Flaherty's Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar
We know good seafood, we know how to buy it and we know how to prepare it. Unlike most restaurants (even the best of them) where fish is often a secondary item on the menu...at Flaherty's it's all about seafood.
Here, you will experience a small town, comfortable, family atmosphere, where quality ingredients and quality preparation come together with quality service. We also include gluten free items in our menu to provide all of our customers with the best service possible. It's who we are...come and experience seafood like it was meant to be.
Nice and quaint. Was unaware they closed @ 8:30 PM however they served me a quick
Dinner.
Loved the Blue Point Oysters and Lobster Bisque ‼️
Everything is great!! We will be back!!
The food was great I would personally recommend the lobster bisque and the spicy tuna bowl. I would also suggest going there during the weekday because there is so many people on the weekend and bring something warm.
Fresh oysters, fish & chips, lobster ravioli all were outstanding. Sat outside in the breezeway and it was comfortable and socially distanced. Service was friendly. Made for a great evening!
No wait for our table outside. Although there was a heater, it was still a little cool. Yummy bread served immediately. Since it was chili, I ordered cioppino which was served piping hot. My husband ordered the seared ahi tuna and was very pleased. I’m used to getting garlic toast with my cioppino and it was not included here. I ordered additional bread and was given too much. Felt bad about wasting. Service was good. Would not recommend the fried artichoke. The only negative for the evening was leaving my credit card by mistake and was told it had not been turned in when we called.
Great food and delighted they still offered the key lime pie for dessert.
Best meal we had on our 3 day trip. Everything delicious.
The oysters were fresh and delicious and The service was very friendly.
Was served fish that tasted like mold. We were given silverware that had entire chunks of food stuck to them, 4 out of 6 to be exact. When the manager came out to talk to us about it he said they had an issue with the dishwasher machine and it had since been fixed. This made no sense. When we asked how the dirty silverware was then wrapped in a napkin by an employee without them noticing he said that Covid had hit them hard and they were understaffed. If they could not keep the restaurant staffed enough to provide a clean and safe dining experience then they shouldn't be open for business.
Great clam chowder, excellent in all areas of the menu, this place is tops.
We went and sat inside which was a little crowded based on Covid. Overall the food was good, did not really care for their clam chowder, but the other food was good. some in our party got the sea food chopino which they really liked. My grand daughter loved it, although she is only 3 years old.
Delicious food! Due to the pandemic, we were eating in an alleyway and the staff was a bit overtaxed, so I gave 3 stars for the service. For the same reason, the ambient noise was noticeable, so I gave 3 stars and Moderate for the noise level. Will go back the next time we are in Carmel!
There was no point in making a reservation. When we arrived, the only available place to eat was in the alleyway, next to a heating vent and a cart of dirty dishes. Needless to say, we left and had a fabulous dinner at Flying Fish Grill.
The food was, cold, could not get anyone attention to send it back. No flavor at ALL!
My husband ordered a Bailey's Coffee shown on their board with whipped cream. Our server brought it plain and when he asked for it she said, in an annoyed tone, 'we're out of whipped cream, I can go across the street and get it for you" she did and brought maybe a teaspoonful in a plastic cup. Should have not offered if she didn't want to or should've said they are out. Bloody Mary dissapointing, only drank a few sips. Lobster bisque was great if you like tomato soup, tasted just like tomato soup - not a true bisque, served with a small bite of lobster in the center. Personally I love tomato soup so I enjoyed its creamy goodness but my guys would have preferred a true bisque, as this is a seafood restaurant and why we chose it. Bbq'd Oysters were good but teeny tiny and they were delicious however they served just 5. Should have been at least 6 for that small of an oyster IMO. Seafood Cobb salad ok but small. Wedge salad ok. Steamed clams good. Friendly greeter, accommodated our seating preference in the alley as it was a very cold windy day. No problem getting a table on Easter Sunday. Generous with bread. Clearing staff more friendly and helpful than Angela, our server. Maybe she was having a bad day.
Great food in the heart of Carmel-by-the-sea. Will go back again.
Amazing food & service!
We were seated promptly and there was plenty of space for our party of five and social distancing. Drinks, appetizers and food were fabulous. The staff took great care of our family.
Went with big family and had a great visit. Perfect place for kids, mix of folks or whoever.
The food was awful. I ordered the crab sandwich it was over salted and had some cheap, gummy yellow cheese on it that was advertised as cheddar. My husband had sand dabs. Very mediocre. Could not eat our meals - they were that bad
We have a lovely dining experience. The food was good, but not awesome. The park let setting was wonderful. Plenty if heat lamps (although was unusually warm). The service staff is wonderful.
