The Roost , topnotch’s Lunch spot was better food and better valise
Flannel had a pretty good wine list
Everything we ordered was delicious. Beautiful wines as well. The staff could not be more helpful. Wonderful restaurant option for a nice dinner in Stowe.
Very disappointing.
Delicious food, beautifully presented, with healthy local ingredients. The chef has creative ways of preparing things you thought you knew well. It's really among the best places in Stowe.
Wonderful dining
Lovely setting and attentive service
Foid not only farm to table but innovative preparations
Wood smoked mussels were th best
Lamb rack was exceptional and seafood risotto a treat and fresh seafood delicious
Service attentive and friendly
Elegant dinner but not pretentious
Don’t get the dim sum.......scallops over
Butternut squash/chorizo hash superb
The food was good. Not amazing but good!
But the service, although very polite, is lacking.
This was our 3rd time at Flannel. It was Valentines Day. Their special dinner of lobster and beef tenderloin was fantastic. It was a great dinner.
Service really good/ food meh! And expensive. For the price I expect a lot more. $180 service included with only 2 glasses of wine, is acceptable if the food is creative tasty and not over cooked. Can not say those boxes can be checked.
My husband and I went to Flannel while staying in Stowe, VT. It was Valentines' Day and when we walked in I was handed a beautiful pink long stemed rose. Everything we ordered was exceptional. Our server was very knowleble about the menu and she made sure it was all cooked as ordered. One of the best dinners we have ever had and that is saying a lot! Can't wait to return.
Dinner was delicious (mussels, saffron seafood risotto and creme brûlée) except for my main entrée. Unfortunately, the butternut squash in my dish was inedible (hard/undercooked) and the homemade pasta was overcooked and falling apart. I did inform one of the servers and they removed the dish, but did not comp the meal. My husband did not want to make a fuss, but it did upset me. They also forgot a candle for his birthday creme brûlée (which they had been informed on). Thankfully, the Director of Food and Beverage contacted me directly and rectified the situation. I will definitely be back to try Flannel out again.
The food was amazing, although the tuna tartare had a few scales in it. We were happy with everything we ordered. The service was horrible. It took over half an hour to get some of the drinks we ordered, one of the beers was flat. We felt rushed and dishes were cleared before we were finished eating. The waiter offered us dessert and then came back 15 minutes later to take our order but had never brought us the dessert menus. Out was just a constant evening of feeling a combination of forgotten about and when we were remembered, being rushed to turn the table. The food would bring us back, but if it was the same waiter, we'd probably leave.
My experience at flannel was amazing! My friend and I both had the saffron risotto with seafood. That was to die for every bite was cooked to perfection. We also got the cheese and charcuterie board that not only looked amazing but tasted great. The cooks put so much flavors and texture onto one small slate. By the end of the our meal we completely stuffed but we had just enough room to have dessert. We got the good old Cookie Monster and yes the size was monsterish. All an all wonderful food, service and a wonderful time. Thank you flannel cooks and servers for an evening I will not forget!
Excellent place with a great atmosphere and very good food.
We really enjoyed our dining experience. We are a family of four with kids 11 and 9; all enjoyed the experience. The food was incredible, wait staff very attentive and the atmosphere was great.
We have dined at Flannel before and have enjoyed the quality of the food as well as the location in the Top Notch Resort. The Steak Frites dish was excellent with a perfectly cooked steak. The Filet Mignon was equally delicious, although a little salty. This would be considered a fine dining restaurant in Stowe, and if you are looking forward to a romantic date night or a special occasion spot, not just a regular Saturday night out, I would recommend that you make your reservation for 7pm or later. Unfortunately for me, we had an early seating since that was all that was available, and we were surrounded by 3 tables of families with very young children, babies who would scream and bang on the table and car seats scattered on the floor. The staff were working hard to accommodate all these families and their kids and attend to their other guests. Unfortunately, I felt uncomfortable paying $45 for my entrée with all that chaos going on around us. If I had just been able to get a 7pm seat I'm sure all would have been fine.
The Chef was
True to its name, Flannel assures a warm, welcome wrap to any special occasion. And it begins upon opening the door and delightfully sighing as your nose fills with enticing aromas emanating from the open kitchen. On a cold winter's night, four friends from different regions of the east coast converged at Flannel - arriving at different times. Our server graciously improvised and guided us through a seamless culinary adventure of wonder as we filled our friendships. We began with unique, seasonal palate-opening cocktails to accompany a robust and texture-mixed charcuterie tableaux of the local artisanship with meat and cheese. This was followed by small plates of culinary marvels including a surprising savory and rich cauliflower bisque. Who knew?! Four different entrees were ordered and deliciously indulged. The sesame crusted ahi tuna and the Parisian salmon were culinary perfection. A satiny smooth charred white chocolate "snowball" of lemon mousse completed the journey of delight. Thank you, Flannel, for bundling us in your warm, welcome wrap!
