet potato gnocchi (airy nuggets of which if only had one...I was the Yellowfin, you see)
Orange dusted scallops. Cooked perfectly. Oh yes.
Salmon with barley. Top notch plating skills!
And of course, wine and cocktails before dessert. Of which each of us, upon sampling the cheesecake, entered into a sort of spiritual nirvana.
We enjoyed the vague, yet intriguing feat of "smart casual" and left as content as any potent marguerita might make a girl.
Five stars. Eight if I could. Brava!
We went here looking for a place to eat on a Snowy Friday evening. The restaurant is part of a resort and is charming. Food is average. Service is decent. Wine and Cocktails are good. I think they setup seating outside on the patio during Summer which would be fun. Overall a good experience.
Great place for a nice dinner. Family-friendly with great service and gluten-free options. We were running late while waiting for a taxi, so used the Open Table app to call and they adjusted our reservation time.
Tried the sweet potato gnocchi with salmon based on a diner's recommendation, and it was a good call. Excellent cocktails and the S'mores dessert was perfect to share with the kids.
