Food was plentiful with good portion sizes and large cuts of meat. Steaks although juicy and cooked well, were bland and just felt like a huge chunk a meat thrown in front of you. Favorites from the night actually happened to be the drinks from the bar and the fried calamari.
Service itself was good. The hosts and server were great and seemed to really care. The only real downfall to the service was that it took a while for us to be served our food. Because of this, dessert was on the house which was a pleasant surprise.
Overall my wife and I had a good time and thought it was a good experience. The vibe and ambiance surrounding us were also pleasant. But considering that this is a revered steak house we felt the main entrees came up a bit short.
*Another shortcoming happened to be the bar area which doubled as the "lobby" when you arrive and leave. There is one door in and out and on a cold night this area gets extremely cramped and unpleasant. Here in this small hallway next to the bar is where you wait to be seated and wait for valet when leaving. I would not recommend this place in the winter for this very reason.
So we had a reservation for 8....booked a month ahead. They ended up giving our table away and making us wait for another table. They actually wanted us to order standing up at the bar! Not ok!
Honestly the steaks were not seasoned. I can honestly say I can cook my one steak better then what we got from 5 o’clock steakhouse. No flavor wha so ever.
Food was average. Crowd was poor. Service was just ok
Not a fan
Great time and fabulous food as usual! Never disappoints
The atmosphere was great but very loud as we were trying to enjoy dinner. The food was good but I feel it was slightly overpriced. The big reason why we were disappointed was the service. I understand that they were very busy and there is the possibility of being understaffed, Several times we had to flag down another server to help us because we only saw a server when they took our order and when they brought the bill.
This restaurant has an old time charm that is difficult to find anywhere else. The wait staff were all friendly and outgoing. The steaks were delicious cuts and done to perfection. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique dining experience from the golden years when quality was king and cuts of steak are hearty and flavorful.
Always fantastic! 5 O'Clock Steakhouse remains one of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee!
Had a great dinner and time celebrating my Dad’s birthday!! The steaks were delicious and great supper club atmosphere! Also great service who really accommodated for the birthday! Get an old fashioned!
The staff was amazing!! Very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely go back!!
The service we received was average but adequate. The food was acceptable, but WAY over priced for the quality. It just wasn’t a really extraordinary dining experience like I had read about and had hoped for. Not really sure that I would recommend or return.
Excellent food and service. I was impressed by the house merlot and cab.
Outstanding food and great service, a great dining experience !
16 oz filet is one of the best I ever had. A must do when in Milwaukee!
Being an avid steak eater ,this may be the best in town! ,
I’ve eaten here for 20+ years. Early on you couldn’t see thru the smoke from one end of the bar to another. Always busy but not in a crowded bad way. Change of ownership a few years ago didn’t change the food or service.
This place is a supper club style restaurant. You start at the bar with a drink and place your order there. Bartenders are entertaining and pour an honest drink. When you table is ready you sit down to a relish tray, salad and warm bread. Dressings are tasty and relish tray is fresh. Steaks are what to order here and they don’t disappoint. I recommend the 16 oz filet or porterhouse but you probably can’t go wrong with any selection. Great sear, au jus and mushrooms.
Wine list is OK and menu prices are reasonable for the portions. I always order big because leftovers are a treat. Try a Brandy Alexander for dessert and you won’t be disappointed.
I took my two sons here as a thank you for some things they had done for me. We arrived nothing had changed and were greeted warmly and escorted to our table. Our server I wish I could remember her name she had come to America in 1982 and had an eastern European accent. Wonderful order our food and everything was delicious. She related to my sons really well. The only thing was is maybe its as I age but it was so dark it was impossible to see what was steak and what was fat. My sons ate everything but I took my leftovers home and they were better the next night.
First off I love this place and will return. My review is based on the steak I had. I didn’t think it was as awesome as I’ve had in the past. Not sure what happened.
Best meal we have had in a LONG time!! Drinks were on point, and Oliver was fantastic. Is tomorrow too soon to come back?! Thank you to your entire staff for a wonderful evening!
Great ambiance and great welcoming service. The dinner was excellent. We will definitely return.
We absolutely LOVE dining here. We were in at the same time as a large party that was extremely loud and obnoxious. The food was amazing as always and our server and bartenders were top notch.
As always, 5Oclock never disappoints. Another 10 plus experience. This is our go to place for service, steak and satisfaction. Crystal our waitress was amazing. Thank you so much.
We come here every year for my friend's birthday. It is her favorite! Tight quarters and a little loud for intimate dining but there's a reason for that - best steak in the city!!! DELICIOUS!!!
