Gorgeous views of mountain from their dining room. The food was very good and the waitstaff was attentive.
Space was nice, Food was good, but the service was slow and inattentive. Our waiter took as little time with explaining the menu as possible and was already walking away by the time he was mid-sentence during check-ins. For the atmosphere and the price you would expect a higher level of service that just was not present (and looked absent from most of the other tables around us). We were not in a rush so it was not necessarily a problem the night of our reservation, but when we are out in town in the future, Flannel will not be on our list when considering where to go for our next special occasion. We actually much prefer the Roost!
Great plating and great cuisine in a cozy setting with beautiful views. Great ambience and friendly service!
Great dining experience, food was superb, friendly/knowledgeable waiter, ate outside, peace in the Vermont mountains.
Amazing , that simple. The food is gourmet and absolutely delicious!
we enjoyed a light dinner at flannel after arriving at the resort. We tried the dried sausage appetizer which was served with a fabulous mustard. The cocktails were excellent, and the bouillabaisse was quite good. It lacked seasoning though. The black barley salad was impressive and creative. Portions were tiny.
Had a great time. Very attentive staff. Food was very good. Gave 4 stars only because tuna was overcooked, otherwise all other meals were great. Very nice ambience.
Beth and Maya made the dinner especially nice.
food was great but the outdoor seating sits in front of a family pool so if you are going for romance, outside isn't suggested. Food was worth every penny but the wine prices were just outrageous. small pours in huge glasses.
Both entrees were very undercooked (raw) and had to be sent back for additional cooking. Many children running around during the meal which killed any ambience. It was a disappointing experience.
Nice place to chat and have a great meal with a creative cuisine. Nice views to Mount Mansfield. Has an outdoor terace overlooking the swimpool.
Great location looking toward Mt Mansfield ski area with stylish dishes which were served with care and attention.
we found ourselves crowded in ceremonious elation, at a quaint, uncandled table (our utmost gratitude as one of our ladies has an unfortunate history with fire)...
Ah, yes...our party of 4, began our meal as any decent and wonderfully debaucherous individual should--cocktails.
First, a beautifully potent mulled marguerita, two Moscow Mooses, and would you believe, after sipping the Marg, blissfully forgot what sparkling flute of fizz I ordered.
Exchanging drinks--a pre-eating must, the ladies took to serious existential banter--what cheeses were to be sampled.
The waitress, Beth, was tremendously buoyant and accommodating--
We began our culinary venture with:
Yellowfin tuna in white bean and arugula broth, cooked to perfection (as rare as it is legal to cook). What a velvet and cohesive bite! And the broth: alight in depthful notes.
Sweet potato gnocchi (airy nuggets of which if only had one...I was the Yellowfin, you see)
Orange dusted scallops. Cooked perfectly. Oh yes.
Salmon with barley. Top notch plating skills!
And of course, wine and cocktails before dessert. Of which each of us, upon sampling the cheesecake, entered into a sort of spiritual nirvana.
We enjoyed the vague, yet intriguing feat of "smart casual" and left as content as any potent marguerita might make a girl.
Five stars. Eight if I could. Brava!
We went here looking for a place to eat on a Snowy Friday evening. The restaurant is part of a resort and is charming. Food is average. Service is decent. Wine and Cocktails are good. I think they setup seating outside on the patio during Summer which would be fun. Overall a good experience.
Great place for a nice dinner. Family-friendly with great service and gluten-free options. We were running late while waiting for a taxi, so used the Open Table app to call and they adjusted our reservation time.
Tried the sweet potato gnocchi with salmon based on a diner's recommendation, and it was a good call. Excellent cocktails and the S'mores dessert was perfect to share with the kids.
Interesting, varied menu-- I enjoyed the duck rillette and a very flavorful Pork Shank. Staff was engaged and social. Our friends first time visit and they were very happy with the experience.
Just wonderful place. Staff wonderful. Food amazing. A real find!
Good food and service. David was a great waiter. We enjoyed the mountain view.
Wonderful experience, nice atmosphere and great and innovative food
Amazing food!! Great drinks!!
Really great burger and wonderful staff. Cooking our own smores outside by the fire was a highlight of the nice. Food was very good.. nothing revolutionary but well worth the money.
One of the best restaurants in Stowe. Great service, really good food, and not overpriced at all.
The food was good but too pricey. It would be nice to have 1 or 2 options that are moderately priced. Rather than have a rock solid burger, for example, it was obvious they piled it with ridiculous toppings just to demand a ludicrous price.
