About Five Palms Steak & Seafood
Five Palms Steak & Seafood is a fine dining establishment, one of five concept restaurants in the Five Palms complex. Start out with an appetizer such as the baby eggplant makdous or the Five Palms turnover which is a baked puff pastry stuffed with mozzarella, feta, parsley and olive oil. Pamper your taste buds with one of the specialties like the Royal Imperial Russian caviar or the Beluga caviar. Dine on one of the delicious seafood dishes such as the lady Canadian lobster tail, colossal king crab legs, or the gentleman West African salt prawns that are served with chimichurri butter. Five Palms perfectly prepares entrée dishes that include Colorado lamb porterhouse, prime New York steak and Wagyu Tomahawk steak.
Other concepts include a bar, a wine and cigar venue, as well as a Mediterranean and a Parisian restaurant. It also hosts special events throughout the year.

There are two private dining areas. The banquet room seats up to 100 guests. It features a stained glass ceiling and offers outstanding views of the city and mountains. The other private dining area seats up to 16 guests, offering great views of the city and restaurant. Screens and other material for presentations are available upon request.

Very disappointed. Looking for a nice place to take my wife for dinner. Loud party dropping f bombs etc. Website noted business casual but people wearing t-shirts and shorts. My wife's steak undercooked as well. Just overall disappointed given the price and their attempt to be upscale but not.
Sometimes it is all about the tiny little things that either make a meal and a restaurant notable and worth raving about or be added to the list of "meh - don't need to go back" ... unfortunately this was our experience here. Picture a Saturday night - night before my birthday - and we chose a seemingly notable steak experience only to have "meh" instead of smooth and amazing. Disappointed is an understatement. Food was just ok and service was less than ok. There are other steak places in the area to choose from.
We are Pescatarians and did not find anything we wanted from the New Year's Eve menu. We were unaware that there would only be one menu for the evening. We were treated very nicely and the chef did offer a couple suggestions. We will be returning on another evening to sample the menu because the menu did look tempting.
We found Five Palms while looking for a piano bar. We enjoyed the ambiance and a couple of glasses of wine. It was great so we made reservations for the next night. I requested a table with a view. The hostess called and explained that the view was in another space called Oliva but that reservations were not accepted in that space. She recommended we keep our reservations in the dining room and that we could go to Oliva if a table was available. It was. So we enjoyed the dinner menu and the view. The food and service was excellent so I canceled our reservations at another upscale restaurant and made reservations for Five Palms for Christmas Eve. Before our Christmas Eve dinner, we enjoyed a glass of wine outside near the fireplace. Sadly, Oliva was closed so we couldn't enjoy the view from there but that was a minor inconvenience. The view of the Santa Catalinas from the patio was fabulous. Everything was impeccable in the dining room. The food was outstanding, The service couldn't have been better. In fact, it was like having dinner with very polite friends and family. Five Palms has four different spaces in which to enjoy food and drink. We enjoyed the concept so much we went 3 nights in a row. We've been to many great restaurants in Tucson. Few rival Five Palms.
We had a great anniversary dinner at 5 Palms! We shared the surf and turf meal and both the filet and lobster were fantastic! We also had their amazing french onion soup. Best I've had in a long time! The service was a little bit slow but nothing major. We highly recommend this place!
I have only eaten here once. I was disappointed. On a Saturday night, the prime rib "wasn't ready yet". The dessert we ordered was flourless chocolate torte. What we got was chocolate sponge cake. The bananas foster, cherries jubilee and the crepe Suzette were unavailable. There was no wine list, but there was a pick your own wine room. We sat on the patio and every member of our party got mosquito bites.
No reason to go back.
The service was spotty at the beginning. It took a while for the waiter to come to the table. We weren't informed of the specials before ordering (we did hear other waiters, as well as ours, let other tables know about the speacials after we ordered ). The service did get better as the meal went on.
The food was very good. The fresh baked bread was a great touch. My wife had the Sea Bass which was excellent. I had the Cioppino which was also very good. I would definitely order it again. The Creme Brule was perfect and my wife raved about the coffee.
Overall it was a great experience with a few "typical Tucson" issue.
This was the second time we have eaten at this restaurant. Both times the food and service were excellent. Staff was present but unobtrusive and the food was nicely presented. Decor is very nice. Although happy hour was busy and nearby the dining area was pleasantly quiet. We like the feature of being able to select a wine and take it to the table. Definitely a go to place.
The concept was intriguing. We liked the choice of fine fare and Mediterranean casual dinning. However, the fine dining experience missed the mark for us.
The staff, although nice, was too casual, nor was their anything special about the service.
The atmosphere lacked attention to detail. The window view we had, looked partially out toward the Catalina Mountains, onto an unattractive patio with a view of a motorcycle and unused dining items. While walking up to the patio, there was a large Bed Bath and Beyond box propped against the walkway which made it appear as though the restaurant was still getting set up. The decor seemed to be confusing. On one hand we saw a renaissance vibe, traditional formal and then a touch of Tuscany which made things a bit disjointed.
I liked the food choices. I had the rack of lamb and my wife had the Chilean sea bass. Her's was excellent. The Lamb was well proportioned but, under cooked and lacked seasoning. The desserts and drinks were great.
We liked the patio setting upstairs and the live music in both places. These are the two things that will draw us back, however, it will be for appetizers and desserts and not for special occasions as we had hoped.
I usually do not like writing reviews. I wrote this with the hopes that it is helpful. We need establishments like yours. The things that I mentioned are easy fixes.

