Food was amazing
It was a very beautiful, relaxing, and delicious fine dining experience!
Food was excellent and Ryan took great care of us as he always does! Love Flannel!!
Flannel has some good dishes but overall the value just wasn’t there for the high prices and the average food.
Well designed menu but they fail to execute well - one dinner was served cold and they were not busy - inexcusable. Removed from our bill but ruined our dinner out. Do not recommend.
Service was terrible, the server was nice but staff was not attentive and the location seemed to be understaffed and undertrained (I.e. did not give us water, plates or utensils until we asked multiple times). To make matters worse, the food was way over priced for quality and quantity. Appetizers were bland and entrees were just ok. This place gets a $$ for price but is one of the most expensive places in Stowe and should not be under a $$$$ tag. Definitely will not return again even if meal was comped.
Il n’y a rien que je déteste le plus que prendre réservation et me faire asseoir 45 minutes plus tard. Gros manque de gestion!!!
The food was pretty good but the price of the items was a good 20% more than most of the other places for similar items on the menu. My sons grilled cheese came out burnt the first time and it was dropped off without any follow up as to how the food was. The tables were put extremely tight together so there wasnt much space to relax. It appears they oversat the tables as the staff seemed very dishoveled and it took a while to get plates clear or glasses refilled. Overall good food but the execution needs some work especially for the increased prices you pay.
New Year’s Eve family treat. Delicious & beautifully, not-over-done prix-fixed menu (great options but small entrees course)Chef prepared s’mores —- weather not conducive— were amazing!
Food was way overpriced, small portions and not that good. Our waiter was rude and very absent. He also got our order wrong and never followed up with our questions. Would not recommend!
It was my sons birthday. He ordered the fillet but I was specifi
Two servers tried to take away our salad within 5 minutes of each other while we were still eating it
Chicken was served cold and I cut a piece off to show server who took it in her hand and said oh no, it is cold.
Then they took plate away and Re heated the same piece of chicken along with the piece the server took in her hand and brought it back out on the same plate
The male manager is clueless and never even came over
When I asked him for hot sauce he never came back
I went to bar and got it
Terrible experience all around
We went Christmas Eve and it was wonderful.
Tuna poke was a joke - $19 of essentially flavorless chopped cucumbers (as if that were possible). My son noted the fishy smell from the other side of the table. The waitress did take it off the bill because I HAD TO say something but that tells the story of this place - small, overpriced and suspect quality portions. So while the waitress made it right - be forewarned.
Ryan our server is amazing- we ask for him whenever we go there. All the servers a great. Chef is excellent- very consistent, high quality food.
Excellent meal, talented chef. The lemon chicken was excellent.
The chefs at Flannel have fallen into the habit of many present-day chefs -- too much salt and too much red pepper (or whatever spice they use to make the food spicy). I had the squash soup and lamb stew and both made my mouth tingle -- not something I'd prefer with the two dishes I choose. I prefer to taste the food -- not the spice used to overpower the taste of the food. Flannel was okay -- expensive for what you got. It would be great to have more wine choices available by the glass.
The atmosphere and food were very good. A little pricey.
Upon arriving for an 8 pm reservation, we were greeted by the host and promptly seated. There were only two other tables occupied at that time. We were under the impression that the restaurant was local and seasonal ingredients. Not sure how local corn was still growing in late November! The restaurant was still on their summer menu and upon ordering we were told the menu was going through changes and the short rib that I ordered would not be as described but with a bordelaise sauce. My husband ordered the roast chicken with harissa and shaved pea and carrot salad. We weren't extremely hungry but we did want to try the "chef's choice" salami. We asked if it was a local sausage maker? Waitress- not sure but it's a fennel sausage. Took forever to come out. We were almost through with our cocktail by the time it arrived at our table. Again- 1 plate of 1 salami and only two other tables who were almost finished! Then we waited for our entrees, again, we waited. When the food came to the table, both of our dishes were cold. The harissa on my husband's place was ICE cold as if it had been defrosted. The grits on my plate were overdone with cream and again cold. The short rib was cold. Sent it back to the kitchen at which point the waitress did apologize. Returned with food a considerable amount of time later and my short rib was warm but not hot, grits appeared to be made, but warm, not hot. The waitress asked if I wanted something else and I replied no, at this point, I wasn't waiting again. Finished dinner and waitress asked if she could get us anything else, not would we like to see the dessert menu, not if we'd like coffee or tea, etc. So we asked for some tea and the dessert menu. We were told two of the 6 dessert items were not available. Disappointed since those were the best choices. We passed on dessert, went to steep our tea and yet again the water was cold! For the cost of the hotel and the restaurant, we were extremely disappointed.
