All of our meals were over cooked. I had steak, my husband a pork chop (special), and my daughter fried chicken. We were given a $20 voucher which would maybe buy a drink in this place. I was extremely disappointed. I had eaten there before and LOVED it, but this time was awful!
Fixe always does it right.
Really Unique and amazing food, must get the “biscuits”
Service is always good here, the biscuits and other apps never fail to disappoint. Good whiskey and wine list. Any fish dish I’ve had here has been great-but was disappointed in the lobster pot pie. Not very flavorful, and mostly crawfish.
The food was good but not great. I thought it was a little crazy for a "Southern" restaurant to serve fried chicken without a biscuit and if you want a biscuit it is an additional $3. The serving size of the friend chicken was small in addition. The biscuits we paid for were good but the idea of 5 biscuits for $15 is a little absurd, maybe an initial biscuit per person at the table should be complimentary and then additional biscuits I could understand paying for. To add insult to injury they charged another $3 for jam to go with your biscuit.
Great food and ambiance. Unfortunately, most things we ordered , our server had returned back to let us know they ran out of. The manager graciously apologized and significantly reduced our bill. Very nice gesture. I believe this was due to large crowds during SXSW, as previous experiences there were outstanding!
Wonderful meal, the biscuits were to die for. The cocktails were great. Was a little disappointed in the carrot cake and the deviled eggs were good not great, but the lobster and crawfish pot pie was fabulous.
Fantastic service. Insanely good biscuits. For those of you who have actually been to NOLA and gone to Willa Jeans for biscuits - I’ll just say that this puts them on notice.
Our experience was phenomenal! I went for my birthday (and it was SXSW weekend), so the vibes were lively and energetic. Our server Tammy was incredible and made our experience so enjoyable and personable. Would recommend Fixe to anyone--loved it!
Biscuits were great although a bit expensive at $9 for just three. I ordered the pork chop as medium and it came out well done with tough versus tender texture. Waiter had it remade and it was 80% cook led properly and 20% undercooked to the point of not being edible. At $45 it was way overpriced and underwhelming. At that price it should be perfect the first time.
I was originally going to order the fried chicken, however when I saw the small potion being served to others I opted for the chop. To top things off they double charged me for the chop, probably mistake due to the return.
I found the environment quint, but very noisy and difficult to have a conversation.
The waiter was very friend, however he couldn’t overcome the rest of the experience. I likely will not return.
My favorite restaurant in Austin - it's great for business meetings and giving the out-of-town guest a special Austin experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Fixe - great service and great food. Beautiful interior. Only complaint was that our entrees were brought out before we finished our appetizers which seems could have easily been avoided - when we were there it was not very busy. As other reviews have mentioned, it is loud as it fills up. If you want a little quieter ask which tables are best.
The food was okay. Some of it was not good, other was just fine. Nothing was amazing. The beetarita was delish though. The worst is that we were a party of 5 and they sat us in-between two other large parties under what looked like a pergola, so we all had to shout to talk. That coupled with the average food made for a mediocre night at best. I wouldn’t go again, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Fixe was a fabulous choice. I was in Austin for a conference and in charge of a business dinner for 10+ people. Fixe accommodated to a last-minute reservation change, had a lovely and knowledgeable staff, had delicious food and superb service. The aesthetic of the restaurant is great too! I enjoyed every bite of food and sip of wine. I will be back when I'm in the area. I would recommend this restaurants for groups, or intimate date nights. So good.
Awesome waitress, she was very knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations and helped us pick appropriate sides for our party. She was from Louisiana and had great stories to share. She knew her stuff. Food was awesome. I got the snapper (delicious!!!), husband got the seafood pot pie which he was nervous it was be overly creamy and seasfoody but it was fresh and he said he would get it again. My friend who came to visit got the friend chicken and loved it. We also got some biscuits so share, so warm and fresh. We ordered broccoli and grits. Nothing special about the broccoli, but the grits were fabulous. Ordered the chocolate cake with salted Carmel ice cream. It was rich, only needed a few bites and I was good. Worth trying, but prob wouldn’t order it again.
This was a great restaurant for our date night! Kevin was our server, and he was amazing. The biscuits were 100% the best we have ever had. We loved the smoked trout dip, and the walnut Manhattan cocktail was so flavorful. While I enjoyed the fried chicken and sweet potatoes, my boyfriend LOVED the aged rib eye. I loved the ambiance, and the staff was all friendly and welcoming. We had no trouble finding parking downtown on a Saturday night, and will absolutely be back again for my birthday dinner on March 16th!
Fixe was delicious as usual. Staff was incredibly attentive and made my birthday quite special.
My second time at Fixe and they have both been stellar. I really enjoyed the bone-in-filet (an off menu item) and I had some of my wife's fish and it was spectacular. You have to try the biscuits.
My experience was amazing we went there for a bachelorette party and they had us seated in a private room that set the mood! Great food and amazing drinks and attentive staff!
Having made a reservation, I was a bit disappointed to arrive to be told our table wasn’t ready and when asking about the wait time was told they couldn’t give me one. Therefore we sat down to have a drink at the bar and although our drinks hadn’t arrived were then moved to our table however, rather than transferring our drinks to the table I was told I should wait at the bar until my drinks have arrived and then take them over to my table.
I think our waitress was stretched in terms of the amount of tables she had to wait on and therefore I cannot put anything down to the level of service when we were waited on but more the management.