Still thinking about the delicious meal we had at Flannel days later! I could eat the Butternut squash gnocchi every day if I could!
Unique dishes, bring your foodie palate!
My dining partner had a spectacular hamburger at $20. My pork shank at $24 was dull, tiny bit of spinach hidden in a gelatinous ring. Place was near empty but we were seated at a tiny table for 2. Wine was excellent!
This was not our first time at Flannel. The service was perfect and the chef prepared a special dessert for our birthday celebration! We will be back.
Tucked out of view from the drive at the Top Notch resort, it was not easy to find. The food was good enough and well presented.
The food was great. The view was great. Service was ok - our server just seemed to have some awkward pauses.
The menu was confusing. I had to ask about the cheese sampling and couldn't really comprehend that it was $7 per slice of cheese. The price just seemed way too high. the menu didn't seem to be worded well and our server had trouble explaining it. We did get some (3 choices for $18) and it was good with a smear of apple butter, candied walnuts and thin crackers.
We ordered 3 drinks: a raspberry mojito (forget the name on the menu), and Dark & Stowey (both were $12) and an Old Fashioned for $18. I love old fashioneds and almost ordered it but was put off by the steep price. My husband ordered it and when the waitress brought the drinks over I asked her if the Old Fashioned was missing something. It was literally about 1" high of liquid in a glass with a tiny garnish. if I had ordered this I would have sent it back. I thought it was completely unacceptable, especially for $18. Not what I think of when i think of Old Fashioned.
Our meals were all very good. prices were slightly high, but not outrageous. My daughter got the Misty Knoll Chicken, I had the Pasta (and she and i shared a little of each) and my husband had the lobster starter and the burger. The fries were good, but there were way too many of them for one person - even with me and my daughter eating some, we 3 couldn't finish them all.
We didn't have room for dessert.
So i 'might' come again, but maybe only if i had a jump on it or localvore deal. And i would never get their "old fashioned".
We were so disappointed with the atmosphere at Flannel that we did not stay to dine. The hall, leading to the door of Flannel, smelled like chlorine and mildew, as it runs near the resort pool. As we entered the restaurant, the pretty view was overshadowed by the persistent chlorine smell, the dirty chairs, and the other guests walking through, shirtless, in swimsuits. We did not stay to explore any further. We were hoping for a much better experience.
I can't say enough about Flannel. The Albrecht sparking rose was crisp & refreshing. We dove into the warm whole-grain artisan bread & whipped butter, then shared the cheese tasting menu, served with homemade crackers, which were delicious & lighter than air. VT cheddar is the best... no surprise there.
Due to a garlic allergy, our server Beth worked with me & the chef prepared a special version of the scallops & pasta, which was heaven on a plate. Everything was cooked to perfection! No hesitation: 5 stars all the way. If we ever visit Stowe again, we'll book dinner at Flannel before we leave home!
The waitstaff training was so poor that you would have thought we were at a diner. We had a group of 8 outside on the patio with a wonderful of the mountains and our server only showed occasionally, and started clearing when only 2 people had finished. He wasn't at all conversational when asked about the menu. His manners matched the IKEA furniture in the hotel rooms. Too bad since the location and setting are so wonderful.
This restaurant is located at Top Notch resort. The outdoor afternoon dining by the pool area was very nice. I shared a Club sandwich with my husband and this was ample. They also have some nice cheese tastings. I would recommend for lunch.
Flannel offers great farm-to-table options from local VT purveyors against the earful backdrop of the Green Mountains. LeAve room for the cheese plate!
The meal was very good. Our waiter was EXCELLENT!! The dessert was amazingly yummy
& beautifully presented.
Always reliable, creative and consistently excellent. Been here a half dozen times and can't wait to return. Sorry but I can't remember exactly what we had but no complaints, only big smiles. Oh, the profiteroles were just the way I like them: dark chocolate sauce and plenty of it. Yum.
I had an enjoyable experience at Flannel. The food was great, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing.
Only 2 others people in the restaurant , so they seat us next to them at a small table. They didn't have the entree I realty came for (ran out) of pork chops? In the middle of the week?? Had to ASK for a drink refill . No atmosphere at all. Won't go there again.
In a lovely setting - the food was almost great - the swordfish tacos special were served on stale corn tortillas so it was a bit disappointing, and the caesar salad was a bit puny...
the conch fritters were awesome and the gazpacho was delish. Our server, Marko was fun.
My husband's salmon on his caesar was great but the salad was a bit small for a lunch entree.
It was pretty expensive - but we are glad we went. Hope they cinch it up a bit and I'll be back!
