Out of an abundance of caution in light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, Flame at the Four Seasons Resorts and Residences Vail is closed at this time.

As Four Seasons Vail’s signature restaurant, we want FLAME to focus more on “fun dining” rather than traditional fine dining. Locally sourced and seasonally inspired dishes combined with unique steak cuts and tableside experiences provide guests with an interactive dining adventure you can’t get just anywhere.

Nice ambiance.
Good food.
Waiter played tricks with the wine list, when the year advertised on wine list wasn’t available.

We have dined at Flame for a few years and it has always been a favorite.
We went recently and have decided we are not fans of the semi-new menu.
If you want a filet - your only choice is a $90 wagyu steak. Really?
Less salad options as well.
No baked or scalloped potatoes at a steak place?

As usual the service was exceptional and the ambiance is always pleasant.
We will wait until they come out with a new menu to go back - and we hope that is by early summer as we do enjoy the restaurant.

We have always enjoyed the Flame over many years however the menu has changed drastically and not at all what we expected - very disappointing. We were not able to order what we had hoped to, however what we did order was good except for the soup and the chicken entree. We always make sure we dined there a few times each season but I doubt we will be going back. Like losing an old friend.

Terrible waiter, very uncaring manager after food came out overcooked, and after 20 minutes nobody checked on us, where it shouldn’t have taken that long to cook a rare piece of meat. Very disappointed. Will never come back

They've changed their menu and not for the better. Fewer steak options but still not many GF or vegetarian options. I ordered the only 8 oz. filet they are now offering and it was $90. It was good, but a $50 domestic filet would have been just as good.

New menu items greatly enhance the dining experience. Prices are high, but to be expected. After all, this is Four Seasons in Vail. Dover Sole ($58), was good, not great. Free range chicken ($38) was delicious. Steaks priced $58 (tenderloin) to $120 (Wagyu), but we opted for alternative selections. We look forward to our next visit.

New chef and the menu selections was very poor for a steak house. Lamb chops were 90%fat. They ran out of carrots???

We ordered the Ceasar salad table experience which I assume means they n m ale it at the table. They brought us a salad already prepared. Hen I did notice that other tables were having it n made table side. I should have questioned it but they should know.
We have been her numerous times but the last couple the service has declined.

We went for my husband’s birthday, and we’ve been before and loved it. But that night- something was off in the kitchen! The New York strip steak was fatty! The carrots salad was so sour - I returned it ! The brussel sprouts were bland , hard and not cooked enough.
The Ceasar salad was fabulous! My cocktail from the bar upstairs, Remedy was super. But dinner- not sure I’ll rush back. I miss Chef Marcus...

Waiter took 10-15 minutes to come to our table for even a drink order, and then only after we asked another staff member to find him. We have eaten here before without an issue. This is not the level of service we expect at a Four Seasons restaurant. Also, very small number of selections for gluten for dairy-free diners.

We chose this restaurant in the Four Seasons hotel knowing it would probably be a but more pricey than other options. However, we were craving a nice filet and figured this might be the best option with the least chance of loud patrons.

We were seated at a nice, quiet table however there were some very loud guests across the restaurant which seemed to feel no one else mattered. How are people so oblivious?!

We had a nice leisurely dinner. If one wants bread with pre-dinner drinks, they offer 2 homemade rosemary rolls with warm ricotta cheese for $8. (It is the Four Seasons after all!). Sadly, the only filet offered were Waygu quality and at $90 for 8 ounces, we chose a different option. My husband enjoyed his rack of lamb ($56) and I loved my Dover Sole Meunière ($57). We shared the pancetta-roasted Brussels sprouts and they were very good.

Wines by the glass are of a good range and quality. We enjoyed being able to sip a taste before the glass was poured at our table. We also enjoyed our server’s wonderful attention. He offered great suggestions and checked with us as to how we were doing.

I‘m sure there are probably more reasonably-priced steak options in Vail but if you go in knowing that this will be Vail Four Season prices, you won’t be disappointed.

We ate at Flame a year ago and had an amazing experience, however our recent experience was disappointing. For a steak house, they only had 7 steaks on the menu. My ribeye had no flavor and my wife’s lamb was overcooked and bland as well. Service was also lacking for a restaurant at this price point.

