At Flaherty's...Fish is Everything!

We know good seafood, we know how to buy it and we know how to prepare it. Unlike most restaurants (even the best of them) where fish is often a secondary item on the menu...at Flaherty's it's all about seafood.

Here, you will experience a small town, comfortable, family atmosphere, where quality ingredients and quality preparation come together with quality service. We also include gluten free items in our menu to provide all of our customers with the best service possible. It's who we are...come and experience seafood like it was meant to be.

This was a mixed dinner, some good and some not so good. Service was good, seated on time for our resv, glasses kept full, bread served was excellent, nice feeling at restaurant.
The not so good was the Wedge Salad which my wife and I split. Lots of yellow leaves, blu cheese almost non existent and same for bacon. Not used to seeing caramelized nuts on this type of salad. Would not order again. My wife had the grilled salmon with rice and vegetables. Attractive arrangement and the vegetables were good. The server did not ask how my wife wanted her salmon cooked so was very undercooked for her.
I had the seashell risotto and this was one of the best dishes I had while in Carmel for five days. Mussels and clams were good, shrimp and lobster were very good and the risotto itself was tasty.

Our server, Jennifer, was delightful. The food was fantastic. Artichokes to start, oysters Rockefeller and the stuffed trout. All delish!

Food was good. Some a bit too rich. We had a private room by default since we had a party of 14. Service was fine. Fried seafood platter looked greasy. Calamari was tasty. I had the trio of sliders. Not much taste though.

Such a great spot. The service was awesome and the food so delish! There were 10 of us and our server Sandra was a champ!

The food was good, but not great. One bit of advice— there are two separate entrances and ambiances for this same restaurant. One is a bar and loud; the other is a nice white tablecloth restaurant. They offer the same menu. When we checked in they gave us a table in the noisy bar, which wasn’t what I wanted. There is no way to know which room you are going to get when you make a reservation. You get what is available. Luckily a table in the nicer room opened almost immediately. You may consider calling if you prefer one ambiance over the other.

The fish and chips was very good. It was hard to tell what my halibut special was going to be by its description. It turned out to be a soupy bowl, good, but heavy on the potatoes. All in all good.

For whatever reason the bar tender was serving our table, although persons on each side had wait staff. A simple lunch for two took 2 hours because of a long wait for the two courses, and had I not asked another waitress for the check, it would've been longer. As I was redeeming a certificate, and my phone had spotty service in the restaurant, the bartender was hovering over me and trying to insist I not leave until the screen showed the certificate was redeemed. I can appreciate that they're trying to avoid fraud and double redeeming, but if they don't have a WiFi for customers to log into in these cases, there isn't anything the customer do about poor cell service - perhaps writing a note if they are that worried asking for an emailed confirmation that the certificate was redeemed, have a pre-printed notice the customer signs stating that they won't try to reprocess or something to that effect.

Great seafood and extensive menu selections!! We were among the first seated for dinner at 6 pm. The restaurant quickly filled most other tables and many had orders taken and food received before us. Only after pointing this out, did our waitress apologize. She then took great pains to diligently wait on our table and, in fact, eliminated the surcharge for the wine which we brought to the restaurant. This is a wonderful seafood establishment and I highly recommend it!!

Made reservation, but acted like we’d just showed up, party of 6. Seated in front of the door...it was freezing. Sea bass came in a soupy mess, chowder very salty, coffee dropped off w no offer of milk & sugar. Really poor service.

Simply put, chaos. Booked 7 p.m. reservation on a Sunday; arrived at 6:55. Total mess, no hostess station, one person running around with a single sheet of paper. When patrons identified themselves as having a reservation, the name was recorded with an "R" next to it and you were told they would "get you in." Total waste of time.

We made an OpenTable reservation and it was not honored. When we arrived, little kids in tow, we were told that OpenTable reservations made within two hours of the meal were not honored. So, why leave those tables marked as available online? We felt very misled. Waited in the freezing rain for almost 45 minutes before we were seated. Then waited a ridiculous amount of time for food. Our server was very nice but we will definitely not be coming back due to the overall lack of service and rude attitude of the hostesses (who, admittedly, were very harassed by all the other diners whose reservations were also not being honored). And we are locals, not tourists in town for just a weekend - will let our friends know about the misleading reservation system and slow service here.

Food took very very very long to come out, clam chowder was luke warm and restaurant was out of bread bowl for early dinner. Waitress offered sourdough bread that never came out. BBQ Oyster and Paella was excellent.

Had a very good dinner on Friday night with my wife. The menu was extensive. We had the jumbo prawns and calamari appetizers then we split a fish special as we were too full to have
an entre each. The food was very good as was our waiter. It was a bit noisy that night as there
was a large work group at a nearby table but it wasn't overly uncomfortable.

The best part of the evening was the cute hostess who stopped by to tell us her life story....
can't remember her name...something Belle.

Have been there before and will continue to go back and would recommend.

We have been to Flaherty's many times but it had been a while since our last visit. Sadly, we did not fee the value was there. None of our meals were noteworthy and there was a mix up on our order. The service was good but we will not hurry back.

Restaurant is divided by a walkway
Both have the same menu. The Oyster Bar
Is very pleasant staff since we were celebrating an anniversary we switched to the Seafood Grille part with tablecloths etc
Seafood was superb with a baked oyster that was unique
Friendly staff.
Highly recommended

We had anticipated sitting in the main dining area, not the bar room. It is so small that we could not sit away from the door. The main entrees were hot, but the rice and vegetables that accompanied them were colder than the room temperature. As our guests were from out of state and had fond memories of Flaherity's , we said nothing to our server. Had we been alone, we would have requested that those parts of our meal be replaced with freshly cooked meals.

Our experience was very disappointing from the start. The table wasn’t set and we ended up with an appetizer before silverware. When we asked for silverware, we were given a fork and knife and a paper napkin. The standard was a linen napkin. A service worker came through a few minutes later with a bucket of wrapped linen silverware. I asked for one and was denied. My husband ordered the Cesar salad with crab. The Cesar was served with an inedible piece of toast, a dressing lacking any flavor and tomatoes on a Cesar...he sent it back. After seeing the poor presentation of the appetizer, tuna and salmon tartare, I kept it simple with a wedge salad and a cup of Manhattan clam chowder. The server did tell me it was the last of the chowder which explains why it only consisted of broth. My son got the lobster bisque which had a very large hunk of the hard as rock bread in the cup. He ended up with about 4 tablespoons of bisque and left the “crouton” on the side. The manager did give us a coupon for 2 free entrees on our next visit. We gave it to an elderly couple outside the restaurant who seemed happy with their meal.

My wife used to visit this place often long ago. It looked good enough, but the service was really pretty slow. We had to be seated on the front patio since we had our dog with us. Food was meh. I am big on seafood, but this place did not do it for me. I might try it again, but it would not be my first choice for an evening meal.
