Five - O Ratings and Reviews
Took my wife their for my Birthday, that’s how much faith I have in this place. Should be called Food Heaven. We went for breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict with, get ready. English muffin, crab cake, lobster, shrimp and scallops. Worth going to Heaven for, and they only charged 23 I would have paid 83, just saying. And of course don’t skip their pancakes. Very lite. I enjoyed the blueberry chocolate chip. And opted for the maple syrup that our waitress suggested. How by the way couldn’t have been nicer to this, and I hate to say it NY food Brat. I should have spelt their and then ate again. Job well done people, pat yourselves on the back. I wish I could have added a picture of the creation I ate. Hummm
The food was very good. I had the bolognese and my wife had the cod special. But the service and atmosphere was what made the night. Our waiter was very attentive and had great knowledge of the menu and was able to answer all questions. Would definitely go back again.
Five-O has become a favorite when dining out in Ogunquit. The staff, in particular Tory and Gary are awesome, always friendly and accommodating. The selection of appetizers are very good, with variety of cheeses, arincini and meats to start. The bolognese is a favorite as is the chicken entree. Always consistent and enjoyable!
We have been going to 5-0 twice a year for 15 years. We drive up from Boston on our anniversary and birthday weekend getaways and have never been disappointed in the 5-0. The food, service, and ambience are all consistenlty excellent. It is the highlight of our weekend. Very grateful.
I'm sorry to say, I would in no way ever recommend Five O to anyone. Our server, Sammy was very pleasant and the cocktail we had was good. The food is another story. I don't mind paying any price when the food is good; I can afford to do so and have. In reviewing their menu you could see they were attempting to be fancy. Too much, too many flavors mixed in some of the entrees. The $24.00 pasta entrée and $6.00 side vegetable I had were terrible at best. The entrée was 6 half moon shaped dumplings stuffed with finely shredded pork and pureed mushroom muck (all completely flavorless) topped with crunchy shaved proscuit ham(?spelling) very finely shaved masitake(??spelling) mushrooms; something different. Not shitake mushrooms. The dumpling shell itself had a good consistency. There was a small amount of a sauce in the bottom of the dish that had a nice aroma, but not much sauce to get a good flavor, what little there was, it was a little tasty. I could only get through two and a half of them. The vegetable side dish of Delicata squash was prepared in bite size pieces and served with the skin on with spices and shallots. This is a winter squash and is not meant to be served to eat the skin. The squash should have been soft all the way through and it was not and with the skin on top of this it was crunchy - it should not have any hard pieces at all. Neither I or my friend cared for the dish. Absolutely terrible.
My friend had the Pollock fish special. The fish was good, not fantastic, the sauce was so, so. At the price is should have been outstanding. It was ok to her, but not good enough to return.
The atmosphere was nice, but noisy. All in all, it was a bust to the extent I would not give it a second chance. Usually I would try a restaurant one more time; sorry, but not this time.
Great food! What a wonderful surprise to find such yummy food a short walk from our hotel. Before coming here, there was only one place in Ogunquit on my regular, reliably excellent list (MC Cove) but now, happily, there are two. I'd come back anytime, with pleasure, and plan to do so during our annual trips to Ogunquit. Appetizer choices are great-- those we tried were uniformly delicious ( fried oysters, chicken pate, mushroom appetizer), great Caesar salad, too, and fantastic pasta, too. Kudos to the chef, kitchen staff, Walt staff!
We were very much looking forward to our meals and experience. The restaurant has a certain charm and the staff were more than friendly. From there is was a huge disappointment and the worst two meals we experienced during our five day stay in Maine. My steak and 'frites' were so salty they were impossible to eat. After four bites I gave up and did not touch the rest. The worst piece of meat I have ever been served, dry and salted as if it were being shipped overseas in an earlier century. The fries were tasteless, except for the salt. My wife is vegan and they had no meal to accommodate her. She chose a selection of four sides and salad as her meal. They were served on four side plates. Any other restaurant that does not cater to vegans will put together a nice presentation on a single plate, showing a little effort and imagination. I have seem more imagination in take out joints than what we experienced here. So, high hopes and great disappointment. Never again. Shameful.