Used to be a reliably good steak house. Menu has changed. Prices have doubled, at least. Can’t get a basic steak- only options for a single portions are high end specialty cuts- 8oz filet for $98! They are encouraging “family style” steaks- large cuts already sliced. All steak comes out on a “sizzling platter” at medium rare- if you want your steak cooked more, “leave it on the sizzling platter”. Especially since prices have doubled, I don’t expect to have to cook my own steak. They said they went to this style because they were getting too many steaks sent back to the kitchen for not being prepared correctly. Perhaps cooking them right in the first place would have been a better solution! Much better steak restaurants in town than this one. Also tried their special pork dish-very average. Had a table with 6 people. All ordered a cocktail to start. They were brought out one by one, with several minutes between each one. Otherwise, waiter was fine. But we won’t be returning to what used to be a family favorite.

Food was mediocre. Atmosphere was amazing. Our server was really lovely, so it makes it hard to say, “yea, this $26 bite of artichoke is boring and unimaginative”. At a different price point, I’d have less criticism, but there is no excuse to be this high end in price and execution and come out so average in food taste. If you are a fan of bland, over priced, mediocre food, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more lavish presentation of it.

Use to be one of my favorite places to eat in Vail. They have recently changed their menu. For me personally I think when they made the change they lost their “IT” factor. The food was very average, the ambience in the restaurant wasn’t the same as past experiences. Still a good restaurant to go eat at but not the 5 stars of the past

Outrageously priced and every interaction with the server is their opportunity to up-sell. I found the featured Filet is $90 from Snake River Farms, the same steak can be bought at Safeway, not really what you want to see. Food was good, but nothing special and certainly not with the premium. They charge what they want because they can. I’ll never return and let our hotel concierge to not send folks...sometimes it’s beyond the food and in this case our meal felt like an insult.

Visiting a resort town is always an adventure - the people you meet at one restaurant or bar have ties to another place in town. Everyone knows each other. The trick is to be open to new experiences and meeting new people. A chance meeting with Andy while at the bar at Vail Chophouse was fortuitous. A genuine guy, who was friendly and open with my wife and I, so much so that we made a reservation for later in the week with our teenage son and daughter. Flame in the Four Seasons was everything we could have asked for. But what really made the dinner was Andy and his infectious excitement and warmth. Between the four of us, we ordered nearly everything on the menu (save for the multi-person steaks), and all were hits. Must haves were the tableside Caesar which we shared, and the Cacio e Pepe, again, tableside, made in a cheese wheel. The cocktails were spot on, and to finish off the night, we had the Maple Bourbon doughnuts to bring back to our room. Even after all that (and a filet and rigatoni dish), it was still relatively reasonable, and dare I say, a good deal in Vail? Don't be deterred by the fact that it is the Four Seasons and might be inordinately expensive - it was a much better value than a few other places we ate over the first week of 2020 in Vail. Kudos to Flame and Andy. Well done.

We went there for my wife’s birthday. It’s really impressive, as we’ve come to expect from the Four Seasons. The waitstaff were pleasant and knowledgeable. The only real complaint was the waitress reviewed the menu, then left us for 5-10 minutes without taking our drink order. We ordered the scallops, which we were warned should really be on the menu as an appetizer. Her assessment was accurate, but my wife ordered the 8oz wagyu filet, and we shared the two orders. The scallops were good - there were four of them, the size of my thumb from the last knuckle out, served with perfectly done lentils. But the filet was amazing. A big chunk of meat, heavily seared on the outside, closer to medium than medium rare inside, but no complaints. We also ordered the artichokes - good, but a very modest portion for the price.

Our server started off the introductions “ that we have changed our menu and some people hate it.”
When we ordered Caesar salad for the table, she only made it for one and charged us $47.00 for one Cesar salad. When we received our food, we never saw the waitress again.
I pointed these mistakes out to her and in a huff lowered the salad price. I told her we came to the restaurant one time a year for the past several years and it was the worst service ever. She asked “ what was wrong?” Even after complaining about her poor attentiveness. I really won’t go back.
