Our waiter was amazing! The fried chicken was a little tough, but everything else was delicious.
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The steak was cold and tough and overly priced. The service was very good though. My granddaughters liked the fried chicken.
Marvelous all around.
I was a little disappointed by the wait. We had a reservation and we reached on time. And the wait was over 30 min. They kept asking us to go the bar but the bar was too crowded.
Way too loud.
The food and service were amazing. The modern take of Louisiana cooking was delicious. I would gladly return. Kevin and Nick provided exceptional service.
I know everyone says the biscuits are good but i could skip those and eat an ENTIRE loaf of the focaccia that comes with the DELICIOUS pimento cheese appetizer. I already want to go back just for that. Also their happy hour is a great deal, you can get a reasonably priced bottle of wine and some appetizers (pimento cheese) and not break the bank. Great food great vibes.
We were very impressed with the staff and the creative menu. Chef Robert and his team made our night memorable and delicious!
We went to Fixe for a date night. The food was great in the service was attentive. Highly recommend the biscuits and the Lobster Pot Pie.
Fantastic, fun, delicious! Excellent service and cozy, sparkling ambiance. The noise level is pretty high- that’s my only complaint. You can hear the people directly across and next to you, but it’s hard to hear those farther away. Overall, Fixe is a special night out.
Food was horrible. The only good item was the biscuits and they were $9 for 2. Totally overpriced, small portion and bad flavor food.
We ate in the bar at a booth. The restaurant was really cold. It was also very dark - I like a restaurant to be dark but this was unusual. My companion ordered the happy hour hamburger and french fries. The hamburger was cold and the bun was old. The french fries were ice cold. I ordered a Manhattan - it was quite nice - served in the wrong glass (not that big of a deal) and there was about 4 tablespoons (maybe) of drink in the glass.. I ordered the chicken - two pieces - I had about two bites - greasy and not much taste. The oyster fried rice was ok but again - the food was cold. The pear tart was delicious. The chocolate grenache cake came out cold. I didn't ask if it was supposed to be that way - by this time I wanted to get my bill, pay and leave. It was my first and last visit. I will say there was quite a crowd there - it seems to be very popular.
Enjoyed a fun family lunch - the atmosphere was relaxing and the service was outstanding.
Fixe is one of our Family Favs! Our waiter this trip was Nick who was awesome on his wine recommendation and service in general. We will go back....soon!
We went for my husband’s birthday with the family. The food was delicious, the service exceptional. We had one of the private rooms which was fantastic for conversation and opening presents.
Excellent service, incredible food, and a beautiful space. A gem!
Fixe went above and beyond for my friends birthday dinner. They were amazing
One of the best meals I have ever had. Everything about this place was amazing. The decor, service and food. If back in Austin will definitely come again!
Great service and great food! Highly recommend!
Made reservation stating Anniversary celebration. No one acknowledged that.
One guest ordered a medium rib eye....it was more medium well. Very noisy. Food was good, but nothing so special to make me want to go back.
Very good food and great selection of bourbons. Took a bit longer than planned due to somewhat loaded server.
Went here for our 26th anniversary. We arrived a few minutes early for a 6:30 reservation. The bar was busy with happy hour traffic and we were seated promptly and were one of 3 table dining at this 6:30 timeframe. The place filled up over the next few hours with some larger tables. It was moderately loud but to me added to the atmosphere with everyone chatting having a good time.
The food was very good - The shrimp and oyster gumbo was excellent. They had run out of the smoked trout appetizer (so that must have been really good) my wife ordered and nothing else sparked her interest. My wife had the snapper and I had the heritage pork chop ($45) - a bit pricy for a pork chop in a non-steakhouse environment and was not of equal quality - it was good but not $45 really good! My wife enjoyed her meal. Sides of broccoli and sweet potatoes were very good. 2 glasses of wine and 2 dirty martinis - $200 later we were on our way. You can dine here for less but we were celebrating!
The service was a 7 - nice waitress - did an awful job of clearing. She had 4 chances to remove left over silverware, bread plate and empty wine glass but each time went back to the kitchen empty handed. This is a basic fundamental of service that had it been done would have overall improved the experience. Water glasses went empty for to long. She did ask when we were seated if we were celebrating something. When desert was served it came with two (1/2) glasses of courtesy champagne.
It worth trying if you have never been and we had a very nice experience for the most part but with so many other options this will not be a soon to repeat.
