Five Sails Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The service was amazing. The ambiance, the closeup view of Vancouver’s harbour, Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains is unrivalled in Vancouver. The wine list was fabulous. The food, although portions were elegantly small and artistically displayed was delicious. It was old world elegance personified.
The food is consistently of high quality over several years of visits. From land to sea, the entrees are delicious, well balanced and satisfying. Save a little room for dessert, as these are some of the best in the city. We've been ho-hum about dessert lately (too sweet, too trendy, just okay) and Five Sails had us wanting to lick our plates!
We were somewhat disappointed considering the ratings. The food was very good but the delivery to the table disppointed. We waited very long for the main dishes and 2 of the 3 - both meat dishes, arrived relatively cold. Bit of a comedown. The interior looks corporate and dated, probably what you should expect in a convention centre. The service was ok-ish buy nothing special
Great view, service and food. The only hitch was that one of a trio of appetizers - the ceviche - didn't have any flavor. To the restaurant's credit, after we brought that to their attention, they brought us a second one that was much better! Low key but friendly and professional service.
The food is good. The view is terrific. And the service is on another level compared to anything else I've experienced in the city. They keep a book of all their repeat guests and will remember you, your food preferences, any allergies or sensitivities, significant events. It's an amazing feeling to be treated this way.
Five sails is not cheap, but this is classic fine dining in every way. If you were looking for a place to take your picky parents or in-laws, or wow the socks off an out-of-town guest or potential business partner, this is the place to do it.
And both their seafood and non-seafood dishes, while not particularly daring, are always perfectly executed.
Wonderful food and great service, as usual! We try to dine there at least three times a year, and Gerry Sayers makes us feel like family. A wonderful view makes it a treat for out of town guests, and Chef Dorfler’s food outshines even the appeal of the view.
The service was exceptional by all staff at Five Sails, we were not rushed, yet the food arrived at a very appropriate time during our evening outing - not too long, not too short. Also, the food was delicious and there were some small 'extras' like the white asparagus soup that was a pleasant surprise. The view from the windows is lovely, the room was just the right temperature and the atmosphere was totally relaxing.
Five star fine dining! We had an amazing night here at Five Sails. We requested a window table which we were given so we had a beautiful view of the harbour lights. The service received was second to none and the food was exquisite. The wine waiter helped us make a really nice choice on the wines and to top everything off, the restaurant surprised us with a "happy anniversary" complimentary dessert which was fantastic. It is not an inexpensive meal, but we believed we received excellent value for money considering the extremely high standard of all aspects of our dinner. Thanks for helping us celebrate our anniversary in style.
We went to Five Sails to celebrate our anniversary and the food/service were impeccable. Started the meal with the TRIO OF WARM & CHILLED SEAFOOD. Mains consisted of HONEY GLAZED SMOKED DUCK BREAST and ROAST MILK FED VEAL TENDERLOIN WRAPPED IN PANCETTA. The dinner finished off with luxe lemon mille-feuilles. All 3 courses were outstanding. We will definitely try to make it back there again.
Great venue and wonderful staff, but only thing that bothered me was that we brought outside coffee and was asked to have it put in a cup. Instead I drank the rest of mine and my girlfriend didn't feel comfortable and she left hers.
Overall great food, great view of the water. Very pleasant atmosphere.
