We were initially shown to a table in the corner next to an emergency door exit, which was terrible. The waiter was very accommodating and moved us to a much better table. The food is excellent, as always. The ambience was great - a step back into 1950s supper club. And there was an excellent guitarist /musician playing in the bar area. We'll definitely be back.

We took our family of five to the 5 O'Clock Steakhouse after Marquette University's graduation. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Our cocktails were delicious. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The meal was pricey, but I knew that when I made the reservation. Since we were celebrating a major milestone, it was definitely worth it!

Food was delicious and prepared well. I got the bacon wrapped filet and it was melt in your mouth good. Our server Fay was polite and very attentive to us. Only minor complaint is that it was very loud in there.

This would be at the bottom of my list of Milwaukee steakhouses. For $226.00 for 2 people, my expectations are fairly high. The location is not the safest in the city; valet parking is free if you don't tip. (Who does that?). A $21.00 bill for a gin and tonic and a brandy old fashion at the bar....plus tip is fairly outrageous. At the table, the "fresh" bread was cold. The salad and relish tray were about as non-descrept as could be. Plain warm iceberg, a few thickly sliced cumbers, a few cherry tomatoes, and beaucoup slices of purple onions is not my idea of a good salad. The $48.00 rib-eye is what it should be - cooked like you ordered and flavorful in an au jus. You want a sauce? Well, you get mushrooms. That's it. You better eat quickly because they start clearing the table if you tary for 3 minutes. You want to pay with a credit card? Well, we'll bring you a paper tally sans padded folder. Ah, a nice mint on the way out? Nah, you get some gum drops.

We’ve been twice and had a fantastic experience both times. My only complaints are the level of background noise and price point of their bourbons. The noise is because it’s a smaller space and it’s always full, so nothing you can do about it but it makes it a little hard to hear so one at the far end of a large table. The bourbons I feel are a few dollars too much compacted to the rest of the menu... a pour that’s $12-14 at most places is $16. Not terrible, but worth noting.

We have been going to the five O’Clock Steakhouse for over 20 years. The food is always good, but I have a growing concern with the service and opening the second floor has only exacerbated those concerns. Five of us were there for dinner last night and it was a low point for service. It began by taking almost 15 minutes for our first drink to arrive, and when they did one our party who ordered a Manhattan received instead a whisky and coke. It took another 10 minutes to fix that. After we placed our order, the server forgot to bring the bread and we had to remind him. We then discovered there was no salt or pepper on table and it take another five minutes for server to bring to the table. Finally, and most troubling, when the dinners arrived the steaks were at best warm, but certainly not hot. Again, the steaks were very good, but the whole experience was less than satisfying.

Amazing!! There is a reason why this is the best steakhouse in Milwaukee! The steaks were so good. They just about melted in your mouth. Great ambiance with live music in the bar. The bartenders and waitstaff are so attentive. Our drinks were always filled and we sure didn’t leave hungry! We will definitely be back!!

First time visitor. I travel about 200 days a year and eat out a lot, and I just loved Five O'clock. When next in MKE will definitely hit this. The whole package works, service, location, decor, bar, just works. Comfortable, not pretensious.

Sides were forgotten about, steak was cooked incorrectly. Waiter was nice but not as professional as you would expect in a steak place at this price point. I had high hopes for this restaurant, unfortunately I have no plans to return after this visit.

This is only the second time I’ve been to this restaurant but if I wasn’t on a fixed income now I’d be here a whole lot more often. It has the best filet mignon you have ever tasted in your life. And there’s just something about the old fashioned way they do things there that just make it feel so homey. A real supper club vibe going on. Wish everyone could try this restaurant at least once in your life..

Wonderful, from the first step through the door! Excellent, friendly service from the bar, great tasting drinks, a nice and efficient server, and great meals. The steaks were to die for. Every one(party of four) of highest quality and done perfectly according to order.

Can’t wait until our next visit!

I love this restaurant and have eaten there twice before this time. This was the first time I have ever eaten upstairs, and I wouldn't do that again. We felt a bit neglected with there only being 2 servers upstairs (lots of big parties, too), and we certainly felt like things took longer than normal since they had to walk up and down stairs with everything. Our waitress asked us urgently in passing if we wanted another round of drinks, and we said yes, but she didn't stop to ask us what we wanted. Instead, she brought an identical round as our first, which wasn't what we were going to order again. We were just relieved to get our drinks after waiting a while, that we didn't bother saying anything. It was a bizarre circumstance. While I still enjoy this place and the food did not disappoint, the experience overall was a bit disappointing. We had talked it up so much for our friends who hadn't been there before, and it didn't quite live up to the hype for them, which made me feel guilty. Hopefully next time we decide to go, we'll have a better experience.

While the food was as good as expected, and all service was great, the NOISE of this restaurant is unbearable. Didn't help that a group of 18 (that acted as if they'd been partying all afternoon) poured into the bar area just after we were served our beverages (you have to order dinner while in the bar). The KY Derby was on, which likened the place to a Sports Bar. Imagine this same group then seated for dinner in the small (and very crowded) dining room, which was already very loud (LOTS of children). What was supposed to be a special occasion meal was ruined by having to used a raised voice to talk with one another. We would expect that an establishment that is this food centric - with prices to match :) would have figured out this noise situation by now. We mentioned it to the hostess as we left, and she agreed that it was a (well-known) problem, but they haven't yet figured out a way to solve it. We (and our guests) were extremely disappointed.

Myself and several friends were looking for a good guys night out. We wanted a great steak with a classic supper club ambiance. 5 oclock fit the bill perfectly. Just walking in told us everything we needed to know, perfect 60s-70s feel. Steaks were outstanding, some of the best I've ever had. My NY strip could have fed 4 Navy Seals. Service was top notch, we had Stephanie who kept a bunch of unruly men moving along. My only food "critique" is the appetizers could maybe use a creative upgrade..keep the shrimp apps, but maybe update some others. Overall it was a very memorable night. I gave the ambiance a "4" because it was EXACTLY what we wanted, but is certainly no grand hotel. Bravo! (was hoping next time some 4 Roses Single Barrel on the shelf...just sayin...)

Used to be great, not anymore! Rushed at the bar to order. Steak was just so-so. Shrimp app was meh at best. Ribs were luke warm and not very tasty. Lamb chops were tough and boney and the steak was not hot enough. Relishes were wilted. Bread was very good. The staff used to be friendly and the owner used to be welcoming, but not anymore. After 20 years of coming here, there are better places in Milwaukee!!

Well if you like an over abundence of traffic and noise from the wait staff and being seated next to the service station at the smallest table in the side room this is your place to go. When we searched in vain to find room on the top of the table to put our wine bottle, it ended up on the floor and this was before our dinner was served. The rooms are all very loud and most tables are crowded together. Only after our waitress noticed that we were having difficulty finding places to put anything onto this cart for a table did she kindly take pity on us and asked us if we would like to move to a booth in the bar area, of course we jumped at the chance to escape from this unpleasantness. Our steak and all the sides were very tasty and prepared to our liking. The key lime pie was delicious. No complaints there. Unfortunately we had to learn the hard way that if you want to enjoy your meal there you must request your seating preference (if they let you) before you place your order which is ONLY taken at the bar.