Sunday dinner was fantastic. Biscuits were amazing as always, and we had a great table by the kitchen. Service was unobtrusive, but slightly slow on drinks. Accuracy was 100% however. Save room for dessert.
3rd time at Fixe and very pleased. We were dining casually over a long period of time with some friends. Our server didn’t really know how to handle our pace. Seemed to make her nervous. Other than , all good!
This was my 2nd time dining at Fixe. My son lives in Austin and we came here in 2017 on my first visit. My only request this visit was that we go back to Fixe! The manager, Jack, greeted us at the bar and made us feel so welcome. The dinner was perfect! First of all, those biscuits!!!! There are no words to describe their flaky, buttery, amazing biscuits - just order them. Everything here is prepared to perfection. I ordered the blackened red snapper which was delicious and perfectly charred. The grits was my favorite side - we ordered the carnivore, but the last time we had the herbivore which was great too. As we were contemplating dessert, the pecan pie and chocolate truffle cake just appeared at our table! Jack sent them by way of apology for our having to wait a bit for our table. I highly recommend Fixe and the next time I visit we will definitely be dining here!
Dinner with friends. Nice restaurant lovely food.
Our table service was outstanding but we had to wait 45 minutes after our reservation time... and we arrived 15 minutes early so we were very disappointed with management and the host service.
Nice ambiance and good happy hour selection of great wines. Service was very good, but kitchen was a little slow, they comped us a beet salad. will definitely be back and bring our friends!
This is my second visit to Fixe one visit was for an early business dinner and this was for a later dinner. Both experiences were amazing and food was delicious.
Food was delicious-- those biscuits are something else! We really enjoyed our dinner!
Some items on menu not available.
Amazing, as always! Thanks!
Food was great, service was good on a very busy night.
A very busy night, apparently after a “Longhorns” game. Sigh. The place was packed with folks. However, the staff took incredible care of our party of 8. We didn’t seem to be part of the overall vibe that night, but nonetheless were made to feel incredibly welcome. A place that can balance such things merits high praise.
I brought my college-age son here for his all too brief visits home. He only visits once or twice a year from school so it was a special occasion. I love the ambiance and decor of this place. It is like a cross between an old southern home and the barn out back. Cozy nooks and well-placed dining areas offer privacy but the noise level is pretty loud if you are trying to have a date, I imagine. The biscuits were amazing as advertised and we tried all the accompaniments which were worth the $1 each price tag. Piping hot and fluffy, the biscuit melted into your mouth. Heavenly! We shared the beef tartare (a go-to dish for me) & while the beef was tender it lacked any real zing & I missed the usual egg yolk. It was dressed with a kale/jalapeno emulsion which I looked forward to, but it was rather bland. My son opted for the rabbit pot pie special, which was delicious! It was hot and flavorful and just the right size. I decided on the pork shoulder with pinto beans and collard greens. I was really looking forward to it, but again, it lacked any real seasoning. There was a vinegar bite to the greens and pintos, but even some seasoned salt would have added depth. The pork shoulder was cooked well, but it too lacked any real seasoning. I grew up in the south and one thing I know for certain is we are not shy with our spice in any way! I was disappointed by what my meal could have been with just a little help from some fresh herbs and spices. We ordered the doughnut for dessert- which they were woefully out of so we opted for the pear cobbler instead. It was a delicious spin on the old fall standard apple, but my son commented, "Mom, you make a better cobbler at home." All in all, it was a good experience and we would definitely give it another try, but it was an awful lot of money for me to spend on just a so-so dinner. If I had it to do over we would visit Jeffrey's or Perry's or Second on Congress where I know we would have a 1st class experience with food to match.
Outstanding service, welcoming atmosphere, and excellent and interesting food. Very impressive.
Having lived in SC, it was pretty authentic southern food. Biscuits are pretty good but priced as a noveltie. Overall a nice option that doesn't feel like downtown Austin.
A friend was visiting from out of town and was looking for southern comfort food and Fixe came to mind immediately! We'd eaten there a few times before and remembered it was fantastic. The service was exceptional, our waitress was very attentive and full of information and recommendations. I highly recommend Fixe!
Great, creative food.
Incredibly loud ambience.
I always live the ambiance at Fixe, it’s very romantic and charming. I recommend sitting by the bar near the plate wall so you can watch people walking by outside. You MUST get the biscuits, made from scratch as soon as you order them.