On vacation in Ogunquit. Saw the menu in the afternoon while walking by. Went at 6:00 pm and were seated prior to our reservation. Clean, quiet and excellent ambiance. Menu was very diverse. Wife had Pasta Bolognese, and I had New York Strip. Started out with Raw oysters!
ALL was excellent! BEST restaurant we have eaten at in 2017, and we live near Boston and Worcester! Our server was Lisa and she was the final star of the evening. Don't even hesitate going here for one moment, JUST GO!!!
One of the greatest Restraunts to be in Ogunquit and this place never disappoints. Again the quality and attention of the staff makes this establishment above the rest. The food speaks for the guy in the back......fantastic , bit you try it and I'm sure you'll write your own review.
My wife and I drove up to Ogunquit from New Hampshire and went to Five-O for dinner after enjoying a wonderful musical at the Ogunquit Playhouse. The ambiance was nice and cozy with large windows all around the restaurant overlooking Shore Road. Our server was very professional, knowledgeable and provided excellent service throughout the night. We were having a great time up until the food arrived. i ordered the NY Strip Steak and my wife had the Short Ribs. The steak was pre-sliced and looked perfectly cooked at medium temperature. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't live up to expectations. The steak was extremely tough and didn't have much flavor or seasoning. My guess is they used a low grade quality beef like select instead of choice or prime and pre-slicing the meat stripped away the tenderness. I was very disappointed considering the great reviews we read prior to making reservations and the price per plate. With so many options available in Ogunquit we will not be going back to Five-O and recommend trying other restaurants first.
I vacation in Maine every Fall for the last 15 years and have always wanted to dine at Five-0. I also wanted to try a reservation using Open Table. The reservation was perfect, our server was excellent (Samantha) great wine list; they did not have my selection but their recommended alternative was spot-on. Presentation was excellent but food was disappointing. The appetizer menu excellent, tasty and fair priced, the entree choices very un-Maine like, overpriced and just alright at best. We skipped dessert. What the food lacked the server's personality, the appetizer choices and the wine made up. If you go, and we won't again, enjoy an appetizer or two, and skip the soup and enjoy the salad. A meal not worth dropping a c-note on so next year we'll stick with the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound, costs us a little less there too and much, much better.
This was our 3rd visit. Have gone all 3 times we were in Ogunquit, a special place for us. Lisa our waitress was excellent. Whole Lubino fish was enjoyed by my daughter; the special of the night Grilled Hake over couscous was delicious which I enjoyed. Steamed mussels in white wine & leeks plus the Autumn Salad were excellent appetizers.Don't forget the Blueberry Martini, it'll cause you to return again..
Food was good, waitress started out with a little attitude. We were sat next to a table with 2 very young crying children. If we had been placed further away and waitress was pleasant, it would have been more enjoyable. The food was good, that's why I would recommend it.
We had a great time at Five-O. I would highly recommend sitting outside if the weather allows for it. The noise level inside is quite loud so we were super happy to be outside under the heat lamps. Our server Sammy was terrific. She recommended the sampler appetizers where you can choose from several different options. All were delicious! I had the steak entree with shoestring fries, delicious!! My boyfriend had the pasta bolognese, which I thought was the best bolognese I've ever had, so yummy!! I also had one of the many martinis on their menu, again delicious. If you're in Ogonquit you must try Five-O!
We had a lovely evening at Five-O. Our wait staff ( more than one!) were attentive and friendly and served us in the proper way. They were obviously well trained! The setting was quiet and most pleasant. My husband asked for a change in something on the menu and he was cheerfully accommodated. I had the angelotti with mushrooms and a marsala sauce which I thought was outstanding and a bit unusual. The only disappointment was the blueberry crostada which was touted as freshly baked (even had to wait 10 minutes for it) but it tasted as if it was merely heated with a too thick and not flaky crust. It tasted like a pie bought in a market.