Steaks were delicious!!! Everyone loved them. I was so looking forward to the supper club relish tray and that was disappointing because the vegetables were not fresh. They looked old!
What an experience!!! Love this place. Steaks were amazing!
Valet, Bar staff, waitress were all top shelf. This great mid week night out. Steak and lamb chops were cooked perfectly. We will be back again soon.
Fun place. Good food, service and drinks
Great atmosphere- very nostalgic and great service
Best steaks in Milwaukee, hands down. The service is great as well. This place is a throw-back to a simpler time, when supper clubs were the height of good food and personal service. You will be asked to sit in the bar area when you arrive, where your server will take your dinner order as you sip on a cocktail. Then, you'll be taken to your table where your salad and relish tray are waiting for you.
I know this may be different than lost reviews but this is the 2nd time we’ve dined here. Gave it a 2nd try even though we weren’t impressed the 1st time just because people talk this place up so much. Sat at the bar first to get drinks and place our order. But that felt rushed and like it was just a formality. Waitress was pleasant to our face but we caught her smile turn into a frown as soon as she turned around after go over the specials. Drinks had to be fixed, too much ginger beer in our Moscow miles and needed more lime juice, okay no biggie. Salads were decent-parmesan peppercorn dressing was really good. Appetizers were okay-shrimp cocktail sauce was like jello but shrimp were decent size and the other one with some type of fried balls with a cheese sauce was good. Steaks were cooked correctly but not all that tasty, baked potato wasn’t cooked all the way and had hard chunks and was cold. The best part of the whole meal was the free piece of key lime pie. We got it free because it was our anniversary. But it was also our first time tasting key lime pie and it was really good. We’d go back just for that. But otherwise not worth it and you can get a better steak elsewhere.
Corper's Five O'clock Steakhouse has always been our favorite place for steaks anywhere including Chicago, but on our recent trip the dinner was lackluster and left us feeling cheated.
We are always happy to start with a drink at the bar, but on this particular evening the new bartender charged me $3.00 for the splash of coffee in my Bailey's and coffee. Maybe this was accidental, but after working in the restaurant industry for 20 years (8 years spent in steakhouses) it felt like a shady move to extract more money from us. Once we pay the bill, the coffee is then removed, and the bartender pockets the money. We raised our concerns to the other bartender and the bill was rectified. Like I said, maybe it was accidental, but it did not feel like it.
We made a reservation at 6pm for two and was seated at a booth next to the bathrooms in a hallway. In the twenty or so times we visited Corper's we've never had such a bad table. The waitstaff seemed to rush by us causing the floor of the old building to shake every time someone went by. There was a nook of coats and clutter across from us where some of the waitstaff was stopping to check their phones. The table itself was against a mirrored wall with an array of electrical clutter and poorly-framed pictures of random people.
The food was mostly on par with previous visits. The crab cakes are the best in the city. The shrimp cocktail tasted overcooked and old. We had already eaten 3 out of the five so we refrained from making too much of a fuss, and the waitress seemed disinterested in pursuing our unhappiness further. The peppercorn ranch dressing was watered down compared to other visits. The steaks (filet and porterhouse) were cooked to perfection and the mushrooms & au jus were delicious.
Our bill for the evening with tip came to around $210.00! We always refrained from visiting Carnivore because of the price, but now we are considering a visit. Or perhaps the newly remodeled Dreamdance. Good bye, old Corper's.
I'd wait longer if needed, the food is well worth it.
We had a party of four and waited over an hour for our table (with a reservation). Once seated, we waited another 40 minutes for our food, even though we ordered our food at the bar. One steak was over-cooked and one was under-cooked but didn't want to send it back due to waiting so long. For the high price, this wasn't a great experience.
Not impressed with valet STREET PARKING...it was hard to have a conversation because it was way too loud...the food was good and service was good but it was too dark. I like to see the food that I’m eating!
One of the best steaks of my life. Traditional Wisconsin supper club. Just a great meal.
Such a wonderful dining experience. The charbroiled porterhouse was amazing. oh, and the homemade ranch. oh, and my spicy bloody mary was great too!
Awesome like always! Steak is the best I have ever had . Love going there
Delicious meal from start to finish! We loved the salad and various dressings and the bread was perfect. I got the land and sea (2 4oz filets and 3 fried shrimp) which was an excellent portion. Two times now though, I forgot to order the steak on the rare side since they're smaller. Excellent service every time.
I picked this establishment for my wife's 70th birthday. Just the two of us and we had an amazing night. Thank you for everything.