Paella lacking in aroma; had lots of seafood but none stood out in flavor. Sausage lacked punch. Staff was overwhelmed but tried very hard to make things right. I really appreciate their effort. I think the problem might just have been the result of recent re-opening after a year of the pandemic.
The Flaherty Team is doing a great job adapting to COVID regulations and making the customers feel safe while eating out.
Oysters always taste fresh and the salmon pasta is delicious! Staff is very courteous and responsive to our needs. Will keep coming back for sure
Chowder was a little too thick and clumpy & the lobster bisque a little too sweet for my liking, but the seafood Louie and crab was absolutely awesome! We let them know it was our 30th anniversary and got 0 response, which was a little disappointing. Service was great.
This place was amazing! We were visiting from out of town but it definitely was authentic seafood. They’re done a really good job making accommodations for the covid situation with outdoor dining with heaters. Would highly recommend!
From the time we arrived it was a manic atmosphere- everyone was TOO busy and it was not pleasant. Fish tacos were good. Lobster BLT was bland.
Our server was very pleasant and did not act so frazzled.
Food was good. Heater went out, it was pretty chilly but we had to ask for the heater to be turned on. Two cocktails were awful, when we asked for them to be remade they acquiesced however it was really awkward. We felt terribly self conscious to be “ that picky” table which is a shame since they served the drinks to the wrong people who then tasted a drink that wasn’t theirs and due to being careful with the current Health environment didn’t want to drink a cocktail someone else had already tasted. Once remade the drinks were perfectly fine.
We didn’t get seated right away even though we had reservations but that is to be expected right now during Covid. The food was definitely worth the wait. If you’re into oysters, don’t leave without getting a dozen!
We’ve been going there for 25+ years and even have been there for covid experience but this was so disappointing, both of our dinners were horrible weird sour taste our waitress Never even checked on us once! The food was rushed out as if they were in a hurry to get you in and out yet they never came over and asked us if we needed anything etc... I had to catch a different waitress and busser, we are so sad as this was one of our must go too when we visit Carmel!!!!! Drinks were severely overpriced and weak at that ( never like this before) I had to ask host for our bill, we had to go and find a pizza late which can be difficult to do in Carmel !
It’s outdoor dinning with heater. We enjoyed very much.
Young staff cannot handle the load- we came at reserved time but had to wait 40 minutes
Wonderful experience...sat in front of the restaurant under a heater. The food was delicious and it never disappoints.
Best Bloody Mary’s ever. We will return next time we are in Carmel!
Food is always delicious. Service was great.
Dined outdoors during COVID restrictions but were comfortable with spacing and space heaters. Service and food were excellent, have dined here before and everything is still being done very nicely!
It’s great to see anyplace crowded, but we were seated in a corner by the bathroom entrance and kitchen entrance. We waited 20 minutes for someone to come acknowledge us. The food was below average and we waited for refills for ages. Wouldn’t go back, guessing it’s just a heavy tourist spot.
My girlfriend and I were in carmel for my birthday, and we made a reservation to this restaurant because we saw it on the open table app. Our reservation was for 5:15, but we got there right around 5:00 pm, when we notified the hostess, she said "oh no worries, I can sit you now." I was surprised that she could do that. We sat and it took around 3- 5 minutes for someone to give us bread, we didn't get any water or anything right away, they dropped us off just bread and it was the bus boy or food runner, no idea; anyways, the waitress showed up like some time later, she was just like are you ready to order folks? We ordered but it felt as if she was in a rush to just take our order. She didn't ask if we would like to order anything or apologized for the wait. She takes the order and or empty bread basket was still there. She came back with our drinks, which was just coffee and water, but still felt like she was rushing. A few minutes go by and we noticed a table sit next to us, same waitress goes up to the table greets them nicely and ask if they needed a drink or something, me and the girlfriend were confused as how she was nice but with us she was the opposite.
Half way through our meals, waitress shows up with the check, mind you she didn't ask if we needed anything else, or if we were ok with our meals. My girlfriend was upset at this point, but we were not going to let a bad service and an ok meal ruin my birthday. I was not looking forward to them singing me happy birthday or anything, but it was a bit shocking at how service changed. I still tipped decently because I used to work in carmel and it is also hard time; however, I think next time I rather choose another place, and keep this as a worst case measure
Server name, or at least what the ticket said Angela
Food was great as always. But it was cold, and eating outside is a challenge. Plus, mask required even walking around in Carmel and even on the beach. Way over the top! Will be back when the ridiculous lock down is over. Not Flaherty's fault, doing the best they can in current situation.
Great seafood restaurant. Fresh oysters were bomb so are the drinks. Highly recommend this spot