It was so cold in the dining room that most guests were wearing their winter coats! I can handle it quite cold and actually prefer it to being too warm but this was ridiculous. It is winter in Vermont and you don't expect a restaurant to be air-conditioned, which it sure seemed to be. We asked if it could be adjusted but it made no difference. It's too bad...the service was good and food was great but the entire experience was dampened by the constant shivers.
Went to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday and had a great time! Brian, the bartender, makes excellent drinks and was exceptionally friendly. Our server, Ryan, was thoughtful and knew when to be at the table and when to let us enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed. Great job to the kitchen too! The lamb and seafood risotto were wonderful.
We were very thankful to have made this reservation! It is a gem worth driving to if you are staying in the Stowe area. It has a completely desirable ambiance. It’s elevated, yet comfortable. The cocktails were great. The food was amazing. Although we were promised “two of the last three specials” and ended up with one on the table. However the manager was so kind and hilarious when she came over to break the news. Another small mistake that made us laugh, the birthday dessert (with candle) was dusted on top with loose coconut flake. You can guess what happened when she made a wish! Either way, this was the highlight of our stay in this town and we will never forget it.
The food was certainly above average but not "Wow!" A little pricey considering the food, ambiance, etc. Edson Hill wins out by a long shot.
Casual warm spot with great food &service great views firepit &s'mores too
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Flannel. Wonderful spot! Service was outstanding and the food quality was topnotch!
Excellent meal. Wonderful servers. Our bar tender was fantastic and recommended a wonderful bourbon. Their duck breast special was outstanding and the ambiance and scenery of the restaurant was amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and even better service. Definitely recommend the foie gras!
Outstanding service and meals!
Our server was very sweet and helpful. Food was good - just nothing to write home about.
Just a very poor experience. Table not ready, ended up seated in the back at an awkward table even with reservations made weeks in advance. Staff tried to make up for it by offering complementary options. We just wanted a great experience, not free stuff. Table service was poor and inattentive. Food was very disappointing. Entrees delivered cold. Plates were sloppy, could see the chef towel marks on every plate. Very unappetizing. No one in our party finished their main course. Did not stay for coffee and dessert.
Great service, expensive for what you get but food was delicious, and a lot of young children which distracts from the upscale atmosphere
We had never been to this restaurant, but from this experience I would not go back.
First, the directions in the parking lot are unclear. Went in where the front desk is for Top of the Notch and received little help in location of Flannels. Had to walk outside on a gravel path. Then when we found the entry to Flannels we were greeted at the host stand with a " I'll be with you in a moment". Really, not even welcome?
We were then seated. First ordered the cheese & charcuterie. The small dollop of cheese was hard to believe. 8 for this? Salami and sausage were very good. Wine we ordered was also very good. I got the half chicken and half of it was very good, other half had pink and I chose not to eat it. My wife got the seafood risotto which was supposed to have scallops and lobster tail among other things. The lobster tasted bland and the scallops were undercooked. Again this is something that shouldn't have pink on it, but did.
She ate one bite of each and stopped.
And for the record, we both have had seafood just the night before which was excellent at Solstice at Spruce Peak.
Anyway, she had that replaced with a filet mignon. It was better, but when ordered as medium, came out medium rare. As we had expected by this time of the dining evening.
So, issues are,
For a dining place that is touted at a higher level, with prices that would be expected for such a place, this Flannels left a lot to be desired. Certainly not close to the other much better choices that this area has to offer.
Excellent date night. Cocktails were well crafted; Bees Knees and Maple Manhattan were two favorites. Cheese board, entrees and dessert were all delicious.
Flannel and the Top Notch Resort was just beautiful. We would definitely recommend it and go back.
Average in all ways. Nothing special. The best part of the experience was our server, Doug, who was good. Food was so/so, atmosphere is so/so, and other servers were just so/so. (Ate there a few times since we were staying at the resort and Flannel is better than Notch, the other option here).
Food so/do, overpriced. Waiter practically tossed our food on the table, turned around snd walked off. Never came to check on us. We saw the water girl more.
Had a great birthday celebration dinner. The food was downright delectable and the drinks fantastic! The bartender made a special cocktail for us that we had had in Italy when visiting family, even though she had never made it before...superb!