We have been staying at Topnotch every winter for the past 20 years. Since Topnotch's renovation, Flannel has been our choice for dinner every night, no need to venture downtown to Stowe village restaurants, we are happy to dine @ Flannel!
Just OK. My seared tuna came out cold. I had higher hopes but it felt like a hotel restaurant without soul.
My family of four awash very happy with all our entrees. My butternut squash with papperdelle was well prepared, beautifully presented, and filling. The only other comment is the dumpling appetizer tasted burned. We will definitely return.
We made this reservation three weeks prior to the actual date and a phone call was placed by FLANNEL'S on 12/23/17 to us CONFIRMING out TABLE at 7:00p.m. which I personally verified with them. Imagine our surprise when they told us we were at the "Chef's Table". No I explained...well there is no other place to sit you can wait but there is no availability. Fifteen minutes went by finally no option but Chef's Table. First FOUR tables remained EMPTY till 8:00 or after. Chef'S TABLE consisted of sitting at a bar overlooking coolers where the cooks were on the entire opposite side of the kitchen with their BACKS to us. Not cheap 3 drinks, 3 appetizers, 1 meal...$170...to sit overlooking refrigerated coolers...disgusting!
Room is surprisingly loud.
Pasta oddly sweet.
Otherwise food is well executed. Recipes bit beyond the ordinary.
Service kind
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We both LOVED it. Such a nice quiet atmosphere. The food was impeccable. By boyfriend got the steak and I had some. By far the most tender steak I have ever had. I would recommend this to anyone. Great location and great service.
Quality of food and service was exceptional. Ambiance very very nice. Could benefit by having a coat check room.
We so enjoyed our experience at Flannel! David was patient, well-versed, and attentive. We can't wait to return!
Away from the bustle of Stowe. Great scenic views. Good breakfast fare. Would go back.
Food was great. Service was not. Waited a long time for our drinks and dinner service was equally slow.
Good food though they were out of the chocolate pie one of us wanted. A little pretentious given location.
Excellent food and excellent service. We've dined here twice for dinner and our experience was 'top notch' both times. We will be returning!
The food was fine but a bit over priced (and I'm used to Chicago pricing) for what we received. The rest of the experience was a mess. Let me say that this restaurant has a lot of opportunity. However we ended up having 3 different people serve us (including the busser and the hostess). Service was odd with our waiter fumbling through the menu The restaurant was not terribly busy so this awkward service didn't make sense. Our bill had an extra bottle of wine added to it. Thankfully we caught this. Perhaps everyone was having an off night.
Beautiful and cozy restaurant with awesome food. Everything we ate was top of the line for taste. Excellent wine selection, and fresh, local foods. We will definitely be dining at Flannel again!
Service was terrible. Staff was short. Took forever to get drinks and wine. Food was generally good. Server preoccupied with large group being served inside. Lighting out on the patio was poor. Could not see the food.
It is a great location and evening view. Too bad the service does not match the prices.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner at Flannel however I am compelled to share why I gave the # of stars. We were hoping for a 7:00 pm reservation but could only get one at 8:00 pm. Upon arrival at 7:50 pm more than half of the tables were completely open. It was a bit disappointing to see this. Our server was just okay. He took our drink order fairly quickly but then I watched as our drinks sat on the bar for several minutes before he delivered them to us. The restaurant was not very busy (remember, half the tables were open) so it was disappointing to have to wait so long. To lighten the atmosphere when he apologized for the delay, I made a joke about watching my drinks sit on the bar---he kept a stone face, didn't crack a smile. The food of three in the party was very good overall, but one plate, the salmon was just so-so. Very bland flavor and unexciting presentation; I was expecting more. We really enjoyed the ambiance, decor and layout of the restaurant, it was very comfortable. We had received great recommendations on this restaurant however it was, for us, only slightly better than average.
Attentive service and our meals were good. The strawberry pie was disappointing- thin crust. Otherwise a wonderful experience
Delicious meal and great service. Kids meals were excellent too. Only criticism is that there was a tv over the bar. Didn't think this was in keeping with the restaurant and my kids wouldn't stop watching
Menu was limited. No specials.
The food was delicious and plentiful, and the service excellent!
Great service. Great food. Perfect evening. Will go back and will highly recommend.
Rare cooked tuna entrée was excellent.
