The service and decor were fantastic, but the food left quite a lot to be desired. It was bland and tasteless. We had a 300.00 tab and left a lot of the food uneaten.
Everything was great!
Creative menu with attentive staff. Fantastic Old Fashions and Sangria. The best biscuits I have ever had!
Our server, Mary, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive but not obtrusive. We had a wonderful dinner experience catching up with an old friend.
Server was nice but not very attentive. Food not really worth the price. Great ambiance tho. Wouldn't go back. Ended up going to 6th and eating pizza.
Our dinner was excellent. The biscuits to begin are essential -- delicious! The shrimp toast, an appetizer, not so much. We ordered the blackened red snapper, which arrived in a tasty broth. Spicy good, but not overwhelmingly so. We totally enjoyed the snapper. We ordered sides of the sweet potatoes and charred broccoli. The sweet potatoes were nearly addictive, but the broccoli was difficult to cut, even with the steak knife provided. Too tough for me. Dessert was blackberry cobbler, which was fabulous. Service was quite good and attentive, and we never waited long for more drinks or the next course. Our main criticism was the noise level, which we found intense. We had to yell to hear each other much of the time, but that seems to be the ambience du jour in Austin. Other than that, the restaurant is comfortable and attractive, and it offers valet parking ($10.00), which is almost a necessity in downtown Austin. We will definitely return.
Great food, service, and atmosphere! We’ll definitely be back again.
First time to try this restaurant and we were very pleased that we did.
Everything we had was absolutely amazing...from the drinks to the worlds best biscuits to the Lobster Pot Pie. We have nothing negative to say about our experience!
Will definitely be back in the very near future.
The biscuits were fantastic. The eggs benedict were disappointing.
I have quite a few food allergies. Our server was very accommodating. He asked lots of questions and spoke with the chef to ensure I would have a meal I could safely enjoy. and ENJOY I did! My meal was phenomenal and my dining companions would say the same. Highly recommended
Great food, amazing atmosphere and superb service. Mary was our server and she was soooo good. The best beef tartare and biscuits.
The service is spectacular. They had a great table set up for us and greeted us with champagne (my wife and I just got married). The waiters are very knowledgable. They take the time to answer questions. I received an in depth explanation about how the dry aging vs wet aging process differ. Cocktails and food is off the charts. I definitely recommend going at least once, and taking the time to explore the dinner menu and have a few cocktails.
Inside dining room full of ROT wives getting way too drunk and way too loud. Moved to outside patio and enjoyed great southern comfort foods.
Over priced for the quality and value of the food. It’s not a 4 star restaurant in my opinion.
We ordered the biscuits and deviled egg appetizers. Excellent. I had the Halibut and the others had Lobster Pot Pie. Excellent again. The only problem we had was with dessert. My friends ordered a blackberry cobbler and I had the buttermilk pie. My friends took one bite of their cobbler and nearly spit it out. They said it tasted like dish soap or some other type of cleaning product had contaminated the food. It came in a small cast iron pan and they speculated it was not cleaned properly. We conveyed this to our server and she took it away. She took it off of our bill but she never gave any explanation. I don't know if she told anyone in management but no one came to our table to apologize or offer explanation. Service was excellent except for this lapse in taking responsibility.
The crust on my buttermilk pie was very hard and tough, almost like cardboard. The pie filling was good though. After the fact we were wishing we had just ordered a second round of biscuits for dessert. I hope the dessert issues were an isolated incident since the rest of the meal was excellent.
Food was pretty good. Pork was a little over cooked and the buttermilk pie was bland, but overall pretty good. The biscuit was the best part of the whole meal.
Don’t even think for a second that you can take someone with social anxiety here though. You are raising your voice just to have a conversation with the person in front of you.
We loved it! Biscuits were amazing and so was the pot pie. Catfish appetizer was just okay but the drinks were great! We will be back!
Food was very impressive and everyone thoroughly enjoyed! The biscuits are a must and very memorable.
Have been to Fixe many times both personally and with large business groups. Loved Fixe for a while, but things seem to be slipping quite a bit. The food is truly unique and used to be spectacular, but quality and consistency have dropped. Not sure if there has been a change in kitchen staff or what, but what used to be a reliably amazing culinary experience has been much more random and disappointing lately. Service level has declined even more. I was hosting a business group, and I was actually embarrassed by the experience. Forgotten items, incorrect items, awkward interruptions, very slow delivery, etc. Unfortunately, I think it is time for me to move on from Fixe. This will be my last visit.