Ambiance and food were terrific although predictable. Service was spot on although the server somewhat downplayed the quality of the Summer Special that drew us into the restaurant. I had it anyway and loved it. He also seemed to be up selling every chance he could. All that aside it was a wonderful meal and a delightful experience.
Keith our waiter and the rest of the staff were outstanding! Exceptional service, great wine with incredible food! Brings back the days of fine dining in a relaxed environment. Does anyone recall the fine dining in Tucson in the late 80's? Does Katherine and Company ring a bell? The attention to detail, service and fine food brought me right back to the day when the staff truly cared about your fine dining experience!
Five Palms is the best place in Tucson for delicious meals, superb service by a well-trained staff, fantastic views, elegant decor, and a good wine list. It is offers a warm and friendly atmosphere, yet not ultra casual like many restaurants in Tucson--both in dress and in wait service behavior. HERE, one does not hear "Are you still workin' on this?"--referring to a guest's plate! How refreshing! DDBW
For the prices charged, the food was most disappointing. Although the fine dining area was nearly empty, they didn't have an entrée of choice and one steak should never have been served because the quality was so low. The shrimp cocktail was good but the salad disappointing - especially for such a high price. It was nice of them to offer a complimentary dessert because we were celebrating our anniversary and that was delicious. The wine advertised as "retail price" was priced well above what it can be bought elsewhere.
We went upstairs for the seafood cart. Everything was not pre-frozen insisted a waiter after we commented the (small) lobster claws had been cooked a few days ago and were not that edible. For $12 a piece, I think we deserved "fresh." Replacement oysters arrived opened and covered in plastic wrap so "freshly shucked" might not apply there as well.
The outside veranda would have been nice but it has been designated cigar friendly, so we quickly retreated inside.
Also I felt sorry for the waitresses who wore unflattering sailor dress uniforms.
Five Palms has both bar/patio dining and fine dining. This night we did the latter with another couple. The food, wine and service were excellent. My wife and I split the Serrano ham appetizer which was delicious and a generous portion. We followed that by splitting a wedge salad, also delicious and not too heavy. We paired the salad with an albarino wine by the glass. For dinner I had the rack of lamb and my wife had the grouper. Both were excellent. The lamb is on the menu and the fish was a special. We ate the ham and the entrees with a bottle of 2009 Argiano Solengo, a super Tuscan. I picked that out in Five Palms' wine shop before dinner. Priced at about 1/2 what other restaurants would charge for that wine, what we saved on the wine paid for about half of our dinner! I really like their format of picking out the wine before dinner and paying retail for it rather than 2x or 3x retail at most restaurants. The wine selection is also top notch. Service by Keith and his staff was also excellent.
