Flames Bar and Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food is overpriced. I ordered a Filet Mignon med- well and it came out rare, had to send it back and my husband ordered the shell steak med and it came out barely cooked so it went back. The baked potato was luke warm. Just felt for the high prices they could have done a better job with cooking the food. Overall don't think we will be going back.
My friends and I were going out and decide to try someplace new to all of us. We made an excellent choice by coming to Flames. We were not disappointed. The bar tender was excellent, as was the waiters and the food.
We will definitely come back again to celebrate a special occasion or just a special day.
The food was good, but this restaurant is mis-represented on Open Table. It is very expensive and it is marked as $$ under $30. We had one entry and one side of vegetables each with no drinks and it cost $80. I was looking for a casual place to go with a friend on a weeknight.
I would not go back.
Service was excellent. Food was tasty and portion sizes were good. Wasn't expecting bill to be as high as it was, it should really be three or four $$$$ on the app not two. Sixteen dollars for a glass of merlot and twenty for a kids butter pasta jumped out at me on the bill as a bit expensive for what it was. I might return for a date night with my wife.
We went for my dads birthday. We had a great experience. Excellent steak and sides. We had the steak for 3 for the four of us and it was more than enough food. We started with shrimp cocktail and lump meat crab as well as the wedge and bacon.Everything was as good as any high end steak house in the city.
A classic NY style steak house, in a quaint tavern setting, in central northern westchester. Top notch food, versatile menu, great bar scene, and wait staff eager to please and very attentive. Expensive but certainly in line with comparable houses of meat. For those who like steak and the manly setting of a classic steak house, Flames will nit disappoint.
This is our first time back in 3 years and I found it disappointing. Food was only OK. I had to send my steak back. I ordered medium rare and it came out well. The lobster tail was over cooked. Vegetable side dishes were soggy and loaded in oil. The place was not that busy but the service was very inattentive, except the lovely waiter who showed us dessert tray. We had no drinks, just water. Not worth the 323 dollar bill in any way. Skip it.
This place was phenomenal. My boyfriend just brought me here on a date...and I LOVED it. It was so romantic. The waiterstaff were super knowledgeable about the food and wine pairings, and even gave us an extra dessert at the end when we couldn't decide between too.
I am DEFINITELY coming back here again!
Traditional steakhouse with some Italian touch. This is a traditional steakhouse which offers a solid Porterhouse. The steak was excellent.
The salads are traditional and basic. Their fried calamari looked like the ones in Spain or Italy "alla Romana", not often seen prepared like this in the US, with large calamari rings rather than the most frequent smaller ones. The coating was perfect.
Service was as expected for a formal restaurant, very professional. Ambience was very quiet, with few tables remaining when we got there, but it was 8pm on a Sunday night in Westchester, kind of expected.
As usual, the devil is in the details. We had a girl in our party ask for a pasta dish, only pasta and a little butter. That was charged as a wholly prepared pasta dish +$20. Hmmm. Most expensive boiled pasta ever. I cannot understand formal, traditional restaurants that (a) do not have a kids' menu (do they understand that these days flexibility gets you very far in the food industry?), which can be for some families a decision making point about going vs not, that bad, and (b) even without a kids' menu, they charge you a full dish for something like boiled pasta. Just does not make sense and you feel taken advantage of.
The taste left with the client is a bit sour, when it should have been an opportunity to acquire a customer forever. All for maybe $10? Food for thought.
All in, a solid steakhouse experience in Westchester county.
My wife and I went to Flames for our 1st anniversary. I hadn't been there in a long time and my wife had never been.
We had a great time, with excellent service. The porterhouse for two was tremendous. Perfectly cooked with great flavor.
We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
Though fully priced, the steak, which after all is why one goes to a steak restaurant, was excellent. The supporting caesar salad was ordinary at best, soggy (not crisp) and disappointing. The desert also was nothing special. Great steak, service ok and appetizer and desert just ok. Considering the cost at $100 pp, (one drink apiece) I think you could say that it's a lot for a great steak.
Dining at Flames was a wonderful experience. From the moment you enter and are met by the valet a high level of quality and service is given. The food was delicious. Presentation, selection and quality of the food was excellent from steaks to sides to pasta to dessert. Price was well worth the quality. Service was excellent and my children were well taken care of and catered to. I would definitely recommend and will come again.
Arguably, my favorite steak restaurants of all time .... though I hadn't eaten here in several years. It was nice to see that their (porterhouse) steak is STILL top quality! Each staff member we came into contact with was pleasant, attentive and professional .... from the valet, to the maitre d, to our waiter, too! Flames is NOT a cheap place to eat, but for a special occasion, and/or for a steak dinner you won't soon forget ..... they are STILL the best around!!
Usually one of our favorites. Has always been a go to place for a special occasion. However, last night my wife's birthday dinner missed the mark.
1) reservations through Open Table for us and our guests left us at separate rather than the same table for more than 20 minutes.
2) the main course, 2 orders of porterhouse for 2 were under-seasoned rendering the steaks tasteless. The steaks were to be done "medium" and "medium rare". The waiters could not tell the difference between the porterhouse orders and one order was brought back to the kitchen to be cooked further.
3) the fried onions were thin and relatively bland (although not greasy).
4) the two baked potatoes ordered were dry and overdone.
5) the creamed spinach was lukewarm and required reheating.
6) the servers required us, their guests, to assist clearing the table for coffee and dessert.
7) we were not informed of a dessert special, a lemon sherbet parfait, until making a point of asking our waiter why the next table had been offered a dessert we were not.
8) a beer order was forgotten and not delivered until reminded after 20 minutes, as well as two cappuccinos that were "on the house" by the time they were brought to the table.
I believe that the relatively new ownership should take stock of their staff and kitchen to right their ship as it will be a while before this long time fan visits again.
Haven't been in a long time since new ownership. Food was good. Place was updated and looks much better. Good bar crowd.
Service was friendly and accommodating but I felt waiter had to many tables to handle himself and things were missed and late to the table.
Steak was good. Tad pricy for the quality but presentation was very good. Sides are just okay..vegetables didn't have much taste. Desert was very good.
