Flaherty's Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar
We know good seafood, we know how to buy it and we know how to prepare it. Unlike most restaurants (even the best of them) where fish is often a secondary item on the menu...at Flaherty's it's all about seafood.
Here, you will experience a small town, comfortable, family atmosphere, where quality ingredients and quality preparation come together with quality service. We also include gluten free items in our menu to provide all of our customers with the best service possible. It's who we are...come and experience seafood like it was meant to be.
Food just average.
Cold outside if you bring your pup.
Flaherty's impressed from appetizers to desserts. They are extremely accommodating of food allergies and even boast an entire gluten-free menu. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu, but I highly recommend the calamari steak for dinner. It was easily the best I've ever had.
The food was reasonably priced as well without any compromise on the quality. For a table of 3, we had a bottle of wine, two appetizers, three seafood main courses, and dessert for only $160.
The fiod and service were fantastic,!! Will come back.
Fried artichokes and breadsticks were the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the fish was a disappointment. The Local Petrale Sole was bland - even with extra citrus-chive hollandaise added to the white rice and to the fish. The Alaskan Halibut Encrusted with Crab was nothing special (hard to find the crab) and the sauce seemed more like a beef stock than clam stock. The Wild Halibut Encrusted with Cashew Nuts was bland, but at least the mashed potatoes were good. Server forgot to bring the cup of Clam Chowder and, with apologies, later gave us a free cup of the Lobster Bisque - a nice touch on her part. Overall, the fish portions were quite large but none of us really wanted to eat much of our disappointing entrees. Fortunately we started the meal with the tasty fried artichoke appetizer.
We dined there on New Year's Eve. They were busy, but our service was friendly and efficient, and our food was delicious. All the fish was VERY fresh.
We visited twice 2 nights in a row while staying near by in Carmel. The first night was really nice the food was delicious and the staff was kind despite the restaurant being full. The second night I took the same dish the crab pasta, but it just wasn't as good, did not have the tomato s and was needed seasoning. Other than that, had a great experience. And will come back
Food was not of great quality
We used a Groupon for two Bloody Marys and 12 oysters. Both great
We ordered the clam chowder and did not care for it. They replaced with another soup. Very nice server so it was a positive experience.
Drinks and oysters is why we go there. Had become a bit touristy and food wuauhad gone down
The seafood was tasty and fresh, wide variety of cocktails, but I would have liked to have options other than fish as main dishes, but it wadls good nonetheless
30 minute wait after our reservation time
This was not our first visit to Flaherty's. However, it was the first one on Christmas night. Our reservations were at 7:00 and we ended up sitting at the bar, which was fine. However, the restaurant was out of quite a number of items, crab legs, gluten free pizza crust - apparently fish as well as the gluten free fish and chips we ordered had four small pieces of fish - all were mushy and mostly batter. The gluten free fried artichoke was decent, the crab cakes (also gluten free) were not quite up to the quality we've gotten there before. We were very , very dissapointed with our food this visit.
I was so disappointed
Food was not of great quality
I could not believe that chips included the bill
We dined at Flaherty’s on Christmas Day. There was a mob of people with and without reservations on the side walk. Some were making reservations online from their phones. The efficient, organized and friendly host took it all in stride and seated people as tables opened. The servers and bussers were like a well oiled machine in their efficient turning of tables. We started with the wonderful crab and shrimp cakes, and the Brie and garlic and a nice medium priced bottle of wine. For entres we had lobster and gnocchi in a light but rich tomato sauce, and a delicious curried fish dish. We were too full for dessert and I finished my gnocchi for lunch today. We’ve enjoyed Flaherty’s for drinks and raw bar on many occasions, and they’re consistently good with terrific service. Thanks and Happy New Year!!
One of the few restaurants open in Carmel Christmas night. It was way beyond hectic, with 15+ people waiting out in the cold for a table. Staff did an admirable job considering the circumstances they were working under.