The restaurant was nice - a little overpriced both food and wine but the service was very good. A little annoyed that the only green thing on the menu (besides a small salad) was broccolini and they were out already at 8pm. DO NOT VALET! Really put us off before we even got into the restaurant which, sadly, colored our view of the whole experience. $9 - (more than we had seen downtown), valet said "just pay me and you can have the key back" - ummm why are we using a valet? Then he parked our car illegally and when we left the restaurant couldn't even bother to get out of his chair to bring us our key.
Awesome atmosphere even better food
Our last night in Austin..... We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The food was delicious, the presentation was wonderful and there were a lot of choices to pick from. We started off with the biscuits and the blueberry compote; yummy. I ordered the lobster/crawfish pot pie, one of the best pot pies ever! My husband ordered the rib eye and he enjoyed it with the accompanying fondue sauce! The charred broccoli with lemon was great. We were celebrating our anniversary and our waiter Kevin brought us each a glass of champagne to celebrate. Kevin recommended the brioche doughnut. Best doughnut ever! The doughnut was set on a small amount of custard, plus a scoop of peach sorbet and some spiced nuts on the side. Kevin helped us order the right items by explaining the ingredients and knowing what we liked. The owner came by and thanked us for coming to his restaurant and wished us a happy anniversary and safe travels. Everyone was very attentive. The evening was beyond our expectations! We just wish we had gone sooner so we could have eaten here again.
Our friends suggested this spot for a good southern food experience in Austin, and boy were they right! Food and service were great. The biscuits were fantastic, but the duck was even better.
Don't miss this place if you are in Austin. Stop by for Happy Hour too. Crab fingers were delicious.
Delicious and indulgent. We love going to Fixe every chance we get
We visited Fixe for the 3rd time. This time for Sunday Brunch and it was exceptional as always!! The quail and grits was by far one of my favorite dishes I have had so far anywhere in Austin. The blacked red snapper was also phenomenal. Great for any occasion. You can't go wrong here!
The biscuits. Those hot damn biscuits have me craving a return. Soon.
Had a celebratory dinner there for a very special occasion that was just fabulous and will definitely be back. For those biscuits and more.
The fried chicken was awful way overcooked boneless chicken. Steak was ok but not worth the $48 they charge.
Fixe is one of our favorite restaurants. The biscuits are to die for (everyone should try them at least once). The fried catfish appetizer is excellent also. We have never had anything we didn't just love.
Management was very accommodating when we had to add people to our reservation and the food is amazing! Loved this place, the service and the ambience!
The appetizers were the best part! Our server was fantastic but the main dishes were just okay
We received superb service and had our own special room that was a little quieter for a graduation celebration. It was all such good food and very personable staff.
We came here based on the reviews and the cuisine. My first impression was it is in a good location. Kind of cool decor with a chicken coop type wall structures. But as soon as I ordered a deep eddy and soda and was charged $12, my impression changed at least at the bar while waiting for our table. Way overpriced for the drinks based on the venue and being in Austin.
Interesting food choices. The blacke ed catfish was pretty good, the biscuits were great even though we joked about the charge of $1 per biscuit, my grandmother would have whipped me with a switch for paying that much.
I was anxious to try the fried chicken but again, really...only 5oz, I was hungry so I split the 32oz tomahawk ribeye with one of the guys. The meat was cooked perfectly, the mushrooms that came with it was not tasty at all, it was more of a stalk of mushrooms.
I also order the charred broccoli which wasnt great. One other dish had to be sent back because is was charred too much, they were nice about it and brought him a duck plate I stead that was okay, just bland.
Cool place but extremely overpriced for what they deliver. The exotic southern food choices were not great
Family get together
We had a very nice server. The bar was very backed up and the restaurant was loud for conversation especially with grandparents.
Rock solid! Appetizers were fantastic! Oyster fried rice out of this world! Louisiana chef! Biscuits mmmmm
Had a business dinner for 12 people, and could not have been happier. They gave us a choice of table locations (private or main room), provided excellent and attentive service, made good recommendations, and served excellent, good-looking food. Not the cheapest spot, but great quality without being stuffy.
Excellent food. The red snapper was amazing. Service was slow and the restaurant was loud. But the food was worth it.
I’ve been here several times now, and each time is fantastic. The biscuits are an absolute must eat.