Nevertheless the food was great and this place has a very cool vibe it’s just a shame poor management means we were a bit disappointed with the experience.
We had a group of 10 dining at Fixe and decided to upgrade to a private room, which was a great decision. The restaurant was exceptionally busy when we arrived, with a line out the door. The ability to close the doors once we were at our table was a fantastic feature as the restaurant was quite loud.
The server assigned to us was wonderful and quite knowledgeable, however, it was clear that he was unprepared for the volume that evening. He was working his tail off and I really feel that he would have benefited from having an assistant available- even just someone to pour waters and take drink orders. The ordering process was a bit drawn out, drinks took a long time to come to the table, and what should have been a 2-2.5 hour experience turned into 3.5 hours.
The food itself was great. The biscuits and the deviled eggs were a huge hit! And while I didn't personally try it, guests raved about the oyster fried rice. Another special touch that the server helped with was a bottle of champagne that was preordered by a friend who couldn't make it that evening. It was waiting in our room, chilling, and was immediately acknowledged and poured for the table.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to future visitors.
GO. FOR. THE. BISCUITS. Oh, and there is also other delicious food too.
We had their signature biscuits, which were fresh and good.
Beets were good as a starter.
Halibut and red snapper were done just right, with flavorful additions.
The only thing it lacked for us was any kind of ambiance.
That is a matter of taste but it is important to us at that price level.
What a great experience! Fantastic food, ambience and impeccable service. I’d highly suggest the deviled eggs (go ahead and order a couple of orders) and the shrimp and crab toast (again, go ahead and order a couple of orders) for appetizers, the lobster and crawfish pot pie or the duck breast for an entree! 5 star experience.
We had an excellent time with a couple of friends in from out of town. The food was fantastic, although they got the wrong item out to my wife initially, but they were very responsive and got her mean out as quickly as possible.
This is great food, but not inexpensive. With several options under $30, you don't have to go broke, but there are several pricier entrees from $40-$85 as well.
My dad’s 75th Bday. He and my mom loved it. The biscuits were a fave and I loved the fresh brewed tea. Great touch!!
Very nice atmosphere, though it became loud towards the end of our dinner. Very good service. The biscuit and shrimp appetizers were fabulous. The lobster pot pie was very good, but we would not get it again. Blackened snapper was tasty, but didn’t have too much flavor (all in the sauce). Limited wine selection. Overall, I’m glad we went, but have many other places to try.
Great but very loud. Hard for a business meal.
Excellent food and service. Great decor. Fun place to eat.
Had a great dinner at Fixe while visiting Austin on our babymoon. Our concierge at the Driskill Hotel recommended Fixe to us and boy are we glad! The food is probably best described as "upscale southern classics with a twist." We ordered the biscuits at the recommendation of our server to start and they were incredible and paired with 3 different spreads. We ordered red snapper and the lobster/crawfish pot pie for our main dishes with a side of the vegetarian grits. For dessert we had the tres leches carrot cake with goat ice cream. Overall, an amazing meal and I'd highly recommend dining here to anyone visiting Austin and looking for a special meal.
The food is delicious [the biscuits!!], the service excellent, and the room itself is very pleasant. The decor is a fun mix of casual and formal, but the noise level is way too high. We were there on a Monday evening and the place was only half-full, but still it was difficult to carry on a conversation in our group of five people.
Went for anniversary. Food was amazing and service was great! Menu is a little pricy but worth the money in my opinion. Ordered fried chicken, crab and lobster pot pie, and crispy catfish. Nice twist on southern classics. Totally recommend trying it out. Definitely worth the time.
Great service and very good food! We had a fantastic experience!
Well at 1pm for Sunday Brunch, we were going to order French Toast and they were out of it, we’re going to order Benedict and they were out of it, we’re going to order Bacon side and they were out of it.
I’ve owned a restaurant before and we’ve certainly had to 86 an occasional item... but they seem ill-prepared considering everything they were out of mid way through Brunch service.
And so we preordered their biscuits (which were freakin amazing) because they said it took time, then ordered later two other apps and an entree to share... and they ALL came to the table within 2 minutes of each other.
Friendly staff. Beautiful restaurant. Decent food. Poorly managed kitchen at delivering everything at once and running out of way too many things.
Far too many brunch choices in Austin or best dinner places that it’s okay to cross this place off the list.
I will never go back to Fixe. The service was terrible. Our server looked and acted like she couldn’t be bothered with us. She was incredibly annoyed when we asked for simple requests like more creamer for our coffee when the creamer that arrived was 1/4 full. It took 20 mins for our friends coffee to come to the table. To add insult to injury, our refill coffee was done before our friends original order arrived. Our biscuits came about 45 mins after we ordered and food about 15-20 mins later. The restaurant was not even 50% full. Our bill was over $100 for 5 lunch meals and the food was less than subpar. The fried chicken sandwich should have just been called fried breading sandwich because the chicken was incredibly thin. The other food that was ordered was equally disappointing. I can now see why this restaurant was only 50% full during Sunday brunch time.
Service is always extremely mediocre at best. I’ve never left saying, “we had great service there.” The food and atmosphere is always good so we keep going!
Fixe is always a good time. They will go above and beyond for any of your special occasions and always have the best menu, cocktails and wine list. This is THE spot to go to for a special occasion!
Jovan was a GREAT wiater and I would recommend asking for him!