We enjoyed dinner on Christmas Eve. We were promptly seated. All our dinners were very good. My husband left his credit card at the table which we did not realize until late the next day which was Christmas. We stopped by on 12/26 just prior to opening and they immediately knew why we were there! Our credit card was quickly returned. Very honest folks! We will definitely return!
Very impressed. Good food, great wine, wide selection, wonderful service. Space is a little cramped but will definitely return.
Overall it was good. I glad the seafood cobb salad which was good. My husband ordered the clam chowder bread bowl and didn't care for it. He had clam chowder a few days before at a restaurant on Cannery Row and it was much better he said-a lot more creamy and he expected that again. The service was good. We had to sit outside since we had dogs so the ambience was different than being in the restaurant.
Great service, nice selection of seafood. We hadn’t been in for awhile, forgot how much we had always enjoyed it.
We were in town for a couple of days to enjoy the Christmas season, was just a nice addition to our trip. Cheers
The restaurant fine dining side is pleasant enough and the food is standard chowder house level but there is nothing special here and percentage wise there is a lot of fried food. The award winning Lobster Bisque was the wrong call. It is puréed tomato artichoke and cheese which makes it taste more like canned cream of tomato soup. Stick with the traditional dishes.
Too bad....this used to be a great place to dine. Unfortunately, lackluster service matched by mediocre food tends to quickly change one's past perceptions. Others in town now do a much better job....and probably don't place the tab on the table half-way through your lunch.
Food was good but not special. Service was attentive but again, not special. We ate there on a Sunday evening and there were hardly any customers so maybe we gained a false impression due to the total lack of atmosphere.
This was a small family gathering - a moment away from the huge extended family .
Friday after Thanksgiving is always a busy day..they were busy.......service was slow, and the food wasn't all
hot or quite as ordered. But, we have been here before and loved it - and we will go again!
Jarrrod is the best and jenny is excellent too! The oysters are huge and tasth as well.
Been here once before (last Christmas Eve). Food and service were excellent at that time and was very good this time. Fish and Chips were very good. We ate in the Grill area this time, so we could watch basketball on TV.
The seafood was very nice and presented well, the restaurant is a little basic but clean and we were in and out within an hour.
Everyone is so friendly and very helpful in accommodating my dietary needs in the meal selection and preparation. The meals were excellent considering adding no salt. Thanks!!
This was an excellent find!! The service was fantastic, very knowledgeable about menu, and overall very personable which made the experience very enjoyable
Next time we visit Carmel, definitely plan on heading back
A welcoming neighbourhood place.
We ate lightly--An excellent lobster bisque & crabmeat brioche.
I had a brie w chutney-good.
Keylime pie was good & generous--but very sweet.
Good service--lots of locals.
Fresh fish dinner was excellent! My husband has the fresh oysters for appetizer and he said they were delicious. Seared Ahi appetizer was outstanding. Flaherty’s has been consistently good over the years and I would recommend this long-standing Carmel restaurant.
Amazing gluten free options!! The calamari was delicious and the scallops where so fresh and cooked perfectly.
Excellent fresh seafood
We sat in the “overflow” part. No atmosphere to speak of. Had the seafood risotto ...good but overpriced.
4 of us were sharing our 25-year wedding anniversary. The food was delicious and our server (Sandra) was fabulous. She gave great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about ingredients and prep. One of us has celiac and almost everything on the menu is gluten free or could be. They even have GF focaccia bread! Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Years ago I met the owner one afternoon and complained that I could not get paella during a recent lunch I had with my sisters. He gave me his card and said it will be available to me anytime. Just give him a call if I have any problem. I have not had a problem since and I get it every time. Great place for everything and well done.
This year the restaurant was not as good as our previous visit. Some of the staff we encountered were not as professional as years past, and the restaurant is looking shabby. The food was very good and the service was as expected.
I had the seafood Curry.....absolutely to die for! Amazing flavors and what a great treat while on vacation!m I split hot with a friend and we both had individuals salads....absolutely perfect without gorging!
Waitress was exceptional to dietary needs and remembering the details of it
